The Cottage of Content
The Cottage Of Content is a role-playing card game for five to seventeen (yes, 5 to 17) players that is reproduced from a very rare antique game. Originally published in the 1850s, this lovely game reinforces the timeless notion that good behavior is to be rewarded.
The game consists of 18 illustrated cards colored in a charmingly primitive style and two cards of Morals. Players experience a bit of living history as they assume the roles of nineteen century characters with names like Sabrina Flirt, Harry Boastful, Samuel Suspicious and Eliza Envious. The Faults of these misbehaved or ill-tempered characters are exposed by Felicia Amiable and Peter placid, then remedied with quaint morals such as:
Rudeness offends all.
Jesting makes no friends.
Envy knows no peace.
At the end of the recitation of morals, Felicia and Peter are given the Cottage of Content as a reward fro their excellent behavior.
The game is packaged in a slipcase (measuring 2-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches) that features a reproduction of the antique label from the game's original box. There are 20 lovely cards plus instructions.

The Wedding Game - Circa 1880 Reproduction
This enchanting playing card game is a fine quality reproduction of a splendid set from around 1880, hardly seen for decades! Such a beautifully illustrated parlor game of simpler times is a welcome relief from the overly violent electronic games of today. The gentle games of the past were designed to stimulate the mind and improve memory and math skills.
The Wedding Game was originally published in 1880. This charming card game chronicles a Bride and Groom's trip to the altar. As in any wedding, players pay and receive according to directions, along the way finding bridesmaids, groomsmen, the Parson and a clerk - all the while avoiding the Lawyer, the Bride's Aunt and a rejected suitor.
If the Lawyer is encountered during the game, the wedding is postponed! It seems that very little has changed in the last century or so!
The game comes in a beautiful slipcase box that is embellished with hand-applied iridescent glitter and tied with a satin ribbon bow. The 3-1/2 by 4-3/4 inch cards are produced in a style evocative of pastel lithographs of their original day. There are 24 character cards, charmingly illustrated and 25 pay cards.
Consider this lovely deck as an excellent bridal shower game or wedding table favor! What fun for an anniversary - a pleasant way to reminisce.
