Giant Hand-Crafted Die-Cut & Embossed Advent Calendar Wreath
More Advent Calendars and Other Christmas
IN Germany and other European countries, Advent, the four weeks before Christmas has been observed for many years. The word advent means coming and is a time to contemplate the coming of Christ.
The Advent calendar is still another German custom, one that has been carried over to North America. Some calendars are large Christmas pictures with twenty-four small paper windows cut into them. Every day, children (of all ages) in the family open a window to find a little picture of an angel, a toy, a candle, etc. and when the last window is opened, it shows the nativity symbolizing the birth of Christ.
Today there are also many non-religious calendars available and combinations of the two, often featuring both Jesus and Santa.
This wonderfully large die-cut wreath is a very special Advent Calendar. It resembles the large die-cuts available in the Germany years ago. The expert cutting and superb embossing make this ever the more special. And, right in the center is a large red fabric bow (this may need a little fluffing on arrival).
It is made of sturdy hard paper and measures about 15 inches wide and about 16-1/2 inches high. It will make a lovely wall or indoor-door decoration for the holidays.
Young and old alike will marvel at the simple pleasure of opening each window, anticipation building as nearer the date you arrive! This calendar has been hand-glittered in the traditional manner.
Advent Calendars are re-usable, so start a new family tradition this year!

Santa Fe Adobe Advent Calendar
The first Spanish settlers came to northern New Mexico at the turn of the seventeenth century. Their intention was to establish a society that would blend the best of Spain with the best of the preexisting indigenous culture. The melding of the Spanish, Mexican, and Native American cultures produced what has come to be known as Santa Fe Style.
Jaye Oliver has applied this unique sensibility to the creation of a delightful Advent calendar. Each of its twenty-four windows open to reveal a Southwestern Christmastime treat. With 24 tiny windows, this free-standing 3-D Advent calendar is a wonderful way to count down the days to Christmas.
Introduce this charming tradition to your family with this folk art Advent calendar made of paper stock. It pops up and is designed to last for years.
Because of the coloring and style, you might also consider this for a student project about the southwest and Mexico.
