Old-Time "Exotica" Reproduction Paper Mask
More Masks
From about 1901 (right after the Victorian period) up to about 1910, or even as late as 1918 (after World War I), British society suffered a very rigid system, despite the new philosophies and politics floating about. The want (and need) for more liberal thought and a move for greater social acceptance of all British started despite the seemingly unmovable morés at the time.
The Edwardian Period was also known as the Belle Époque (Beautiful Era), a time for elegant masquerade balls with gorgeous gowns and fun masks such as this, our Exotica. We couldn't tell if this were a man or a woman, or a bit of both, hence we named it Exotica.
The mask arrives flat and is simple to wear with black ribbon on either side for securing your mask. It measures about 10-1/2 inches.

Faces of Your Soul: Rituals in Art, Mask-making, and Guided Imagery with Ancestors, Spirit Guides, and Totem Animals
In Faces of Your Soul, Elise Dirlam Ching and Kaleo Ching combine art and archetypes, meditation and acupressure, guided imagery, journaling, and many different creative processes in a collage of healing knowledge and wisdom.
The authors start by stressing the balance of complementary opposites—left brain/right brain, challenge/comfort, practicality/the sacred—as crucial to beginning the journey. Then through guided imagery, they lead readers through subconscious realms to connect with archetypal sources of inner wisdom. This process frees the creative and healing spirit, connecting explorers with the body's instinctive intelligence, which expresses itself through the creation of art.
Central to this process is a detailed description of mask-making—including how to work with a partner to mold each other's gauze mask—balanced with self-explorations of the inner experience of this event. Poetry, personal stories, photographs, and a gallery of Kaleo Ching's evocative totemic masks expand the reader's experience of this richly resonant journey to self.
This wonderful softbound book measures 8-1/2 by 11 inches and has 260 pages and lots of great illustrations.

Elastic Mask Backs
Masks & Costumes, etc.
This is really hard to find - at least we thought so until now! These black elastics have barbs on either end. Designed to hold on a party hat or a mask, we're sure you'll find many more uses. Each elastic measures 12 inches from barb to bar. To use, created a tiny hole on either side of the mask or hat and feed the barb through the hole. Repeat on the other side. The stretching effect of the elastic will reposition the barb to lay flat - holding the end in place - so much more effective than a knotted end!

Vintage Bat Mask
More Hallowe'en
These really cool rubbery plastic bat masks hail from the mid-1960s when Batman was really popular due to the kitschy Batman television show.
These old-store stock masks are really little rubbery bats with flexible wings. Eye holes in the wings enable you to see. You wear the little bats by hooking the attached rubber bands around your ears. Even the rubber bands are vintage! The masks themselves are really sturdy, but the rubber bands may break. The bands can easily be replaced with new ones - or you can add ties instead.

Fake Puff Cigarettes
Startle your smoking friends when you "light up" one of these! Enjoy the shock on their faces! Don't worry these don't really burn. But, they look real (even with a bit of permanent ash on the end!)
Just blow (that's right, don't inhale!) a little more than slightly and the ashes on the end glow with a bit of red as fake smoke swirls from the end. These are harmless, but we suggest that you not let children play with them.
Perfect for that Humphrey Bogart costume or any other requiring a smoke, you're sure to get some laughs (or groans) from these!

Vintage Hallowe'en Masks
These paper card-stock masks uniquely represent the graphical art of the 40s, 50s and 60s popular in the US. Their vivid colors are almost as vibrant as when they were produced, even after all of these years!
The masks are probably politically incorrect today. And, we certainly do not want to offend anyone!
Such masks were popular styles in the mid 20th Century. Each is brilliantly printed in bright colors and with interesting detail. We believe that these are chromolithographed items, but we cannot be sure
There are perforated tabs on either side to punch out to add a ribbon or elastic for someone to wear these as masks, as intended. However, we think they are just wonderful as framed items or as memorabilia of the past. Many of the masks boast tabs that are still intact, never having been punched out. However, some of the perforated items have been lost through the years.
The eyes are perforated as well. The wearer would punch out the eyes (so s/he could actually see when wearing the mask).
Each of the masks measures about 7-1/2 inches wide (ear to ear) by about 8 to 12 inches high. Of course, there is a notch for the wearer’s nose.
These were a fantastic find! They are old store stock and have never been used. The woman from whom we bought these tells SilverCrow that she sold quite a lot of these some time ago. She couldn’t remember if it was in the 50s or 60s, as she raised children in both decades and dressed even more children for Halloween!
We have sorted out the very damaged masks, and most are in pristine condition. We will ship the ones in the best condition first, so, be sure to order right away - when they're gone - they're gone!
