Golden Dorje Pendant in Antiqued Brass
More Necklaces and Pendants
More Buddhist Items
The dorje (Tibetan) represents the thunderbolt of enlightenment - the epiphany - that causes an abrupt change in human behavior due to a new or renewed consciousness. Most religions worldwide celebrate such enlightenment as a pivotal episode in the lives of mystics, saints and shamans. But, anyone might have such experience - sharing the notion that we are all one in possibility.
The enlightenment helps the individual detach from the personal importance of self, romance, money, food and even life. This allows one's inner happiness to prevail, allowing the enlightened to recognize and celebrate that s/he is part of the one - the creation.
Our pendant measures 1-5/8 inch long by 5/8 inch wide and has a substantial feel.

Prayer Stone with the Same Inscription
Copper is a soft metal that is known as a catalyst for increasing mental alertness. Some believe that it fights against arthritis pain and supports the immune system. It is also known as a good conductor of energies from Higher Nature - perhaps that is where its healing reputation started.
It has been said that all the teachings of the Buddha are contained in the mantra inscribed on this wonderful cuff:
Om Mani Padme Hum
Because of that, it cannot really be translated into a simple phrase or sentence. This very special mantra frees us from the real world, so perhaps that is why there is no real translation, as it is the translation of everything.
We are happy to offer this symbol of peace as a bracelet to be worn by anyone at any time - to be reminded of the powerful mantra.

Art Postcard - His Holiness the Dalai Lama's Hands
This stunning photograph by Herb Ritts captures the essence of peace and good will that is the Dalai Lama. Although forced to live outside his native Tibet, he does not speak ill of his detractors. His ability to connect both the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and the modern world are a tribute to his sincerity.
Here, in 1987, he was captured with the traditional mala beads meant for praying (similar to the Catholic rosary). This photo is from Pictures of Peace, an exhibition and book committed to promoting international good will and principles of free expression. hand-painted ceramic Buddha bead
The detail on this stylized replica bead is astounding. His cloak is painted purple and his hands and feet are finely detailed as well.
Buddha is drilled from right to left, and the hole is large enough for a thin leather cord. Because the hole is not prominent, consider using him as the center of a small shrine, or add him to a niche in an altered book on eastern philosophies. We have him sitting atop an old chalkboard, ensuring that only well-thought messages are written.

The Dalai Lama Paper Doll
More Paper Dolls
The influential spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama is also Tibet's head of state and most important political leader. Forced to leave his native land when China invaded Tibet in 1945, Tenzin Gyatso, the fourteenth Dalai Lama, moved to India; from there he frequently travels to countries in the West, teaching and lecturing in his pursuit of world peace. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.
The tradition of the Dalai Lama (meaning Ocean of Wisdom in Tibetan, reaches back many centuries to the first Dalai Lama, Gedun Drupa, whose founding of a monastery and extensive writing on the teachings of the Buddha in the 15th century began an unbroken succession of Tibetan spiritual leaders.
The 14th Dalai Lama (born Lhamo Thondup) often sites a favorite prayer, from the writings of the Buddhist scholar Shantideva, summing up his greatest sources of inspiration:
For as long as space endures And for as long as living beings remain, Until then may I, too, abide To dispel the misery of the world.
Tom Tierney pays tribute to this renowned teacher in a paper doll collection featuring the revered Buddhist leader and his parents at different stages of their lives. Outfits include formal ankle-length robes of brocaded silk and a fur-trimmed long coat, as well as shirts and prayer shawls of traditional saffron and maroon. Admirers of the spiritual leader - and anyone intrigued by Tibetan culture - will prize this authentically detailed collection.

108 Buddhas on a Walnut
Carefully carved on this unopened walnut shell are the miniscule representations of 108 bald, sitting Buddhas. This amulet is often carried for good luck.
The number 108 is quite important in the Buddhist traditions. Buddhist malas consist of 108 beads. Bells are rung 108 times at the beginning of the new year for luck.
Because walnuts are natural, each of these is completely different from the next. But, all measure about 1-1/2 inch. The walnut is hand-carved with the nutmeat still inside. While the carver strove to carve 108 Buddhas, the the number may vary and may not reach the auspicious and sacred number. This does not make it any less lucky, and we're sure you'll enjoy counting them.

The central image of the Wind Horse carries the Flaming Jewel which is the wish fulfilling jewel of enlightenment. This set of five flags arrives in an hand-made paper pouch and is made of good quality hemmed cotton, ready for hanging on the attached beaded string. Hang them in your garden, from a high window, in your trees and increase your merit by the action of blessing all beings.
