The Hacienda Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas was once a very trendy spot. It was built in the early 1950s and was quite popular until its implosion on New Year's Eve 1996. In fact, it is known as "the hotel that wouldn't die" as there was still a substantial portion of the building left the next day!
This wonderful little pinback are quite detailed with the image of the Hacienda's Matador astride a handsome steed and the the Hotel's name below. Each is presented in a little plastic case with a foam base. The pins arrive without the backing clutch. We think these are great additions to any souvenir collection of casino or Las Vegas memorabilia. But, it will also make a unique embellishment for your collage or assemblage artwork.

The Yin Yang is a well known Taoist symbol, representing the balance of opposites in the universe. Without opposites, there is chaos and confusion. When opposites are equally present, there is clam.
There are many traditions regarding the exact definition, however, the philosophical vision without words, is most common - the design of the symbol itself implies calm.
Some traditions see one side as soft, the other hard - even opposites exist here. As some say the yin is soft and others say it is the yang. It has come to represent so many opposites, it almost does not matter which is which.
since nothing in nature is purely one way or purely the other, the symbol includes a small black spot in the white swirl, and a white spot in the black swirl. Yin-Yang is thought by the Taoists to be upset when humans intervene in nature and disrupt the balance.

Peace Button Pin
The message is the same today as it was when the symbol was introduced: PEACE. However, it was originally designed to mean Nuclear Disarmament in England by Gerald Holtom. A conscientious objector himself, he was commissioned to design a logo for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in Britain. The symbol encompasses in a circle the semaphoric representations of N (two flags down on either side - almost as if in despair) and D (one flag upright the other straight down). No matter the origin, it is one of the most widely recognized symbols in the world today.
