We at SilverCrow are big time fans of anything made with chenille pipe cleaners (aka chenille stems). Grandfathers used to clean their pipes with these and we'd scarf a few to make little ornaments of our won.
These old fashioned bunny ornaments are in distress (oops! we mean they've been distressed) - to look so vintage! Each one measures about 4-inches high, but, because they are bendable - you might choose to pose them in a different positions! Each carries a a little carrot (probably trying to imitate that famous Bugs!)
The bunnies' heads are made of a reproduction scrap that has been cut neatly to resemble the Victorian scraps of old.

Plastic Nursery Rhyme Plaque - Jack & Jill
More Vintage Items
See Saw Margery Daw Plaque
This vintage 1969 nursery rhyme wall plaque measures about 8 inches wide by 5-3/4 inches high. Jill and Jack are running with their pail as a couple of bunnies and a bird look on. It is made of light blue hard plastic and includes the Jack and Jill Nursery Rhyme:
Jack and Jill went up the hill To fetch a pail of water; Jack fell down and broke his crown, And Jill came tumbling after.
This is old-store stock, unused and in great condition. The poem and the characters are raised from the plaque and are highlighted with golden accents. These were manufactured by Invicta Plastics and have lots of detailed information on the back regarding Invicta's company and locations. Some of these have the mounting tabs on the back that may or may not still be sticky. They were originally used to mount on the wall in a child's room - and would look great in a shadow box frame for a nostalgic touch.
There are so many sources of origin claimed for the Jack and Jill rhyme, that it is hard to know which is true. Many nursery rhymes began as satirical poems regarding the politics of the day. Still others were meant tell the stories of history to children, modified to help soften the harsher news.
Some say that Jack and Jill is the story of the beheading of Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette. Others insist that it was modeled after a fairy tale about 2 childhood friends in Norway. And still another associates it with the British monetary unit, gill, and the jackpot that ensued for the country.

Tiny Plastic Bunny with Skis Charm
He's only about 7/9 inch high, but he packs a lot of fun in that little yellow backpack of his! This little charm is a design from the early to mid-20th century and was hand-painted! Made of composition (an earlier plastic), he's as sweet as sweet can be walking along carrying his skis. He is 3D (not flat on the back) and sports an exciting green and red suit with black shoes!

More Notecards
We are absolutely delighted to present this terrific Barbara Schriber Designs notecard. It seems only natural that we'd offer such delightful images that are hand glittered with German glass glitter!
We're not quite sure what trick the chicks and bunnies are doing, but it appears that an elegant little chick girl is a trick bunny rider! The duo is directed by a chick trainer and watched by a little chick holding a glittery egg! The sentiment reads:
Loving Easter Greeting
The glitter accents are in just the perfect spots to highlight the image! Best of all, once the glitter is exposed to air, it may tarnish, which adds to the vintage feel! Of course, each card is accompanied by a matching envelope.
Because this card is accented with glass glitter, please use care when handling the cards, and of course, such products adorned with glass glitter are not suitable for children.

Vintage Embossed Die Cut Chromolithograph Scraps - Animal Wannabes
More Scraps, Dresdens & Die Cuts
From the mid-20th century, super cute scraps feature animals in professions and activities normally reserved for their human friends. There are bears, birds, monkeys and more bowling, juggling, delivering the mail and playing the banjo. Artists, musicians and waiters and more, offer their more humorous side for inclusion in your artworks. We're not sure whether we wannabe the animals or if they wannabe human.
As with many of the scraps and die cuts made in the 20th century, these are children in adult situations. The advent of space exploration in the 1950s and 1960s, led to many products such as these. Rather than intricately die cut motifs, these are nicely expressed vignettes that are die cut into shapes - probably meant for découpage. We're particularly attracted to the colors in this production - there is a special tone that makes the scraps seem older than they even really are!
The scrap relief sheet is approximately 9 inches by 7 inches, ready for you to clip and use in your artwork. And each sheet is lightly embossed to accent. The shapes make these perfect for accenting boxes, pencil cups or other such items.

Plastic Nursery Rhyme Plaque - See Saw Margery Daw
This vintage 1969 nursery rhyme wall plaque measures about 8 inches wide by 5-3/4 inches high. There is a sweet picture of a girl and a boy on a teeter-totter made of a log and plank, accompanied by a bunny and some birds. It is made of light blue hard plastic and includes the Margery Daw Nursery Rhyme:
See saw Margery Daw, Jacky shall have a new master; He shall have but a penny a day, Because he can't work any faster.
In researching the meaning of this rhyme, we have found that it probably wasn't meant for children in the first place. It was most likely a worker's rhyme used by men sawing large logs of wood using two-handled saws - to help them keep time. It's origin appears to be in the 18th century and Margery was a poor country name, and Daw meant an untidy person. Working rhymes generally contained references to wages and eventually made their way into children's lives through their working fathers - just as the see-saw did!
