Literary Greats (in Caricature) Paper Dolls
More Paper Dolls
More Poe
More Shakespeare
More Other Famous People
More Alice in Wonderland
This delightful paper doll collection features 35 paper dolls of famous authors, each with costumes depicting characters from their best-known works. The authors are in caricature and some look a little silly. Although we'd rather see these be more realistic, they probably wouldn't be as much fun!
Introducing each author is a quotation from that literary giant. This from Agatha Christie, the first doll in the book:
The impossible could not have happened, therefore the impossible must be possible in spite of appearances.
Ms Christie's costumes include Hercule Poirot, Sir Wilford Robarts and Miss Marple.
Another of our favorites is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, with Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson outfits as well as one of a fairy-believer.
Other literary stars are:
Ayn Rand - The Brothers Grim (Jacob & Wilhelm) - The Brontë Sisters Charles Dickens - Emily Dickenson - Ernest Hemmingway - Fyodor Dostoyevsky Franz Kafka - F. Scott Fitzgerald - Geoffrey Chaucer - George Orwell - H.G. Wells Herman Melville, Jane Austen, Jack London, J.R.R. Tolkein - Jules Verne Lewis Carroll - L. Frank Baum - Leo Tolstoy - Mary Shelley - Mark Twain Nathanial Hawthorne - Oscar Wilde - Rudyard Kipling Robert Louis Stevenson - Tennessee Williams - Virginia Woolfe - William Shakespeare
And of course, our favorite is Edgar Allan Poe, with outfits from The Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Mask of the Red Death and The Raven.

Reflections of Poe Bracelet
More Bracelets
More Ravens & Crows
The master of macabre, Edgar Allan Poe, and his greatest creation, etched into black glass. Featuring the classic black and white photographic portrait of the poet, his raven and verse, this stunning bracelet will charm any fan.
His life was littered with tragedy even from his earliest years. First, the death of his parents, then a downward spiral of debt, alcohol and excess. Then his inconsolable grief over the demise of Virginia Clemm – his wife and first cousin. And eventually and finally, he suffered a miserable end in the gutters of Baltimore.
Poe's legacy was destined to be one shrouded in horror and uncertainty. By capturing the dread of his own, personal demons of death, mourning, and even the afterlife in written word, he continues to effortlessly arrest the imaginations of readers over a hundred years after his most famous works first appeared in published form.
It is not for his madness and debauchery that the designer wishes to remember Poe, but rather to celebrate the man who not only helped to reshape literature, but through his iconic themes and imagery, allowed us to take a closer look at the most forbidden corners of our own psyches.

Absolutely Stunning Raven or Crow Feather Necklace
More Necklaces and Pendants
More Edgar Allen Poe
This spectacular graphic representation of that mythical bird, the Raven - subject of Poe's most celebrated and tragic narrative poem brings to life protection and memory all at once. Ravens and crows are known for their capacity to guard the souls of those who respect them.
Although Poe was supernaturally lamenting the death of a young lover, just imagine how long her memory has been honored through verse!
This wondrous fine English pewter piece features real 3-inch iridescent black feathers rising from an elegant pewter raven's skull. A 1-inch deep amethyst faceted crystal balances the raven as if it were her moon! A tiny skull dangles delicately at the bottom. A curb chain draws it all together, and then caps off to doubled rich black satin ribbons, allowing you to wear this as a choker or to adjust to as long as 28 inches!
Please take care with the feathers, as excessive ruffling will make them uneven.

The urn measures 1-3/4 inch tall by 1-3/8 inch wide and 9/16 inch deep. The cork adds another 1/8 to 1/4 inch to the height.
Although meant to be worn as a pendant, we think this little vessel would be perfect for any assemblage, shrine or collage project you might be considering.

Poe Illustrated: Art by Doré, Dulac, Rackham and Others
More Books
In his brief and troubled life, Edgar Allan Poe (1809-49) was as haunted by tragedy and loss as he was plagued by poverty, illness and alcoholism. Poe's personal misfortunes doubtless influenced the dark romanticism of his work. Obsessed with death, decay and the madness, he created compelling narratives of characters trapped in perverse situations. The profound influence of his stories and poetry extends not only to world literature but also to the visual arts.
This outstanding collection, selected and edited by Jeff A Menges, features scores of memorable moments from Poe's writings recaptured in gripping images of eerie beauty by the author's most acclaimed interpreters.
More than 100 illustrations, reproduced in brilliant color and crisp black-and-white, include hard-to-find images from private collections as well as those from sought-after rare editions. Poe Illustrated features scenes from such popular tales as The Fall of the Hose of User, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Gold-Bug, The Black Cat and The Cask of Amontillado as well as The Bells and other poems. Spanning a fifty-year period, they range from Édouard Manet's 1875 lithographs for a French edition of The Raven to the 1935 illustrations of Arthur Rackham for The Tell-Tale Heart and other stories. Additional contributors include Arthur E Becher, W Heath Robinson, Byam Shaw and Harry Clarke, among others. The editor provides an informative overview, as well as brief introductions to each of the artists and captions for their images.
The authors start by stressing the balance of complementary opposites—left brain/right brain, challenge/comfort, practicality/the sacred—as crucial to beginning the journey. Then through guided imagery, they lead readers through subconscious realms to connect with archetypal sources of inner wisdom. This process frees the creative and healing spirit, connecting explorers with the body's instinctive intelligence, which expresses itself through the creation of art.
This wonderful softbound book measures 8-1/2 by 11 inches and has 81 pages, almost all with illustrations.
