Vintage Brass knuckles charm
These fun charms are from a novelty distributorship that has gone out of business. We're not quite sure how old they are, but they certainly are not new!
They are in varying conditions as well. They are brass plated over a base metal of unknown origin. Some of the plating needs some trimming in the finger holes. Some of the charms boast a great patina and others aren't completely plated. We fall in love with stuff like this all the time.
Each one measures 1-3/8 inch by 3/4 inch.

What a neat idea! Add a little love or friendship note inside and you'll have a perfect gift for your beloved or friend! This little copper charm might also be a pendant, depending on the way you use it.
Each of these envelopes has a hinged articulated top that opens and closes. Although there is no latch, it remains nicely closed by design. The charm measures 1-1/4 inch across by 3/4 inch high. On either side of the envelope is a little loop for hanging. You just might choose to hang it by one loop and hang another dangly from the other loop.
Our envelope is unfinished copper and shows some patina. This will clean nicely if you choose, but be sure to use a finish of some sort if you don't want it to show that patina again.

Each of these cool white enameled skull charms has been painted with black eyes nose and mouth by hand, making him quite eerie!

We're not so sure when these guys were originally created, but we are sure that they're pretty silly. They appear to be from the mid-20th century, because of their make-up. Each one features what seems to be a broken peanut shell. One of the little peanuts is peaking out, but alas, s/he cannot see anything, because, s/he has no eyes - just a giant, happy, toothy smile! What fun!
Each charm (or pendant) measures 2-1/8 inches long by 5/8 inches wide (at the widest point). there is a little hole at the top with a golden jump ring for easy attaching.
One of our customers just told us that these were a "symbol" for Jimmy Carter during his presidential campaign in 1976 - he was a Georgia peanut farmer! We're not sure whether they were supposed to be positive or negative, but we know they are fun!

While we did not design or make this charm, it resembles our girl so much - she sits in exactly this manner - that we just had to sell it. What a sweet charm this is! And, how perfect for beach jewelry or memory project. We cannot be sure if these are real shells, but they sure appear to be. We think they might be vintage, too, but we can't be sure of that either. But, we are sure that each one is slightly different from the next (this is what leads us to suspect that they are real shells).
The average size is about 3/4 inch wide by about 1/2 inch high. The faux pearl is 5 mm in diameter. Each little shell has a pierced hole for you to add a thread or a jump ring.

Grab Bag of 5 Random Vintage Pressed Glass Charms

Originally sold in the Five & Dime stores back in the 1920s and 1930s, these very special pressed glass charms were made in Japan. Because styles vary, so do the measurements but the average size is about 1/2 inch long (not including to little metal hanging loop) and about 3/8 inch wide.
Some of the glass colors are transparent, others are variegated and some are solid. Colors range from dark cobalt blue to dark red, milky white, pink, green, butterscotch, turquoise, yellow and more. There are so very many designs, too: elephants, horses, profiles of women and men, a woman's face, roses, hearts and more.
These are new old stock - never used. We even found them in the original box marked Made in Japan. These were manufactured as a novelty - perhaps for a little girl's charm bracelet, so please allow for some variability.

Mini Vintage Cameo Charm
Our little cameo charm is vintage, but we're not really sure of the age. We're guessing it's from the 1970s or 1980s. The cameo features a frosted opaque silhouette of an elegant woman with the classic Victorian updo. This sits upon a jet-black cabochon. The entire piece has been set in a scalloped brass charm setting that has been coated for protection from patination.
We believe the cameo to be resin or plastic, but it's certain a great imitator of glass, because it was hard to tell.
Including the upper hanging loop, the charm measures 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch. So, it would be wonderful on a watch, charm bracelet or necklace.

Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera created designs made of these mini pots on their kitchen walls. They were collectors of most, if not all, traditional Mexican crafts.

Omar, our dearest cat boy, is no longer with us. He rescued us over 13 years ago. He was about 3 then. He was diabetic for 9 years! Imagine - quite the cat record! The day after we lost him, he sent us Gypsy, a lovely lady calico whom we thought was feral, taunting the dogs in the neighborhood. Alas, we discovered that she was abandoned. Now she owns the dogs and us!

The term white elephant is one we remember from the 1950s and 1960s tag sales - often called White Elephant Sales. The white elephant was a rare and beautiful animal and considered sacred in southeast Asian countries as Burma (now Myanmar), Siam (now Thailand), Laos and Cambodia. Still sacred in Myanmar and Thailand, the White Elephant is expected to bring peace and prosperity to the owner. Receiving a gift of a white elephant is both a blessing and a curse. It's rarity makes it a blessing, but to care for it makes it a curse, as it is so expensive.

Vintage Hank of Blue Glass Beaded Triplet Bead Charms
This round circle bundle of beads is composed of little triplets. Three little bead charms are hooked together on a jump ring. Each of the 144 little triplets can be used just as is or taken apart and used individually. That would make 432 little individual linked bead!
The beads measure 4mm in diameter and are a gorgeous royal blue. The metal loops are made of aged brass. Now, these are vintage, and we didn't count each individual bead on the hank, but we're pretty sure it's close if not exactly 144 triplets.

Las Siete Potencias Removable Charm
Removable charms like these from the Victor Flores collections of QT Charms have been trendy since 2003 when they were originally introduced. We were particularly taken by the clarity of the image in this removable charm featuring the classic image of Las Siete Potencias, alternatively known as the Seven African Powers.
The 7 Powers are attributed Yoruban derived religions, mainly spread by the movement of African peoples throughout the world, particularly into the Americas. Mini Handmade Glazed Terra Cotta Pot, Jug or Bowl with Handle
These little handmade pots, bowls and jugs are a traditional Mexican craft. They are used for doll houses as well as for ofrendas or tables in celebration of Los Dias de los Muertos. They measure about 1/2 to 3/4 inches in diameter and another little bit for the handle.

This versatile component has been excellently hand-carved of bone and features a variegated coloring from a smoking process. Each Buddha is slightly different due to its hand-made nature and the natural materials.
It is flat-backed for gluing to a project. But, it also features a stringing hole from top to bottom and a charm or pendant hole above Buddha's head. Each one measures 1-7/8 inch high by 15/16 inch at the widest point. From front to back, he measures about 1/2 inch.

Hand-Made Sterling Silver Sugar Skull Charm
We were delighted to find these wonderful sterling silver charms! Made to resemble festive sugar skulls each is created by hand - shaped, stamped and etched to create a very special image. So, although they are all similar, each is a touch different from the next because of the nature of artisan-made charms.
There is a hanging hole at the top. And the eyes and nose are open as well to add an fun airy look. These are substantial, but still light enough to make earrings. Each measures about 1-3/16 inch long by 13/15 inch at the widest part.

Democrats, zoologists and animal lovers will adore this lovable little donkey with his perky ears and friendly expression. The vintage charm itself is ivory colored so you could really paint it if you like.
Whether our donkey is a jack (male) or jenny (female), it is so very sweet. Donkeys were endeared to Jesus Christ, who was often pictured riding one. Although they are work animals, many of them are treated as pets. Other religions are not as fond of the animal. Considering that the population of donkeys has grown tremendously over the last few years, we know they are hardy animals and are willing to please. Thomas Nast created a cartoon declaring the donkey to represent the Democratic political party in the USA (he also declared the elephant to represent the Republicans).

In the small village of Pomaire, Chile, it is believed that Chanchitos, little pigs, bring good luck. Three-legged Chanchitos, like this little bead or charm, are especially fortunate and are traditionally given to friends and family as a token of goodwill and love.
You can use this little piggy in so very many ways. He stands nicely all by himself, so you can sit him down on a table or with your miniatures. Measuring a slight 1 inch, our little plastic Santa Claus charm might be mistaken for an Elf. All dressed in red with a snowy white beard, he's waving either hello or good-bye, or, perhaps he might be signaling the other elves to begin their work!
Rather than a traditional loop for hanging, his little cap hooks over into a loop, making him even more special. He can even stand on his own because of the precise molding and trimming.
These little guys are created by a small family-run company in Germany. Skilled artisans, using old-world techniques and plenty of time, have been creating these miniatures for more than 70 years. Long associated with the hearth and home, the chimneysweep has been considered throughout Europe to bring different kinds of luck. In England, it is lucky for a bride to see a sweep on her wedding day. For many countries, chimneysweeps are the sign of a new beginning and are associated with prosperity in the New Year. Legends abound about this black-suited hard worker who cleaned the fireplaces and chimneys for royalty and commoners alike.
Our little black charm is finely detailed molded plastic - and measures a slight 1 inch high. The inset in the illustration shows the back of the sweep. Although there isn't an actual hanging loop, there are plenty of places in his ladder that could double as loops.

Vintage Mechanical Plastic Turtles from the 1960s
These great little old-stock mechanical turtles arrived after a long hibernation in storage. Meant for the vending machines of the 1960s, these little fellows have a wiggly tail and head. They were probably only a penny (or at most a nickel) way back when a small coin could get a ton of loot for kids who knew where to look!
These are in great condition for their age, but be careful with them because they certainly weren't designed to last. There is a little loop hole on the bottom of each - so you can even turn one into a charm.
We've crated each one in a tiny reusable plastic case to protect him on his way to you. These are in assorted colors only - some are two-tone (head and tail one color and shell another) and some are all one color. There are so many variations, please let SilverCrow choose one for you.
