Handmade Rustic Copper Hand-Shaped Single Switch Plate
More Household
More Useful Décor
Created in the tradition of tinsmiths through the centuries, our metal switch plate can add that special finishing touch to any southwest, rustic or Spanish colonial décor. Made from natural tin, and then aged to a gorgeous coppery brown, in the same tradition as from long ago, you might even consider embellishing and painting one for the perfect look.
The repoussée pounded patterning is elegant and simple at the same time. The crown on top lends an elegant air to the rustic tin. The standard size switch plate is easy to install and has beveled sides and bottom for a truly special look. The entire piece measures approximately 8 inches high by 3-1/2 inches wide.
We have never liked plain plastic switch plates and have either embellished, découpaged or painted them - until we found beautiful ones like these!
Because these are all made by hand, please allow for slight variation.

More Wooden Things
Clothespins like these are so much nicer than the newer clip-type ones. Just hang your laundry and slip the pin over the clothesline. These are in various stages of aging. Some have a great smooth patina; others have been bleached in the sun. Each package contains a mixture similar to the illustration.
These standard size pins measure 3-3/4 inches high by about 1/2 inch in diameter. They are great for their original intention, or place them in a vintage jar and display them in your laundry or kitchen. They are also lovely when wrapped with special ribbon, cording or yarn and displayed in a vintage basket.

Large Ex Voto of a House or Office
More Milagros
Ex votos are much the same as milagros, used as a votive offering in prayer to the Saints, to Jesus or to the Blessed Mother. Both milagros and ex votos are given either in gratitude for prayers answered or for an offering for prayers yet to be answered.
The believer chooses an ex voto (or milagro) that represents the subject of the prayer. This elegantly made voto was created in the image of a house or office. Nicely appointed with windows and a welcoming entrance, the house represents family or security. The office also represents security as well as prosperity. You might choose your own reason for offering this ex voto.
This ex voto is new, made of tin, and measures 3-1/4 inches wide by 2-1/4 inches high. There is a hole at the top center for hanging. This lovely piece is framed with a simple edging.

Labour Saving Hints and Ideas for the Home
This delightful book was originally published in 1924 - combining more than 1,300 hints and ideas that were selected from over 30,000 entries that were submitted to a competition run in the early 1920s. Today the information can be regarded as informative, amusing and even just plain useful.
Do you know how to salvage burnt cakes, clean stained paintwork or sweeten a smoky atmosphere? Well look no further than this fascinating book originally printed in 1924 . . . full of very useful advice. - Ideal Home
This is a great gift for a housewarming or for someone who has everything (almost)!
Now, we don't recommend any of these solutions ourselves, but some just might be worth trying:
After Peeling Onions. - A little mustard well rubbed into the hands will remove the odour.
Rusty Pen Nibs. - If pens are stuck into a potato when not in use, the nibs will not rust and the pens will always be in good condition.
Sewing Machine Hint. - When about to machine muslin or lace, tack a piece of tissue paper over it and then machine. The paper is easily torn away, and the machine needle will not catch in the muslin or lace.
This great little hardcover book measures 7-1/2 by 5-1/16 inches and boasts 258 pages.

This is a lovely host/ess gift or a fine housewarming gift as well.
These vary slightly as all are handmade and painted. There are some other variations as well, each is more wonderful than the next! It measures about 8 inches wide by 8 inches tall.

The Cottage of Content
More Playing Cards
The Cottage Of Content is a role-playing card game for five to seventeen (yes, 5 to 17) players that is reproduced from a very rare antique game. Originally published in the 1850s, this lovely game reinforces the timeless notion that good behavior is to be rewarded.
The game consists of 18 illustrated cards colored in a charmingly primitive style and two cards of Morals. Players experience a bit of living history as they assume the roles of nineteen century characters with names like Sabrina Flirt, Harry Boastful, Samuel Suspicious and Eliza Envious. The Faults of these misbehaved or ill-tempered characters are exposed by Felicia Amiable and Peter placid, then remedied with quaint morals such as:
Rudeness offends all.
Jesting makes no friends.
Envy knows no peace.
At the end of the recitation of morals, Felicia and Peter are given the Cottage of Content as a reward fro their excellent behavior.
The game is packaged in a slipcase (measuring 2-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches) that features a reproduction of the antique label from the game's original box. There are 20 lovely cards plus instructions.

Large Day of the Dead Ofrenda Table
More Day of the Dead Figurines
Day of the Dead Sundries & Specialties
We have searched high and low for a wonderful Day of the Dead Ofrenda to offer to you. And, we finally found one!. From the little wooden table to all of the offerings, everything is hand made and hand painted.
Each table is painted a different color, making the one you receive even more yours! The table top is trimmed with lace and covered with an assortment of foods, skulls, candles, dinnerware and holy pictures. You might consider adding a miniaturized photograph of your ancestor to the table as well.
The entire piece measures 3 inches high (including the offerings). The tables, because they are hand made, vary slightly in size, but they average around 4 inches long by 2-3/4 inches wide.
Although the design is similar, each of the individual pieces varies slightly due to the nature of hand-made folk art. And the items on the table may differ slightly and may even be placed a little differently. We had a hard time choosing which one to photograph as they were all so wonderful!
Please let SilverCrow choose one for you.
