Abalone Smudge Bowl
Whether you are performing a cleansing ceremony before healing, or just because you enjoy the scent, you'll enjoy our smudging supplies. It is important to cleanse the soul and body of bad spirits, negative energies and thoughts. These traditional items are prepared in much the same manner as they have been for generations of Native Americans. The herbs are quite aromatic, even if just displayed and never burned. Smudging involves taking the smoke in to your hands and brush or rub it over your body.
Our sage, copal and cedar bundle measures between 6 and 8 inches long and is tightly woven (ties may differ). Our combination smudge stick brings together the cleansing characteristics of sage and the connection to our ancestors represented by cedar. Copal is known for it's purifications and protection properties. This is just the right size for personal use or for use in a small sweat lodge. This smudge is prepared by hand from natural materials, so please allow for variation.
These wild crafted herbs are gathered into a bundle by the Kumeyaay Indians of Baja California, Mexico, and recognized as an authentic native Indian made product. The selected herbs follow traditional Indian customs practiced by generations for ceremonial purposes. The pointed end of the bundle, while held of a bowl with the sand is then ignited with fire. Blowing on the glowing surface will provide the fragrance smoke. Saying a prayer for someone in need while gently wanding the bundle around the area, will enhance the enjoyment of this ancient ritual. After smudging, rub out the ignited ember in the bowl of sand then place the bundle on your sacred alter for future use.
Never leave smudge burning unattended and please use caution. Keep away from children and never place on a flammable surface.

Epiphany Blessing Set
Plastic Mary Bottle of Lourdes Water
More Shrines & Shrine Supplies
River Jordan Holy Water
With origins in the third century in Egypt, the Epiphany is also known as the twelfth night of Christmas. Its celebration predates the celebration of Christmas itself.
There are many customs surrounding Epiphany and one of our favorites is the home blessing. For years, someone would inscribe what seemed to be a secret message atop my parents' door frame in chalk - both front and back doors. We later found it to be the Epiphany House Blessing. My parents are gone now and just last night, I discovered that our dear friend, Jan, was the mystery blessing giver.
The inscription is the year surrounding the letters CMB and, for 2010, would be inscribed as such:
20+C+M+B+10
The inscription offers a blessing to all who enter the house in the year indicated. The central letters have two meanings:
* Caspar, Melchior, Balthasar (the 3 Kings)
* Christus Mansionem Benedicat (Christ Bless this Home)
The crosses between the numbers and letters represent the protection of Jesus and the holiness of the Magi. It is important that the writing is in chalk as it is a product of clay, recalling the human nature of Jesus as he became man.
This wonderful set from Germany features the Gifts of the Magi and more:
* a golden incense plate * 24 incense cones scented with frankincense and myrrh
* chalk for the inscription
We have added some extras:
* Holy Water from the River Jordan in the Holy Land (to bless the chalk)
* an explanation of the tradition and custom
* the prayers to accompany the inscription
What a wonderful host/ess gift for the Holiday Season!

Natural Quahog half-Shells (Wampum)
Most often associated with Rhode Island, the quahog bi-valve clam is used for food as well as to make jewelry. At one time, wampum beads (fashioned from the purplish-cream inside of the shell) were used in trade between the settlers and the natives in North America.
These elegant shells are beautiful as is, giving a special touch to any shell collection. But they also shine as display dishes for pearls and jewelry, smaller shells and beads.
Native American Indian wampum was colored both purple and off-white, but the largest association is with the purple shells. All of our half-shells have some purple and the exterior is left rough, as found in nature.
As far as we know, the quahog shells offered to you by SilverCrow are the bi-product of someone's dinner. The hand-dug clams were eaten, and, rather than waste the shells, we have purchased the most elegant ones.

Original Three Kings Charcoal for Incense Lighting (Package of 10)
Not all incense is alike. There are many self-lighting incense cones and sticks. But, for powdered or resin incense, you'll need self-lighting charcoal. Three Kings Charcoal disks have long been known as the favorite. This roll contains 10 33mm charcoal disks.
To use, place a single disk of charcoal (round round side down) in an incense censer or other fire-proof dish. The charcoal gets very hot, so do not touch it with your hands once it is lit. Use a pair of tongs to move it. Hold a match to the edge of the disk until the charcoal begins to sparkle - this should continue across the charcoal. Once the disk is lit, add your a small amount of your incense (herbs, resins, powders) to the lit cake of charcoal. The incense material will either melt or burn, releasing its scent into the air. This will burn for several minutes. Add more if you want to savor the effect longer.
Please let the tablet burn out and cool in the censer or fire-proof dish. To extinguish a tablet before it has fully cooled, quench in a container of cold water. Do not discard burning charcoal immediately. Ensure that it is extinguished completely and is absolutely cooled before discarding.

Copal Incense Tears
More Metaphysical
Copal incense has been used for centuries in Mesoamerica. Although it is available in other forms, resin is the most common for rituals and for refreshing. Most often called copal tears resin, these are really chunks of crystallized copal resin. It is believed to open the soul to creativity.
Because it is not self-lighting, you'll need to burn it with self-lighting charcoal made especially for burning resin and powder incense, such as Three Kings Charcoal. Once placed on burning charcoal, it makes a sweet, thick smoke. Some people grind the resin chunks before burning, and others prefer to use the chunks whole.
Because of its soft, warming sweet smoke, is is traditionally burned in protection, cleansing and purification ceremonies. This is the same incense that was burned atop the ancient pyramids of the Aztecs and Mayans.
The word copal is derived from the Nahuatl word copalli, meaning incense. It is believed that the resin was extracted from the tree of life and given to humans as a gift by the Mayan gods.
