Vintage Mona Lisa Metal Pin (New Old Stock)
More Pins
More Vintage
More Leonardo da Vinci
We were lucky to find these unique cabochon pins as new old stock - never used - in a Brooklyn, New York warehouse. They are cleverly made and are in shabby-chic shape. There is some scratching and other wear from handling, but that's about it.
It appears that the cabs are made of metal and that the image has been transferred onto the cabochon either by printing or some other method.
We make a point of not cleaning vintage items - just in case! We wouldn't want to ruin the value.
If you care to do so, you might re-work these into assemblage pieces by removing the cabochon and applying a new image, or, indeed by replacing it with something else. Please be careful if you choose to remove the cabochon - especially if you are bending the prongs.
These were made by a novelty company - not a jewelry company - so please be careful when working with them.
Each measures 1-11/16 high by 1-5/16 wide and has a self-pin on back that has been attached mechanically rather than by adhesive. So, for novelties, these are pretty well made.
These pins are from the 1950s and 1960s and were meant for sale in 5 and 10 cent stores such as Murphy's, Ben Franklin and Woolworths. We love them for embellishment and just for the memories (of the future)! They measure 1-1/2 inch in diameter and make a swell gift package decoration, too!
Several pins are shown for illustration of condition.
Not for children.

Leonardo Da Vinci Backwards Watch
More Watches
More DaVinci
The most versatile genius of the Renaissance, Leonardo da Vinci filled many notebooks with engineering and scientific observations that were often centuries ahead of their time. His inventions include a parachute, an underwater breathing device and even a flying machine. As a painter, Leonardo is best known for the Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. One of his very many talents included writing forward with one and backward with the other at the same time - two different messages!
A masterpiece among watches, this comely timepiece was inspired by Leonardo's notebooks - it tells time backwards. The numbers are backwards. Everything is backwards. Look at in a mirror and it looks like a normal (but beautiful) watch. Each watch features a one year warranty and has a quartz movement.

Vitruvian Man Charm
This famous print, Symmetry of Man or alternatively, Vitruvian Man by Leonardo da Vinci has been professionally matted and transformed into a frameable note card. It will fit any standard 5 by 7 inch frame. The card is blank inside, so you can add your own message. Each comes with a white acid free, beveled edge mat that has been professionally cut. Each card is sealed in a protective sleeve that you remove before sending it in the accompanying envelope.
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci is the archetype of the Renaissance man: he is best known as an artist and inventor, but also shone as a scientist, mathematician, engineer, anatomist, architect, botanist, musician and writer. In fact, in art, he was a portraitist, skilled in illustration, still life and landscapes, as well as sculpture in many media.
This is one of his best known drawings wrought in pen on paper in Florence around 1490. It features the anatomy of a man in symmetry (if symmetry even exists!). This image has been prominent on many items for years, even appearing on the Euro.
Now you have a card that becomes a present, too! Such a striking print as this might cost much more on its own!

Enamel Vitruvian Man Pendant
More Pendants & Necklaces
More Vitruvian Man and other Da Vinci Masterpieces
Vitruvian-Man is probably Leonardo da Vinci's quintessential drawing. Scholars, art historians, scientists and philosophers have interpreted the symbolism in countless ways. This study of man was drawn by the master in the Renaissance around 1492. Leonardo believed the workings of the human body to be an analogy for the workings of the universe. It is also thought by some that Leonardo symbolized the material existence by the square and spiritual existence by the circle. Thus he attempted to depict the correlation between these two aspects of human existence.
The drawing has been made into this lovely pendant, measuring 7/8 inch wide and 1-1/4 inch long. Made of vitreous enamel, each pendant is assembled by hand, so please allow for some variability.
Equally beautiful as jewelry or as an art element in a shrine or assemblage, this unique piece is conservatively priced for such elegant craftsmanship.

Leonardo da Vinci's drawing entitled The Vitruvian Man is one of his most famous. The drawing and it accompanying notes were made in 1492 in one of his journals. The naked male figure is drawn twice - with arms and legs outstretched and inscribed in a circle and square.
The original drawing was based on the treatise of Roman architect Vitruvius, who wrote that in the human body there were many significant measurements and conclusions that could be drawn upon them. For example, the length of a man's palm is 1/10 his height.
Vitruvius' work was studied closely by daVinci, as Leonardo believed in man as cosmografia del minor mondo (cosmography of the microcosm) - that the workings of the human body are an analogy for the workings of the universe.
Our 1-inch charm is a stylized version of the ever-so-famous drawing and is created in antiqued pewter.

Leonardo daVinci Action Figure
More Action Figures & other Dolls
The incomparable Leonardo da Vinci was surely the world's original Renaissance man. Not only a master of painting, he was also a great scientist, linguist, and, most importantly to some - the inspiration for Leonardo DiCaprio’s name.
Leonardo was also able to write forwards and backwards - and, as though this weren't enough - he could write forward with one hand and backward with the other simultaneously - either the same thing - or two different subjects at the same time!
This 5-1/4 inch tall, hard vinyl figure celebrates the man who invented everything from helicopters to steam-powered cannons in the late 1400s. Each figure comes with a paintbrush, an easel, a frame and some of his art and sketches to display. This makes a superb gift for any inventor.

Leonardo on the Human Body
This exceptional volume reproduces more than 1200 of Leonardo da Vinci's anatomical drawings on 215 clearly printed black-and-white plates. The drawings have been arranged in chronological sequence to display Leonardo's development as an anatomist and growth as an artist.
His text, which accompanies the drawings, sometimes, explanatory, sometimes autobiographical and anecdotal, has been translated into English by the distinguished medical professors Drs. O'Malley and Saunders. In their fascinating biographical introduction, the authors evaluate Leonardo's position in the historical development of anatomy and anatomical illustration.
Each plate is is accompanied by explanatory notes, an evaluation of the individual plate and an indication of its relationship to the work as a whole; and a new attempt is made at establishing the dates of the plates on the basis of anatomical content.
Carefully detailed and accurate in their data, beautiful and vibrant in their technique, these drawings remain today - nearly five centuries later - the finest anatomical drawings ever made!
