Our elegant Buddhist prayer stones, or mani stones, are hand-made with auspicious images of Buddhist Gods and Goddesses.
Tradition suggests that the protection mantra, "om mani padme hum" should be chanted and the supplicant will be protected from all dangers ahead. This mantra is said to be the embodiment of compassion and kindness. Only when we can imagine ourselves as not the self but as a compassionate being, can we protect ourselves.
Each of our prayer stones is different as they are hand-made, but most are similar to the one in the illustration. These are no longer available and we were unaware that we still had some back in the recesses of our atelier.
This stone features Buddha and measures 1-1/4 by 7/8 inch.

Prayer Stone with the Same Inscription
Copper is a soft metal that is known as a catalyst for increasing mental alertness. Some believe that it fights against arthritis pain and supports the immune system. It is also known as a good conductor of energies from Higher Nature - perhaps that is where its healing reputation started.

Wrapped Brass Buddha Pendant
What a special pendant this is! Featuring an image of buddha on either side in aged brass, the centerpiece resembles a triangular prayer stone. But, it is wrapped in silver metal and topped with a hanging loop, changing it into a pendant.
You'll find yourself fingering the internal portion for confidence, peace and positive destiny.
This substantial pendant might be too heavy for earrings, but, of course, that is a personal preference, after all. Because this lovely piece is made of both silvery and golden metal, it will look equally beautiful on either color chain, or on ribbon or leather.
Each of these is hand-made so please allow for artistic variation. Measurements are approximately 1-3/8 inch high (not including the bail), 5/8 inch at the widest point and 3/16 inch thick.

This versatile component has been excellently hand-carved of bone and features a variegated coloring from a smoking process. Each Buddha is slightly different due to its hand-made nature and the natural materials.
It is flat-backed for gluing to a project. But, it also features a stringing hole from top to bottom and a charm or pendant hole above Buddha's head. Each one measures 1-7/8 inch high by 15/16 inch at the widest point. From front to back, he measures about 1/2 inch.

Buddha is drilled from right to left, and the hole is large enough for a thin leather cord. Because the hole is not prominent, consider using him as the center of a small shrine, or add him to a niche in an altered book on eastern philosophies. We have him sitting atop an old chalkboard, ensuring that only well-thought messages are written.

The influential spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama is also Tibet's head of state and most important political leader. Forced to leave his native land when China invaded Tibet in 1945, Tenzin Gyatso, the fourteenth Dalai Lama, moved to India; from there he frequently travels to countries in the West, teaching and lecturing in his pursuit of world peace. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.
The tradition of the Dalai Lama (meaning Ocean of Wisdom in Tibetan, reaches back many centuries to the first Dalai Lama, Gedun Drupa, whose founding of a monastery and extensive writing on the teachings of the Buddha in the 15th century began an unbroken succession of Tibetan spiritual leaders.
The 14th Dalai Lama (born Lhamo Thondup) often sites a favorite prayer, from the writings of the Buddhist scholar Shantideva, summing up his greatest sources of inspiration:

These sweet little Buddha charms are made of plastic and resemble the plastic charms of the 1930s through 1950s, but they are new. They are an almost transparent green. Certainly, the color of the object behind the charm will show through, allowing it variability.

108 Buddhas on a Walnut
Carefully carved on this unopened walnut shell are the miniscule representations of 108 bald, sitting Buddhas. This amulet is often carried for good luck.
The number 108 is quite important in the Buddhist traditions. Buddhist malas consist of 108 beads. Bells are rung 108 times at the beginning of the new year for luck.
Because walnuts are natural, each of these is completely different from the next. But, all measure about 1-1/2 inch. The walnut is hand-carved with the nutmeat still inside. While the carver strove to carve 108 Buddhas, the the number may vary and may not reach the auspicious and sacred number. This does not make it any less lucky, and we're sure you'll enjoy counting them.

The writing printed on the flags include mantras of Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), Chenrezi, and Manjushri. The five colors of the flags represent the five elements: blue for space, white for water, red for fire, green for wind, and yellow for earth.

Buddhist lucky symbols woodblocks
Hand carved woodblocks have been the traditional means of printing in Nepal for centuries. Even today, prayer books in Himalayan Buddhist monasteries are printed from such blocks.
Handheld tools are carefully used to cut the designs out of "sisau", a type of cedar. Lokta paper handmade from the bark of the Daphne tree is traditionally harvested so that the tree may regenerate.
To print, simply press your woodblock onto the inkpad provided (or one of your own). Then on a padded surface (for example on a pile of newspapers or several layers of cloth), place a piece of lokta paper and firmly press the woodblock. Gently rock the block in all directions to achieve a clear print.
