One of our customers found these for us and were we ever delighted! Such lovely angel wings, butterfly wings, fairy wings, .... These are made of hard plastic and are from the mid-20th century! We just love them because you can use them either way (as shown in the illustration).
Each has a textured, embossed side and a flat side, so they can be glued as well as used as charms!
You can paint them, rub them with pigments - there are just so many possibilities.
Each wing measures 1-3/4 inch across by 1 inch high.

René Magritte is one of the most well known surrealistic artists of the 20th century. He was intent on re-thinking reality and observing the common place absurdly and the absurd commonly.
This 2-sheet set of artistamps features images from his several panel mural that can be seen in the Knokke-le-Zoute Casino in Belgium. Created in 1953, the mammoth mural measures 71.3 meters round and 4.3 meters high.
Presented in two 5 by 6 inches sheets of 6 stamps each, with water-activated adhesive in the fashion of traditional postage. Each Artistamp is approximately 1-9/16 by 2 inches. Even the edges are printed with portions of the evocative mural!

These fantastic scraps are vintage - over 50 years old! They were created by a company named EAS - E. A. Schwerdtfeger, Berlin. They produced scrap pictures like these from 1880 to 1980. These scrap picture sheets are new old stock - usually to save. But, we like to use them for creating vintage-style ornaments and décor - with vintage parts. These are in great condition, but they are old and they are paper, so please be careful.
These images are being reproduced today, but this is a vintage sheet. The little gnomes are busy visiting fairy friends, talking with birds, telling stories, fishing and more.

Artist Kate Dawidziak is the artist who created this gorgeous note card featuring ravens or crows along with a lovely fairy with magnificent black wings. She is overlooking the water from atop a rocky precipice. Either snow or falling stars are around her as she thoughtfully contemplates.
The image on the front of the card is echoed mistily inside the card as well, muted enough for you to inscribe your message.
The card is accompanied by an illustrated envelope. But, for those of you who prefer your message to be sent incognito, we are adding, at no extra charge, a kraft "paper bag" style envelope just in that case.
This card was made using earth-friendly materials, with a minimum of 50 % post consumer recycled paper. The accompanying printed envelop is mixed-eco paper which may include sugarcane, kenaf, bamboo and recycled wood pulp. All printing is with soy based inks. The extra kraft envelope is made of recycled paper as well.
The card measures 4-7/8 by 7 inches.

Flower fairies are tiny (none taller than 8 inches) and live in the forest, marshes, gardens and such. Most of the images were originally created in watercolor and many have been used in all types of applications from towels to books to household décor. These lovely Victorian-style scraps are images of Ms Barkers that will help you create some charming projects.

What a very special Dresden! Be it a butterfly, a moth or even fairy's wings, the detail is amazing. The trimming is beyond precise and the embossed accents are simply stunning.
Each side is gorgeous as the gilded paper is perfectly applied to either side. Each butterfly measures 4-3/8 inch by 4-3/4 inch. Dresdens just like this one were often hung by golden threads on holiday trees, in windows and elsewhere.

Every one is different than the next one - and all are cleverly adorned with glitter, tulle and more. Some are even carrying little mariposas (butterflies) or posies of their own. We can't promise you which color their butterfly-like feather wings will be as everyone of these enchanted muertos is different as they are all hand-made. So, please let us choose one for you.
Each measures about 2 inches high and, if you're careful, you can pose your fairy. But, please, do so with care as their little plastic bones are not as supple as they once were! Their wingspans vary from 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches.

Such gorgeous butterflies - and just the perfect beads for the Days of the Dead! What a lovely addition to a shrine or ofrenda these would make.
The gorgeous monarch butterflies that summer up north return to Mexico for the winter. They enjoy the protection of the oyamel fir trees. Anyone would welcome the lovely butterflies just for their beauty, but the local residents believe that the butterflies bear the spirits of their beloved ancestors, which are honored during Los Dias de los Muertos.
The stringing hole goes from top to bottom and measures just under 3mm, so it should accommodate many beading techniques. The beads measure 1 inch from top to bottom and 1-1/8 inch from wing tip to wing tip.
No two are painted the same and wing color differs, as does the decoration. Each little butterfly has a flower in her hair as well!
We will try to honor your request for a color preference, but we cannot guarantee any particular color, so please let us choose one for you. If you order more than one and want similar coloring, please let us know and we'll try to honor that, too.

Old-fashioned spun cotton mushrooms have graced Christmas trees, corsages and other items for decades. These lovely amanita mushrooms are created of spun cotton and made by the same family business that made the vintage red and brown mushrooms we offer. The company has really gone out of business, but agreed to make some of these green mushrooms especially for the American trade.
These new stock mushrooms measure about 1 inch from the bottom of the stem to the top of the cap and could very easily pass for the vintage ones as the technique is exactly the same..
The green caps are hand stained to look real. They are are highly lacquered and are dotted with little white spots - just like the real mushrooms! The stems are wire wrapped in green paper.
These pretty mushrooms might really be toadstools, not to be eaten in the wild - and, our spun cotton version should not be eaten either! It is rumored that Santa's reindeer pranced around in a flying frenzy after eating these little beauties, allowing them to help Santa travel throughout the world and deliver presents.
Amanita mushrooms are considered good luck in many cultures, especially in Germany. You'll often see them pictured with gnomes, elves and fairies in children's literature.

Each of these diamond beads features a molded image that genuinely resembles a carved bead with a featured dragon. Each bead is hand made in the modern tradition of cinnabar, evoking the spirit of centuries-past Asian artisans' work.
These beads are reversible and the stringing hole is about 1mm. These make a stunning pair of earrings, especially when paired with black crystals and golden findings. Each bead measures about 1/2 inch square by about 1/4 inch thick. The dragon is a popular symbol in Asian culture, conjuring the spirit of masculine vigor and power. True cinnabar is deadly, made of red mercuric sulfide. [If, by the way, you have any vintage or antique cinnabar, be sure to treat it with care and do not wear it against your skin. Long known for their attention to detail and and precise workmanship, such craftsmanship has become the standard to which others aspire. Their design skills were just as admirable. Each little fellow is holding something different and all parts are made of wood. Then the little guys were hand-painted, and each has an attached yellow-gold cord for hanging.

Trimming a holiday tree became prominent during the Victorian times, and spun glass angel's hair or fairy's hair like this was on of the favorites then as it is now! It adds a touch of elegant whimsy to any display - especially when there are electric lights. The soft glow of the cloud-like hair enhances any lights - either white or color.
Still handmade in the traditional manner by a family company, each bag contains 15 grams of non-inflammable super-fine spun glass fibers. Although such spun glass hair is available from other sources, the German spun glass angel hair is truly curly hair. It does not compress easily and will stay curly. Use it as you would tinsel for special effects.

We at SilverCrow were lucky to find a source in German for real, vintage spun glass components so that you can create Victorian style ornaments for Christmas, Valentine's Day, or just because you want to make them!
These pieces were made by hand in a factory in Lauscha, Germany well before World War II. They are certainly elegantly crafted by highly-skilled artisans who were undoubtedly proud to work.
Spun Glass is a form of fiberglass, so it can be irritating and is not recommended for children. And, even though these are in excellent shape, because of the age of the pieces, we suggest you be quite careful when using them for crafting.
These pieces are traditionally used as wings for angels, birds, butterflies and moths. But they may also substitute for the Spun Glass Skirt or Tail.

We had elves like these hanging on our Christmas trees back in the 1950s. Were we ever happy to find these reproductions to offer to you! Each little elf is made of a real pine cone that has been dusted with glitter and faux snow to look more wintery. He's holding a tiny bottle brush tree in one hand and ringing his festive bell with the other.
His face is made of real paper pulp, his arms and legs are vintage-style chenille and the fuzzy beard is made of spun cotton. He's about 5 inches high and 3 inches wide - if you position his arms differently you'll be able to add or subtract a bit of width.
Each is all glittery and can either stand on his little circle of snow, or hang from the attached golden thread.
Although these are mass-produced items, they are each made by hand - and are even hand painted! We fell in love with this little fellow and thought you might, too.

He can sit on top of your computer, in an assemblage, memory box or other project. Or, just use him as he was intended - as a bead. The stringing hole runs from right to left through his little red cap.

Portland artist Laini Taylor has created these wonderful note card ornaments. This is not only a card, but a gift ornament, too! You really have to see this wonderful card and ornament - the online illustration does not do justice to such a treat!
This 5 by 7 inch card features a miniature bohemian collage style adornments, framed in a die cut window. The ornament is printed front and back with the image and text. The little ornament is just so very festive with beadwork, wire and a lovely pale blue organza ribbon.
The inside of the card has a light pattern, but no words - so you can add your own sentiment. Each card is packaged with a colorful string and blue button envelope (which may cost a bit more to mail). These cards/ornaments are so very cool that you might just keep one for yourself, or, you might choose to deliver one in person to a special friend!

Plastic Nursery Rhyme Plaque - Jack & Jill in Blue
This vintage 1969 nursery rhyme wall plaque from Invicta measures about 8 inches wide by 5-3/4 inches high. Jill and Jack are running with their pail as a couple of bunnies and a bird look on. It is made of light blue hard plastic and includes the Jack and Jill Nursery Rhyme:
Jack and Jill went up the hill To fetch a pail of water; Jack fell down and broke his crown, And Jill came tumbling after.
This is old-store stock, unused and in great condition. The poem and the characters are raised from the plaque and are highlighted with golden accents. These were manufactured by Invicta Plastics and have lots of detailed information on the back regarding Invicta's company and locations. Some of these have the mounting tabs on the back that may or may not still be sticky. They were originally used to mount on the wall in a child's room - and would look great in a shadow box frame for a nostalgic touch.
There are so many sources of origin claimed for the Jack and Jill rhyme, that it is hard to know which is true. Many nursery rhymes began as satirical poems regarding the politics of the day. Still others were meant tell the stories of history to children, modified to help soften the harsher news.
Some say that Jack and Jill is the story of the beheading of Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette. Others insist that it was modeled after a fairy tale about 2 childhood friends in Norway. And still another associates it with the British monetary unit, gill, and the jackpot that ensued for the country.

Old-fashioned spun cotton mushrooms have graced Christmas trees, corsages and other items for decades. These lovely vintage amanita mushrooms were created of spun cotton back in the mid-20th century and are in wonderful condition. These old store stock beauties measure about 3/4 inch from the bottom of the stem to the top of the cap.
The brown caps are hand stained to look real. They are are highly lacquered and are dotted with little white spots - just like the real mushrooms! The stems are wire wrapped in green paper.
