Once in an old black and white movie, a young woman adeptly removed a single hairpin from her French Twist hairdo and gorgeous brunette hair tumbled down across her shoulders. I thought this was the coolest thing I had ever seen - when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I wish I could remember the movie.
I spent years perfecting this technique and finally mastered it. Alas, my hair is not yet completely silver, but these lovely pins work well in any color hair. They disappear in silver, grey and even white hair. And the accent brunette, auburn, red and blonde. You might even glue a doo-dad to the rounded end for a special hair adornment.
They are also lots of fun to use in projects. Because of their unique shape, you might be able to use them to position things in your assemblages. They are made of steel wire, so they may eventually rust. They have not so far. These are only from the the 1980s - but that makes them officially vintage.
Each measures 2 inches by 1/2 inch wide as they arrive.

Full Card of Vintage De Long Safety Pins

What a find! Here's a full card of DeLong Never-Rust Safety Pins. The display card is in superb condition as are the pins themselves. Each card measures 5-1/4 inches tall by 2-1/2 inches wide and displays 6 safety pins. The pins are held from the back in the simplest of manners - a slice of cardstock slips through the backs of the pins.
When these were originally sold - back around 1950, the price was only 10¢ per card. These are old store stock - never used - they were found in the old Janney-Marshall building in Fredericksburg, Virginia. They show very little if any aging.

Each of these nails is completely different from the next because they are hand forged - by blacksmiths in the Moroccan bazaar. Some are as long as 8 cm (over 3 inches) and some are as short as 5 cm (about 2 inches).
They make great components for collage and assemblage artwork and jewelry. But, please also consider them for their original intent - as nails.
In earlier times, nails were so valuable that when a building burned down, people would scramble to retrieve the nails. There were no machines making nails - each one was made by hand like these.
