We just fell in love with this little vintage bow when we saw it! Doesn't it look like the perfect bow tie for a lovely little doll? Or a wonderful addition to assemblage earrings or a necklace?
Each one measures a bit over 3/4 inch wide by 1/2 inch high at the bow ends and it's about 1/8 thick.
The bow is made of vintage oxidized mesh and the center is a bit shinier, but shows a fine vintage patina as well.

This versatile component has been excellently hand-carved of bone and features a variegated coloring from a smoking process. Each Buddha is slightly different due to its hand-made nature and the natural materials.
It is flat-backed for gluing to a project. But, it also features a stringing hole from top to bottom and a charm or pendant hole above Buddha's head. Each one measures 1-7/8 inch high by 15/16 inch at the widest point. From front to back, he measures about 1/2 inch.

Several years ago, I found a wonderful plastic store in New York City. There were bins full of these motifs that were made for people who never picked them up for some reason. After digging through them for just the perfect ones for a special project, I found a very few of these mirrored Plexiglas silhouettes of a greyhound standing - ready for anything!
Some may have minor scratches, but they are all in great shape. We only have as many as they had that day, so we can't get any more. Each greyhound measures 2-1/4 inches tall by 2 inches wide. S/he is flat on both sides, but only the front is mirrored. The motif is about 3mm thick.

How much fun are these!? We've tried to learn to roll Fimo & other polymer clay into sticks or rolls and we always end up with marbleized clay - a fancy way to say we couldn't come up with a picture. With these, we don't have to worry. The picture has already been rolled into the sticks. So, all you do slice and bake. Don't worry, the instructions are included.
If you don't have a smiley face then a smiley heart is the next best thing - or maybe even better. With a pink smiling heart within a purple border, this will make delightful components for youngsters or adults.
You can slice them to any depth - and can even make the diameter smaller or larger (instructions for this technique included, too). To make a bead or charm, just make a hole before you bake.
Rolls measure 50mm long by 15mm in diameter (about 5/8 inch). So you can make a bunch of beads, components or charms from just one roll!

Small Vintage Plastic Orange or Coral Heart (or Leaf) Cabochon
We have always been celluloid and plastic fans here at SilverCrow. There are ever so many possibilities. Especially fun are the flat-backed cabochons like this cool little orange heart. We were torn between calling this a heart or a leaf, because the edges are more leafy, but upon closer examination, it appears to be a heart. Either way, it's quite nice.
Each of these measures 9mm from top to bottom and 8mm from side to side. The profile (thickness) is about 3mm. They are flat-backed for easy gluing. The ridges catch the light, making them even more perfect for your artwork. Make a quick pair of earrings buy gluing posts to the back, or use it in a plastic collage. There are so very many possibilities!

We can't really call it a trend, because designers have been doing it for years - adapting vintage jewelry into newer items - but now there is a new name for it: upcycling! These vintage glass tipped pins were made in Japan, well known for quality costume jewelry components. But we love the older ones even more. The white glass bead tip measures 8mm in diameter. Vintage 1939 New York World's Fair Cabochon

What a find! This little plastic cabochon (12mm in diameter) features golden orange lettering and captures a stylized image of the 700-fott high Trylon, the Perisphere (180 feet in diameter) and the Helicline (950 foot ramp).
The theme of the fair was The World of Tomorrow. Right outside this interesting building was the fair's main attraction - Democracity, a utopian city of the future. Fairgoers viewed Democracity from above on a moving sidewalk, under movies displayed on the sides of the sphere. This was all so very modern at the time. And, we guess that we're living in that world today.
The domed cabochon appears almost like a glass paperweight as the image appears to be projected from the bottom with a clear domed top.
This is truly a rare find and we only have a few of them.

Silver Alloy Double Headpins (or Stamens) - WOW!
Just wait till you start playing with these. For the jeweler or milliner or artist of any kind, we think you'll be amazed with these double-headed headpins. Use them to twist around beads to form a cage. They also make a very special stamen in hand-made flowers.
You might even fold the pin in half and slide the loop through your stone, bead or charm and the ends through the loop. The possibilities only end with your imagination.
Although these are new, they are truly old-school, having been used in jewelry making earlier in the 20th century.
Measuring 60mm, this fine gauge (1mm) silver alloy wire is flexible, but very sturdy. The ball heads (not flat) are hand-formed.

Plastic and composition pieces were major components in jewelry in the mid-20th century. Probably beginning around the 1930s and 1940s. They were popularized by Hollywood heroines and continue to be popular for their stylized design and kitschy colors.
This sweet plastic (or celluloid) lacy heart pendant is exceptionally beautiful in its ivory color. Across the middle, in script, is written,
Sweetheart
This is probably from the late 1950s or early 1960s. There is a top hole if you care to attach a jump ring for hanging, or just use the opening in the heart itself. The front of the cabochon is loaded with detail - it almost looks like real lace! The heart measures approximately 1-3/4 by 1-13/16 inch.

Tiny Vintage Raw Copper cabochon Base
Measuring in at only 12 by 7 mm (about 1/2 by 1/4 inch), these little raw copper bezel settings for cabochons might be just what you need for your next project. The inner circumference of the oval is about 10 by 5 mm (about 7/16 by 3/16 inch). There is no hanging loop, so this is perfect for attaching to the front of a locket or other necklace or charm base. Or, add a loop of your own to make it into a charm. Because it is raw copper, you should be able to easily patina it as well.

Tiny Vintage Ivory Lucite Cameo Bust Cabochon
Now you can make your own cameos - with polymer clay, metal art clay, or of whatever you choose. These are tiny, yet highly detailed.
Each of the vintage cameo bust cabochons features a little rectangular protrusion on the back - allowing you to press the bust into your clay. Please be careful when you experiment - we don't suggest that you heat these as you would the clay. It might be a good idea to create the slot for the cabochon, then bake the clay, then glue the cab in place.
Whatever you choose to do with these will certainly be wonderful! Each measures 9 mm wide by 14 mm high.

Vintage Celluloid Raised Rose Cabochon
This gorgeous celluloid cabochon was made in the early- to mid-20th century. Each is slightly different due to the shading of the rose and its stem and leaves. We thought these beautiful when we bought them and we're really having a hard time parting with them. Each cabochon measures 13 mm wide by 18 mm long and features a profile of about 5 mm.

Our darling little angel trio is a sweet vintage piece created of lightweight ivory plastic cupids. This flat-backed cabochon can also be used as a charm - even though there is no real hanging loop.

Our sweet little locket featuring Our Lady of Grace can be used in so many ways. As a traditional locket, add some pictures and hang on a necklace. Because there are two loops at the top arcs of the heart, you'll have very special looking piece. There is also a loop at the bottom - perfect for a rosary center or for hanging a little bead or crystal.
This locket is created from raw brass, so, it's in natural finish tone and will tarnish. If you like the color, then just use a preservative wax or varnish for jewelry. Vintage Glass Sacred Heart Cabochon

Our little (just 15mm in diameter) glass cabochons feature a metallic image of the Sacred Heart. The vibrant red of the heart is nicely offset by the black background.
Across the heart is a golden twining, which we imagine to represent the crown of thorns and a golden cross sits atop the cross. These cabochons were reverse glass painted, making them so very special. There is some flaking on the back - as they have aged. We love the patina-ed look!

Vintage Glass Mona Lisa Cabochon
Our vintage Mona Lisa clear and frosted glass cabochon has been created as an intaglio. (An intaglio is the quite the opposite of a cameo - the image being incised into the base. This lovely glass piece will fit in standard in a standard 14mm by 18mm setting.
We have placed the glass cabochon on a black background for a better illustration of the detail. The component is clear and frosted glass.

Mini Clock Cabochon Component
So often our artwork or card making calls for a component representing time, either specifically or in representing time together, forgotten (or remembered) times, or that some moments are timeless.
Our tiny clock face component is a perfect addition for those projects. The numbers are Roman numerals, and the time is set at the classic 12 minutes after 10 (morning or night matters not). The face also bears the inscriptions

on the face. Of course, it is not a quartz clock and time stands still on the face of it, but for special projects you may find it just the right thing!

Small Vintage Plastic Red Heart Cabochon
We have always been celluloid and plastic fans here at SilverCrow. There are ever so many possibilities. Especially fun are the flat-backed cabochons like this sweet red heart. We were torn between calling this red and pink, because the color is really somewhere in the middle.
Each of these measures 14mm from top to bottom and from side to side. The profile (thickness) is about 4mm. They are flat-backed for easy gluing. The ridges catch the light, making them even more perfect for your artwork. Make a quick pair of earrings buy gluing posts to the back, or use it in a plastic collage. There are so very many possibilities!
