More Jewelry Components
Our little (just 15mm in diameter) glass cabochons feature a metallic image of the Sacred Heart. The vibrant red of the heart is nicely offset by the black background.
Across the heart is a golden twining, which we imagine to represent the crown of thorns and a golden cross sits atop the cross. These cabochons were reverse glass painted, making them so very special. There is some flaking on the back - as they have aged. We love the patina-ed look!

Silvery Milagro Eye Charm
More Milagros, Medals, Amulets & Talismans
More Charms and Beads
While this is not really a milagro, it resembles one. Double eye milagros generally represent a connection to the popular Santa Lucia, who suffered blindness while being executed. In the end God restored her eyesight.
The single eye might also venerate St Lucy, but more likely, it represents the spirits watching over us. When added to the frame of a picture of a departed one, the eye acts as an angel's eye - watching over the spirit of the beloved ancestor. It may have some connection to the evil eye talismans, but this is not certain.
This little charm measures 5/8 inch wide by about 1/4 inch high without the loop.

Smashed Penny with the Entire Lord's Prayer!
Milagros, Talismans & Amulets
More Pocket Tokens
Coins like these have many names, but our favorite is smashed pennies, aka elongated pennies and pressed pennies. The first elongated penny was created for the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus during 1892-1893. There are some who believe that there were such coins produced earlier, but the experts have singled this celebration as the beginning.
A smashed penny is is made by forcing a penny (or other coin) through two steel rollers. There is an engraving on one of the rollers (sometimes both sides). A crank (mechanical or electronic) forces the coin through the rollers and squeezes it with extreme pressure. This smashes the coin from round to ...you guessed it...elongated. The pressure pushes the engraving into the penny at the same time it is smashing it.
We've been collecting these since we were children, and now our grandchildren collect them, too. We have long been taken by the detail in the Lord's Prayer Smashed Penny. These were made from shiny pre-1983 pennies, so there is a higher copper content than today's pennies.
Because they are smashed in the process of impressing the prayer, they are super thin, yet sturdy. The new oval shape measures about 1-5/16 long and about 13/16 wide. This makes a wonderful keepsake for your wallet or pocket. And, it's a lovely little token to give a friend.

Saint Jude Medal
Saint Jude is the Patron Saint of lost or impossible causes. It is believed that this patronage has been derived from the confusion by many early Christians between Jude and Judas not understanding the difference in the names. No one ever prayed for Jude's help, and devotion to him became something of a lost cause.
Made famous by comedian Danny Thomas, St Jude has come to represent hope and much more than just lost causes. St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, created by Danny Thomas after his prayer was heard, provides treatment for children who suffer from catastrophic medical conditions, without regard to the family's ability to pay.

Mano Poderosa and Powerful Hand Holy Cards
More Information about The Most Powerful Hand
The image of the Most Powerful Hand or Mano Poderosa, has been brought to us from Hispanic influences far back in to the beginnings of Christianity.
The upward-pointing hand has been used as a talisman for centuries, dating back to Ancient Rome. It has generally been used as a charm against enchantment because it possesses secret and kabalistic power within its symbols. In modern times, the most common realization of an upward-pointing human hand is La Mano Ponderosa (The Powerful Hand) found in Roman Catholic symbolism.
Our Mano Poderosa talisman features a multicolor charm as well as scapular images and prayers in English and Spanish as well as a small clothe bag for safe-keeping. Colors and charms vary, so please let us choose one for you.

Mini Double Icon: Jesus & Mary
Sterling Silver St Michael the Archangel Icon
Our little wooden icon features an elegant image of St George Slaying the dragon. It is hand-made with a technique similar to decoupage and measures 2 inches by 1-3/4 inch.
Saint George is highly venerated in both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. He is the patron saint of soldiers, those who work with horses and protectors of all types. He is best know for slaying a dragon to save a princess.
Because of his chivalry (protecting women, fighting evil, having great faith, depending on the might of arms and generosity to the poor), Europeans became quite devoted to Saint George after the 10th century. And, in the 15th century his feast day (Roman - April 23, Orthodox - November 3) was considered as important as Christmas and was just as popular!

Talismanic Seals Set
More Metaphysical Items
The talismans, or seals, included in this set are authentic reproductions from the book which is some times called Moses' Magical Sprit-Art. According to tradition, the designs have many magnificent powers. They were taken from ancient Hebrew Holy Books (including the Talmud and the Kabala) and have been passed down through the ages. Even today many believers carry or use them with faith in their effectiveness to bring results by magical means.
The legend is given, although no claims of supernatural powers are made for the talisman. They are carried in purse or pocket as a secret possession, and usually protected by placing them in a small bag or carrying case, usually made of red fabric, such as flannel.
The set we offer is a complete set of 52 seals in a red velveteen pouch. WE have also included a golden or silvery charm of one of the seals. A printed explanation of each seal is included as well. The seals are printed on vellum-like paper in a deep red ink.
These are wonderful pieces to add to your sacred or magical artwork or shrine. Each seal differs in size and there are many shapes. Most of the papers measure around 2-1/2 by 3-1/4 inches.
Seal charms vary, so please let SilverCrow choose a set for you.

Saint Lucy Medal
More Medals, Amulets and Milagros
Saint Lucy, also known as Santa Lucia, was a rich, young Christian of Greek ancestry. Although Saint Lucy's mother arranged a marriage for her after her father's death, Saint Lucy prayed that she might devote her life to her religious convictions. Her potential bridegroom was pagan, and once he knew of his rejection, arranged that she be punished.
Part of this punishment was to tear out her eyes violently. Because of this terrible fate, St. Lucy has become the patron of those with eye problems, including the blind. After blinding her, her captors attempted to burn her at the stake and the fires were quelled, supposedly by Saint Lucy's devotion. She was later killed, but is said that her eyesight was restored, thus her patronage.

Sterling Silver Faiths of the World Bracelet
Representing the Faiths of the World and the wearer's belief that diversity strengthens our humanity rather than divides us, our wonderful sterling silver bracelet should bring positive energy to anyone who wears it. Let's hope that it also spreads peace through understanding and tolerance.
The links represent world religions by symbol:
SIKH - The Khanda Emblem symbolizes the four pillars of Sikh belief, represented by symbolic weapons. In the center is the double-edged sword (Khanda), representing knowledge of divinity and the creative power of God. Surrounding this is a circular ring (Chakkar), symbolizing the unity of God. Chakkar and Chakra are derived from the same root. And, on either side, crossed kirpans (Piri & Miri), symbolizing spiritual and temporal power in balance.
JUDAISM - The Star of David is the most recognizable modern emblem of the Jewish religion. Legend has it that the image was used by King David of the Bible as his shield. The association with Judaism did not come until the middle ages. In Kabbalistic tradition, the hexagram symbolizes the six directions of space: the divine union of male and female energy, and the four elements.
CHRISTIANITY - The Cross, though generally representative of the Christian religions, has been a religious symbol for thousands of years. Because it was originally thought to be a pagan symbol, it was not the first representation of Christian faith. The most well known cross is the Latin cross, representing the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. When it is pictured with the image of Christ upon it, it is called a crucifix. A true Latin cross, when folded, creates a cube, an ancient symbol of earthly authority.
ISLAM - The Star and Crescent, is recognized as the symbol of the Islamic faith, but is not accepted by all Muslims. This is an ancient symbol, seen as early as 200 BC. There is no mention of this symbol in the Koran.
HINDUISM - The Omkar, or Om Symbol derives from the Sanskrit. Om (ohm) is considered the primordial sound by which the earth was created, symbolizing the unfolding. It symbolizes unfolding, growth and expansion. Omkar represents the Om and its four parts represent the four states of human awareness: the material state (ordinary waking), the state of deep sleep, the dream state and the awakened state (absolute conscience). Many eastern religions celebrate the Om.
BUDDHISM - The Dharma Wheel, also known as the dharmachakra, is Buddhist symbol that originates in the Hindu. The surrounding circle symbolizes the completeness of the Dharma. Its eight spokes represent the eight tenets of Buddhist belief that lead to enlightenment: right faith, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right endeavor, right mindfulness and right meditation. Generally circular symbols represent continuity and eternal rebirth, rather the Dharma Wheel represents the ability to overcome obstacles.
This stunning bracelet is wrought in sterling silver and arrives in a special anti-tarnish pouch.

Golden Saint Simon Charm
More Charms
Also known as Maximon, Hermano San Simon is known both as a saint and as a representation of a pre-Columbian Mayan god of the underworld. He is generally represented in 20th century clothing, with a wide-brimmed hat. He is known to represent male power, balancing a moneybag, holding a flag and holding coins in his open hand.
His feast day is at the beginning of the rainy season in South America, and so he is often associated with fertility. He is thought to bring rain and fertility.
Some even call him the patron saint of gamblers, smokers and drunkards. Because of this, he is still worshiped in many Guatemalan villages with offerings of tobacco, alcohol, Coca-Cola and tropical plants. San Simon is pictured smoking and holding a bottle of liquor, beer or wine.
He is thought to wealth and worldly success to those who venerate him, so he is certainly not a traditional saint!
Our gold-plated charm measures about 1-1/2 inches high (including the loop) and about 3/4 inch wide.

This elegant gold-tone bracelet features 11 images of Mary and her Holy Child. The sepia-toned images lend an antique air to this already lovely metal bracelet. The 11 beads may be cut apart to be used in your own artwork, but we think this bracelet beautiful in itself.

Saint Lazarus' Crutch Charm
Saint Lazarus has long been known as the Patron Saint of the Sick, particularly of those sick with leprosy. He has represented the poor and the sick in literature, both religious and secular.
Our little golden crutch charm represents his suffering, as he was often pictured with a single crutch. It measures about 1-1/4 inch high and about 3/8 inch at its widest. There is no loop, so to use it, you can attach a loop or cord through the top opening of the crutch. This allows it to lie at an angle, the position it is in when walking.

Ganesh (aka, Ganesha) is the Hindu elephant-deity riding a mouse. Ganesh has become one of the most beloved symbols for anything associated with Hinduism. Equally beautiful as jewelry or as an art element in a shrine or assemblage, this unique piece is conservatively priced for such elegant craftsmanship.
Ganesh is very specially revered and is known as an obstacle remover and patron of the arts and science and the deity of intellect and wisdom.
Our brass Pendant measures about 1-1/4 inch high by 5/8 inch wide and 1/2 inch deep. The bail is hidden behind Ganesha's head. The bottom is flat, so it could be used as a mini statue as well.

Sterling Silver Hand Milagro Charm
Just like the traditional milagros made of silvery metal, this lovely hand milagro can represent so many things. It's meaning, as with many milagros is subject to interpretation. Our hands are used for so very many things: to work, to welcome, to hold, to help, to caress. How many feelings they convey when we speak - if we hold them in our laps, flail them high, touch someone, ...
In any case, this lovely sterling silver hand might just be the most appropriate for your next project or to add to your charm bracelet, nicho or memory project.
