Handmade Lampwork Bunny Bead - Sitting
More Beads
More Bunnies & Rabbits
This sweet little bunny is so cottony white that he challenged our photography skills by blending into the white background or reflecting too much on a white one. Finally, he sat still and we were able to encourage this sweet portrait from him.
Each of these beads are hand made and are just delightful. Of course there is some variation because they are hand made, but they are all quite similar. S/he measures 1-1/4 inch from his bottom to the tips of those cute bunny ears and s/he is about 1/2 inch wide and deep. The stringing hole is behind the ears and goes from head to bottom.

Famed artist Michael Sowa is always exploring the possibilities of anthropomorphizing animals. His delightful illustrations are always a delight and sometimes thought provoking. In this one such illustration, a young rabbit is standing in men's shorts - holding the waistband out and peering down. The title says it all: Tiger - Rabbit. So, this young fellow fancies him self a tiger!

Hand-Made Tin Jackrabbit Ornament
More Ornaments
The jackrabbit is a lively fellow found throughout North and Central America. Known in native legends as the trickster, s/he may well be the inspiration for Kokopelli and the Mad March Hare. The jack rabbit can jump as high as 5 feet from a standing position and has acute hearing because of the characteristic long ears.
The ornament is embossed and hand-cut, then tinted by hand, so each is slightly different than the next. Each ornament measures approximately 3-1/4 inches from tail to front paws and about 2-3/4 inches high..
This odd tin ornament has been created by Mexican artisans in the old tradition and then hand painted or adorned. The tin is embossed and debossed for effect and this helps to make him appear as though s/he is already jumping gracefully.
Colors may vary.

More Bargains
We at SilverCrow are big time fans of anything made with chenille pipe cleaners (aka chenille stems). Grandfathers used to clean their pipes with these and we'd scarf a few to make little ornaments of our won.
These old fashioned bunny ornaments are in distress (oops! we mean they've been distressed) - to look so vintage! Each one measures about 4-inches high, but, because they are bendable - you might choose to pose them in a different positions! Each carries a a little carrot (probably trying to imitate that famous Bugs!)
The bunnies' heads are made of a reproduction scrap that has been cut neatly to resemble the Victorian scraps of old.

Lovely Jenny Rabbit
More Spring & Easter
May we please introduce to you the lovely Jenny Rabbit. In her gingham dress and elegant, but shabby shawl, she is ready for the springtime. Jenny is a primitive style stuffed muslin doll who will gladly complement your Easter décor or look lovely just about anywhere a primitive gal might sit.
She stands a tall 17 inches from toe tip to ear tip and about 4-1/2 inches from shoulder to shoulder. She is flexible and can sit easily - but might need a bit of help if she is expected to stand a long time. She is charming in profile.
Not a toy. Not for children.

Blank Note Cards & Stationery
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was written by the Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dogson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. Published in 1865, the book tells the story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy land populated by all sorts of bizarre and troubled creatures.
The book is fraught with satirical allusions, and is one of the most striking examples of the genre of nonsense literature. The drawings for the book (and the wonderful cards in this set set) are by famed illustrator John Tenniel.
And so it becomes curiouser and curiouser! Each set includes eight die-cut blank note cards. Alice, the Red Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter and, of course the White Rabbit - two of each and four fun sticker sheets for you to create your own greeting card - with traditional sentiments like Happy Birthday and also such Alice-isms as Curiouser and Curiouser and more. Write away!
These would be fantastic for creating invitations to an Alice in Wonderland party, too!

Vintage Embossed Die Cut Chromolithograph Scraps - Animal Wannabes
More Scraps, Dresdens & Die Cuts
From the mid-20th century, super cute scraps feature animals in professions and activities normally reserved for their human friends. There are bears, birds, monkeys and more bowling, juggling, delivering the mail and playing the banjo. Artists, musicians and waiters and more, offer their more humorous side for inclusion in your artworks. We're not sure whether we wannabe the animals or if they wannabe human.
As with many of the scraps and die cuts made in the 20th century, these are children in adult situations. The advent of space exploration in the 1950s and 1960s, led to many products such as these. Rather than intricately die cut motifs, these are nicely expressed vignettes that are die cut into shapes - probably meant for découpage. We're particularly attracted to the colors in this production - there is a special tone that makes the scraps seem older than they even really are!
The scrap relief sheet is approximately 9 inches by 7 inches, ready for you to clip and use in your artwork. And each sheet is lightly embossed to accent. The shapes make these perfect for accenting boxes, pencil cups or other such items.

Plastic Nursery Rhyme Plaque - See Saw Margery Daw
More Vintage Items
This vintage 1969 nursery rhyme wall plaque measures about 8 inches wide by 5-3/4 inches high. There is a sweet picture of a girl and a boy on a teeter-totter made of a log and plank, accompanied by a bunny and some birds. It is made of light blue hard plastic and includes the Margery Daw Nursery Rhyme:
See saw Margery Daw, Jacky shall have a new master; He shall have but a penny a day, Because he can't work any faster.
This is old-store stock, unused and in great condition. The poem and the characters are raised from the plaque and are highlighted with golden accents. These were manufactured by Invicta Plastics and have lots of detailed information on the back regarding Invicta's company and locations. Some of these have the mounting tabs on the back that may or may not still be sticky. They were originally used to mount on the wall in a child's room - and would look great in a shadow box frame for a nostalgic touch.
In researching the meaning of this rhyme, we have found that it probably wasn't meant for children in the first place. It was most likely a worker's rhyme used by men sawing large logs of wood using two-handled saws - to help them keep time. It's origin appears to be in the 18th century and Margery was a poor country name, and Daw meant an untidy person. Working rhymes generally contained references to wages and eventually made their way into children's lives through their working fathers - just as the see-saw did!
