Accordingly, Guadalupe's face is framed in a Tehuana headdress, from Oaxaca's traditional costume. Cast of sterling silver, the brooch pendant features a detailed fretwork revealing a star and roses with burnished accents.

Eastern Woodlands Native American Indians have used trade silver brooches to decorate their pow-wow and ceremonial regalia for years and years. Our heart brooch is made in the tradition of brooches made for generations.
This distinctive style is representative of the tribes of the Eastern Woodlands. And, although meant for traditional accompaniment to native shirts, bags and other gear, we think this sweet heart pin appropriate for any special blouse or even for your artwork. The traditional look is very special and will lend itself to your shrines and memory keepers. The pin swings from the back and, as with classic brooches, there is no additional clasp.

April Fool's Day (the first of April) finds its roots in so many different traditions, it's hard to sort them all out. The vast number of these histories seem to center around the Vernal Equinox, once signaling the New Year. As today, many were known to exchange hopeful gifts at the beginning of the new year. So, when the calendar changed to feature January 1 as beginning each year, many protested by making mock gifts and ceremonies. This negative reaction turned into the April Fool's Jokes we have today.
We were delighted to be able to offer you such a wonderful piece for such a fun holiday!

Our larger heart with banner is so popular, that we were delighted to find these mini ones! These wonderful heart banners are just fabulous for presenting a personalized gift. Simply create your own personal message in pencil on the banner and then complete it with a marker or paintbrush. There is a little pin built in on the back of the heart as it was originally designed as a brooch. But we like to use them in making shrines, nichos, etc.
It is really difficult to see the three-dimensional effect of this wonderful piece. It measures about 3 inches from top to bottom and about 2-3/4 inches across. Of course, each is different, as each is hand made one at a time and the style may vary slightly from the one you receive.

This lovely piece is made of Alpaca silver (also known as German silver). It is an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc (and contains little or no true silver). This keeps it from tarnishing or rusting, but it might dull over time and need a polishing. Please consider that it may cause a reaction to those who may be sensitive to nickel.

Emerald Beetle Pin
This elegant but eerie pin is crafted from an actual Beetle (Sternocera Acquisagnata) from the forests of Northern Thailand. The beetles die after reproducing, then are fashioned into pins. Their natural iridescent color will charm and delight you. Beetles have many meanings throughout the world and are often considered good luck as they are by the Thai Hill Tribes, who traditionally wear these pins and other jewelry made of the beetle's wings.
Because these are natural, of course, each will be different. They measure about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inch long and have been set in golden metal to resemble the living luck they represent. Each is gift boxed for presentation and protection.
