How wonderful is ice cream on a VERY hot day! We just loved these when we found them! These little wooden ice cream spoons wrapped in waxy paper just as though they were new! They hail from the 1950s or 1960s and will make any baby boomer ice cream fan drool!

What fun to serve your next dessert in these old-time waxed paper ice cream cups. They are made of heavy paper that has been coated with wax - insuring that any melted ice cream won't leak through the paper. Now, these are still produced in some form, but not like these originals made by the Sweetheart Cup Division of the Maryland Cup Corporation. Each holds 3 fluid ounces of ice cream (or anything else).
The label on either reads:
WARREN Sanitary's Best by Test REAL ICE CREAM Delicious 3 FL.OZ. Ice Cream
The base is inset to create a footing for the cup so that it doesn't move easily on (or off) the table. On the inner lip of the base, it reads:
- + BS303, BY SWEETHEART CUP DIV. OF MARYLAND CUP CORP., BALTIMORE, MD. U.S.A. S-68161
These appear to have been produced in the mid-20th century. There is no zip code included in the address, so this is a tell-tale sign, as the first zips were used in the 1960s, and they weren't mandatory.

What a tasty treat - a little graham cracker to go with a little coffee or milk! These little resin pieces are flat backed and are ready to use for just about anything. There are no drilled holes, so you might add a glued bale or drill a little hole yourself.
Each measures 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch. The back is flat off-white. But the front looks exactly like a cracker - but just let your dolls eat them. Plastic food isn't really good for humans.

This fun little re-usable tin of candies even reads "EAT ME" - just as though it appeared from Wonderland itself!
Soon Alice's eye fell on a little glass box that was lying under the table: she opened it, and found in it a very small mint, on which the words 'EAT ME' were beautifully almost invisibly marked. 'Well, I'll eat it,' said Alice, 'and if it makes me grow larger, I can reach the key; and if it makes me grow smaller, I can creep under the door; so either way I'll get into the garden, and I don't care which happens!
Ooops! We know that's not the real tin, but this little in is so cute - if Lewis Carroll were here today, he might have changed the story himself!
The little hinged tin measures 1-3/4 square by 3/8 inch thick. The flavor is peppermint.

It looks good enough to eat and claims to be milk chocolate, but it's really a fun little plastic charm! You might also use it in your shrines and memory boxes if you like - just gently remove the hanging loop by unscrewing it. Don't worry, it's in there tight enough to hold the chocolate bar on as a charm!
Not including the hanging loop, the charm measures 3/4 inch high by 9/16 inch wide. The silvery loop adds another 1/4 inch making it 1 inch high.

Sadly, the little company that made these has suffered with the times and has had to close it's doors. We were truly disheartened by the news. So once they are gone - they're gone.
We used to go to the shore every summer - to Stone Harbor, New Jersey. Our vacation was at the same time each year and each year we stayed in the same motel - right on the sand, right by the water. Our normal routine would include going to the all-year Christmas store, a night-time visit to the boardwalk in Wildwood and our favorite - a trip to a wonderful candy store in Cape May.
Every year, my Dad would buy these pills (jelly beans) for his friends. He was the Postmaster here in Donora as well as the Assistant Fire Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department. Every year he would giggle when he bought different formulas and every year as I grew older, I'd tell him, "Daddy, it's not funny every year." And every year, he'd reply, "Sure, it is!"
When I discovered that they were still made, what else could I do - we had to sell these. And, trust me, these are funny - and they will be - every year! Honest!
Better yet, they are made by a wonderful company in Wyoming. They employ 30 developmentally disabled individuals, whose conscientious attitudes and attention to detail are amazing!
Each bottle looks just like a prescription and reads:

Flavigny is the world's oldest confectioner, reportedly supplying anise cadies to the Pope as far back as 873, when monks in the local abbey started producing the sweets. When the abbey was abandoned after the French Revolution, the villagers of Flavigny continued producing the candies.

Made of dark classic denim, you can embroider just about anything you like on these. Because they are darker, you might have to modify your iron on transfers to be sure that you can see them. Or, you can just trace over the ironed-on motif with a piece of sharpened white chalk (or use our little mini chalks for details).
We really like to use fabric paints on these - especially with kids - how perfect for them to create their own gifts for their families. Encourage them to create their own designs.
This padded can wrap measures approximately 11 by 4-1/2 inches when lying flat. It is fabric insulated with a thin layer of soft foam (that is very easy to stitch through) and has a velcro closure. It is made of polyester/cotton twill and designed to fit a standard beverage can.

Vintage Hard Plastic Half Walnut Shell Ornament Component

These old-fashioned hard plastic walnut shells are the coolest thing ever for making specialty miniature ornaments.
Use the half-shell as is, or glue a fabric tape or other sturdy material (duct tape will even work on the inside floor of the shell and attach another half-shell to make your walnut close.
Each half features a little loop at the top to add a hanging thread or cord. You might choose to snip off the loop and allow the walnut shell to sit the flat base on a table or under your feather tree.
The matte finish helps to make the shell look almost real. These are high quality hard plastic and were made in Germany and should last through generations.

But such a name was dying to become a candy. Plastic Rice Bowl Charm or Pendant

There is nothing like a bowl of white rice to compliment an Asian meal - especially a spicy one. To commemorate such dinners, our little plastic bowl of rice is just the perfect menu item.
It is heavier than most charms and actually feels like it might be glass or porcelain, but the artisan insists that it is plastic. It measures 1 inch in diameter at the top and also from the bottom of the bowl to the top of the mound of rice. There is an eye hook that might easily be removed should you choose to use this in a shrine or memory box.
Because of the weight, we do not recommend these for earrings.
