This cool old fashioned crumb sweeper is still quite useful for formal dinner parties and for messy kids, teenagers and adults (like me!). Made in the late 1950s or early 1960s, it's a product straight from the Mad Men era; yet it is a product still used in the finer restaurants albeit in a slightly different form.
This fun novelty arrives in its original packaging - printed in pink and brown and black on cool white cardboard. There is no pre-price, so we're guessing that it was probably around 49¢ if that, maybe even 25¢. The graphics are the same on both sides of the header and include some illustrations evocative of 1950's ladies and a gentleman using this useful product.
The header reads:
A National Product Crumb Sweeper No. 46 An Ideal Novelty for Sweeping Dressing Tables... Keeps Desks, Tables and Any Tops Clean...
The bag is made of plastic rather than cellophane which dates them to the latter part of the 1950s or early 1960s - just as predicted by the folks in The Graduate - plastics, indeed! were quickly becoming the future!
The dust pan measures 4-3/8 inches at the widest by 4-5/8 inches high and the brush measures just over 3-1/2 inches wide by 3-3/4 inches high. The broom hooks nicely into a hole in the pan to keep the set easily together.
These are in fine condition for their age. We suspect that you might even like this for your art table and might like to order more than one - another for a friend!

We LOVE LOVE LOVE this product. We sold a similar product, the Dirt Eraser, and this is just as fantastic!
This wonderful spongy cleaner is fantastic for cleaning old book covers with out ruining them. It has hundreds of other uses, too. We first discovered it when volunteering in a school library, and we've had them around ever since.
Anyone who likes to alter old things will love this! Just imagine being able to clean a part of something and leave the rest as is - and there is no water or other liquid involved, so it's unlikely that you'll destroy anything. Of course, please be careful when working with very valuable items and items that have a pH problem.
The sponge is also great for removing smoke from walls - be it cigarette smoke, soot from a fire or even candle smoke residue. It will clean soot round fireplace bricks and wood burning stoves. It's great for window blinds and shades, wood paneling, molding, acoustical tile and lampshades. It's perfect for automotive headliners, velour seats, dust on the dash - even leather, vinyl and canvas!
For easy dirt, dust, smoke and soot removal, start at the top and use light, even sweeping motions in one direction as the DIRT ERASER absorbed. Avoid using excessive pressure and do not scrub and do not wet.
This is made of vulcanized natural rubber, so please do not use this if you have a rubber or latex allergy.
This sponge will last a long time - you can even use it when it is dirty! AND - if it gets just too, too dirty, you can wash it with plain soap and water - just don't use it again until it dries thoroughly.

Originally created to hold pencils, pens, erasers and the like, we think this would make a great shrine or case for anything, really!
The box measures 9-1/8 inch long by 3 inches wide and just over 3/4 inch deep. There is a small inset inside (about 1-1/4 inch). When closed, it looks a bit like a long skinny book.
The inside dimensions of the long section measure 2-5/8 inches wide by 7-1/8 inches long by 1/2 inch deep. The shorter section (probably for erasers) measures 2-5/8 inches wide by 1-1/4 inch long by 1/2 inch deep.
