Elegant Universal Tarot Deck by Salvador Dalí

Universal Tarot Deck by Salvador Dalí

Throughout his odd life and career, Dalí provided both his admirers and critics with ample substance for discussion. He is best known for his surreal and often philosophical works which erase the defenses amongst mind, matter, spirit and the netherworld. Rarely content with the rational, the tarot in any form was obvious choice project for his later years.

This deck is nothing less than spectacular! It is fully functional for any tarot reading you may undertake. But please consider it for the delicious artwork and fine craftsmanship.

Cards are approximately 3-1/8 by 5 inches and arrive in a lovely velvet slip case. Each card is edged in 24-carat gold. The major arcana are captioned in both English and Dalí's native Spanish. Card backs are designed with a repeating Dalí signature.

Interestingly enough, he chose a self-portrait of himself as The Magician!

Turning away from the powerful Cubist influence of fellow painter Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí incorporated the hallucinatory qualities of Surrealism in his paintings and went on to become one of the 20th century's most famous artists.

The melting clocks in his Persistence of Memory are among the most recognizable images in modern art. That well-known work appears here in sticker format along with 15 other scrupulously reproduced works by the Spanish artist, among them The Visage of War, Figure at a Window, The Enigma of Desire and Surrealist Poster.

Printed with acid-free inks, papers and adhesives.

Art Post Card by Salvador Dalí (1925) - Muchacha de Espalda (aka Seated Girl, Girl from Behind)

Close-Up

Art Postcard by Dalí - Muchacha de Espalda

Alternatively titled Girl from the Back and Girl Seated, this lovely reproduction art postcard is suitable for framing. Hailing from Dalí's early period (1925), many are surprised at this surrealist's realism!

This fine portrait is of Dalí's sister Ana Maria as are others of his portraits from his early years. Ana Maria is seated and relaxed. Although her face does not appear to us immediately, her glance is the main idea of the painting. Notice the lines of his sister's gown and those of the buildings - already we see his unique eye that easily joins the static, still life of the world with the living breath of reality of human life.
