Saint Monica Medal - Patron of Homemakers, Alcoholics, difficult marriages and Protector of the Abused

More Divorce
Saint Monica was born in 322 AD and raised in a Christian family. Unfortunately, as was tradition in those times, she was given away in marriage by her parents. Unfortunately, her family did not choose well for her. She was married to a pagan named Patricius, who was quite ill-tempered and certainly adulterous.
St. Monica was the mother of two, one of whom is Saint Augustine. She prayed constantly for her husband and her wayward son, Augustine, who lived quite a wild life, according to his writings, before his conversion. Her prayers were answered for them both, as her Patricius converted on his deathbed.
Our medal is made of silvery metal in Italy. Two medals are shown to illustrate front and back.

More Animals of All Kinds
There are so very many ways to find a pet. But what we love most is when our pets rescue us. There are rescue groups for just about every animal. We have 4 animals who share our home and workplace - 2 greyhounds, 1 Dalmatian and an ornery girl cat! Every one of them is considered a "rescue". But we know we're the ones who were rescued. This charm helps each of them announce that!
This nice round charm measures 15/16 inch in diameter and has a nice big hole for stringing or for adding to a collar.
Please support your animal shelters and let a wonderful animal adopt you!

St Rock (aka St Roch) - Patron Saint of Dogs & More - Charm or Medal
More Medals & Milagros
More Dogs
More Get Well Wishes
This lovely medal is just about 1 inch long and 5/8 inch long. St Roch (also known as St Rock, St Rocco and St Roque) was a French nobleman who was known for tending to the sick and the poor. He was able to miraculously cure so very many, but, alas contracted the plague himself. Not wanting to infect anyone else, he set off to the forest to die.
He was befriended by a dog who stole scraps of food from the family table and fed them to St Rock in the forest. He was able to recover with thanks to the dog, so his image generally shows a dog by his side. St Rock was falsely accused for being spy and spent the rest of his life in jail. He was tended to by an angel while imprisoned.
St Rock is the patron of those who are sick with the plague, cholera and other such afflictions, as well as skin and knee problems. His other patronages include the protection of falsely accused people and invalids.
He is best known as the beloved patron saint of dogs, falsely accused people and invalids.
On the back the medal reads: Pray for Us with a wildflower beside the wording.
We're showing two medals to illustrate the front and back.

Save a Stray Silvery Charm
More Cats
Best Friends Animal Society in Utah has a campaign against puppies. Oh, don't get them wrong, they love puppies as much as any dog lover. But their contention is that there are far too many stray dogs for us waiting for loving, forever homes - so why not save one for yourself. We can (almost) guarantee that you the stray will save you rather than the other way around!
Measuring 1-1/4 by 1/4 inch, it is perfect for a bracelet, but we like it even more as an extra add-on to a charm necklace celebrating animals. It is made of modern silvery pewter (containing no lead) and has a shabby chic appearance - perfect for its message.
Start a campaign yourself, and give some of these away, too. Or add it to a zipper on a jacket - or loop it on a cell phone or back pack!

Art Postcard - Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorhands, 1991
More Postcards
Edward Scissorhands is from the genius of Tim Burton. He began as a drawing by a young Tim remembering the isolation and frustration he felt as a child. We're big fans of Johnny Depp here at SilverCrow. His capacity to ignore the normal gives him the freedom of expression and life we love. His bittersweet performance transcends the original script as he brings Edward to life.
Yes, the film is a bit odd, but we love it for its sweetness. Tim Burton's character shines through to capture Edward's plight as our own. Photographer Herb Ritts has, as usual, brought the entire story into one frame with this stunning shot.

Sterling Silver Hand Milagro Charm
More Milagros
Just like the traditional milagros made of silvery metal, this lovely hand milagro can represent so many things. It's meaning, as with many milagros is subject to interpretation. Our hands are used for so very many things: to work, to welcome, to hold, to help, to caress. How many feelings they convey when we speak - if we hold them in our laps, flail them high, touch someone, ...
In any case, this lovely sterling silver hand might just be the most appropriate for your next project or to add to your charm bracelet, nicho or memory project.

Artists' Artistamps - Man Ray: Glass Tear
More Artistamps
Sited or used by so many others, this image of a tear (sometimes seen as the original photograph with many tears) may well be Man Ray's most famous photographic work. The original has been cropped, as it was for the cover a 1934 book of Ray's photos.
Although this appears to be a real woman, it was actually a fashion mannequin with tears of glass beads! This photograph was taken in Paris around the time that Man Ray broke up with his lover Lee Miller. So perhaps the tear is more (or less) meaningful than we think.
These faux postage stamps are beyond compare. Usually only sold in the world's best museums, SilverCrow is delighted to offer this special set of artistamps.
Please remember that these are gummed (not self-stick!) faux postes and not to be used to replace the true postage necessary for mailing!

Meditation Kit - Kuan Yin
Saraswati Meditation Kit
More Metaphysical
Kuan Yin (觀音) is the bodhisattva (or, goddess) of compassion. Although she is most commonly known in the west as a woman, Kuan Yin is just as likely to be represented as a man, a younger Buddha.
She is also known as the Goddess of Compassion and Mercy by many, making her quite a reverential being meant to help the sentient beings. She is often considered immortal. The name Kuan Yin is short for Kuan-shih Yin, meaning,

Mother Teresa Medal
Honored with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, Mother Teresa has become an icon of selflessness in the modern world. She was born in 1910 as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Macedonia. At 18 she joined the Sisters of Loreto and began her work in India. She was so distressed at the poverty and helplessness of the poor, that eventually she began her work among them, starting at first an open air school, and later, her own order, "The Missionaries of Charity." Members of her community are now continuing her work in over 40 countries.

This is My Wish for You
Frequently one wishes to say to another, "I wish you the best of everything." This book delivers this message with power and sincerity. Welleran Poltarnees has taken Charles Snell's text and selected a painting or illustration for each wish, giving additional life to an already marvelous text.
We assert, without exaggeration, that this is the nearly perfect gift book. It is the smaller hardcover version of a book with the same title, measuring 4-1/2 by 6-1/2 inches.
This is a book created to be given. At its center is a poem by Charles Snell which was written for, and published in, 1914 as a small gift book. In it the giver, in a series of concrete images, extends the recipient many good wishes.
In the 48-page volume, Snell's words are presented within borders made by Daniel Maclise for a book entitled Moore's Irish Melodies, published in 1846. Selected images accompany each wish. These are made by a great variety of painters and illustrators, and range over more than 150 years.
This Is My Wish for You is in the tradition of ancient blessings, in which one tries, through the power of language, to throw a mantle of protection and beneficence over the receiver.
