Each Day of the Dead Mini Butterfly is hand made in the tradition of the Day of the Dead pieces made by traditional Mexican artisans. And, it carries the significance of the butterfly - the metamorphosis from cocoon to beautiful butterfly!

The gorgeous monarch butterflies that summer up north return to Mexico for the winter. They enjoy the protection of the oyamel fir trees. Anyone would welcome the lovely butterflies just for their beauty, but the local residents believe that the butterflies bear the spirits of their beloved ancestors, which are honored during Los Dias de los Muertos.

Each measures about 42inches from top to bottom and just about 2 inches wide and has a self hanging hook on the back. Well, even Oprah tried it, so we guess pole dancing isn't as taboo as it once was. Our Day of the Dead Pole Dancer represents that sensual part of all of us.

All of our Day of the Dead figures are made by traditional artisans and are hand sculpted and painted by traditional Mexican artisans. Each of these Muertas measures about 3 inches high, but the pole may make it larger. Our Day Of The Dead Papier Mâché Judas is a traditional character present in many Mexican and Central American celebrations. By tradition, Judas characterizations are made in the images of those in authority - such as judges and the police. In celebrations, they are filled with gun powder and fireworks and when exploded, a great cloud of paper scraps and smoke appears, the paper raining down around the celebrants.

Of course, ours is an image only (no gun powder or fireworks are included). Figures like this little fellow were made even more popular by Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera as they began to collect them along with other local folk art.

Each of these is very different from the next - from his horns to his wings to his body decoration. These are hand sculpted, painted and decorated by traditional artisans in the same manner they have made these for decades.

Every Judas is vibrantly colored in reds, blues and yellows. The approximate measurements are 15-1/2 inches from the tip of his horns to the bottoms of his feet. From wingtip to wingtip, he is about 7-1/4 inches wide. And, as he sits on your shelf or chair, he measures 7 inches from front to back.

Four little Day of the Dead Pall Bearers transport the coffin of a friend (who, by the looks of it, is not yet ready to depart this world. This tiny procession even includes a flowery wreath with a banner. Lots smaller than our larger funeral, this little vignette is made of traditional hand-made clay and plaster and then hand painted..

Just like the rest of our Day of the Dead Figurines, each of these scenes is hand sculpted and painted by traditional artisans in Mexico. The pall bearers are each made separately and are about 2-3/8 inches high. The enitre piece measures 3 inches from front to back and 2-5/8 inches from side to side, and - depending on the position of the departed, the height is about 3-1/2 inches.

Handmade Glazed Terra CotTa Bowl with handle

These little handmade pots are a traditional Mexican craft. They are used for doll houses as well as for ofrendas or tables in celebration of Los Dias de los Muertos. Measuring about 1-1/2 inches in diameter and another little bit for the handle, these are shallow bowls that are hand formed, so, each is a bit different. There is a primitive glaze applied for the firing which makes these absolutely stunning in their simplicity and old-world look.
