Vintage German Santa Face Chromolithographed Scrap Picture
When we first found these, we though them to be vintage stickers. We've since discovered that they were single die cuts made to top special Christmas cookies, be they stollen or gingerbread! These would normally be attached with icing (used like glue).
Because these are vintage and we're not sure of their complete provenance, we would suggest that you not use them on food directly.
Each little die cut measures not quite 3 inches high by about 1-5/16 inch wide. It is very lightly embossed.
They are nicely cut and in great shape for their age. we expect that they are from the 1940s or earlier.

These were originally produced by the Paul B Zoecke (PZB) company that originated in the late 1890s. The company stopped producing any products in the 1980s. This batch hails from the late 1930s or early 1940s

This reproduction set of antique scrap is new, but in the tradition of Victorian scraps and die cut ornaments of old. This set features two little children from Victorian times - sweet and shy. The little girl is dressed in pink and her petticoat is showing a bit. We adore the furry kitty that she is carrying. The shy little boy appears to be deciding if he should give her the flowers or not - or, perhaps his sweet bouquet (behind him) is for someone else?!

Vintage Sheet of 32 Mini Angel Die Cut & Embossed Angel Scraps from the 1930s
These sweet little die cuts are quite beautiful. Despite being close to 80 years old, they are vivid and quite detailed. Each set contains 32 wonderfully printed and die cut images of angels. There are 8 different angels as shown. Each sheet offers 4 sets of these 8 angels. These vintage scraps are chromolithographed vividly and embossed expertly. The cutting is superb - you need only do a minor amount of snipping to separate the angels.
These were originally produced by the Paul B Zoecke (PZB) company that originated in the late 1890s. The company stopped producing any products in the 1980s.
These are original old store stock, never used. They are so pretty and their diminutive size makes them perfect for creating tiny feather tree ornaments. Or you might choose to make a frame of them around a photograph of your little angels!
Each angel measures about 3/4 inch wide by 1/2 inch high. The entire sheet measures 3-13/16 inches wide by 2-5/16 inches high

Vintage scraps marked PZB were produced by the Paul Zoecke company of Berlin, Germany. PZB created scrap pictures from 1880 through 1980. We are fortunate enough to have these wonderful old scrap picture sheets that were never used. The are old stock inventory and are over 50 years old. These old sheets are quite collectible and are becoming more and more rare.
These are in superb condition for their age, but please remember that they are old and time is the enemy of paper, no matter how well protected. So, please be careful with them as their connecting ribs may be fragile.
Even though these are collectible, we still like to use them for creating vintage-style ornaments and décor - with vintage parts.
The se lovely angels are sweetly pastel and measure 3 inches high. The blue angel measures about 1 inch wide. The pink angel measures about 1-1/8 inch wide. Each sheet offers you 16 angels in all - 8 of each color.

Vintage Die cut Gummed Santa Head Sticker

We believe these to be Dennison stickers, but we cannot be sure. We've long collected holiday images in die-cuts, scraps, seals and stickers. We've never come across this one before or again. In fact, we've researched it to no avail.
Right on the ball at the end of Santa's cap, it reads:
Made in U.S.A.
We just love the expression on this jolly Saint Nick's face. This is a gummed seal (with water-activated adhesive on the back). It appears to be from the 1950s or 1960s, but it could be earlier.
He measures about 2-1/4 inches high by 1-1/2 inch wide. We've packaged each one in a tiny glassine envelope for safe-keeping to protect the gummed adhesive from sticking to something else. If you choose to use this in your artwork, we suggest that you moisten it with a damp sponge, or even better, use your own glue as we can't be sure of the condition of the original adhesive.

We have long been enchanted by scraps and die cuts - especially the vintage ones. And, of course, many are hard to find - especially those of the Krampus Devil. Known for his connection with Santa Claus, or Saint Nicholas, the Krampus delivered negative rewards to those who made the naughty list.
This set of 2 Krampus devils were created by the now defunct Heller Company, who produced gorgeous pieces in Austria. One of our fellows is screaming and the other, laughing. These are very rare, indeed!
They measure approximately 13/16 inch wide by about 1-1/2 inch high.

Unique in that these scraps are from Sweden, these craft horses are known as Swedish Dala horses -lovely carved horses they have been icons of Swedish folk art since the early 1800s.
We are consistently charmed that so many pieces of folk art around the world are similar to folk art half a world away! We think the little Dala horses resemble Mexican burro piñatas.
Each scrap set features an orange and a blue horse as pictured, with flowers in the background. The two scraps are connected, but can be trimmed apart, if you choose. These have been printed on matte paper and the colors are vibrantly delicious. Scraps like these are quite rare. We believe them to be from the 1930s or 1940s.
The entire piece measures 9-1/4 inches from left to right, and 6-1/8 inches high. The piece arrives folded at the burros' noses as originally created.

Poor kitty is so scared! Now, just what did s/he see? This old-fashioned (yet new) Dresden is two-sided black heavy paper that is highly embossed and expertly die-cut. The little loop at the top will make it easy for you to hang it on your feather tree or to make it into a moving piece. You can easily cut the hanger off and use only the cat.

This fun piece has folding scores to help you help him hide. It also features fold for the two tabs at the bottom in the grass, so that you can stand him up. Our six-sided stars feature a solid medallion in the center with a tiny cross of crowns and filigree embossing. Each star measures 2-3/4 inch from at the widest. The internal medallion is 1-1/16 inch in diameter.

There are two lovely old-fashioned faces of the man himself, Santa Claus. Each one measures around 3 inches high by approximately 1-3/8 inch wide. The detail is quite charming. One of our jolly old fellows wears a little snowman pin in his cap and the other, holly and golden bells.

Although holly is thought to be the Christmas plant, it's roots in household decoration really must be attributed to the Druids. Like so many Christian and Catholic practices, the use for holly at yuletide stems from folklore and traditions of preceding religions.
Holly remains green all winter and its red berries stand out against the snow. For that reason, the Druids associated it with everlasting life and with a fruitful life and fertility. Initially, holly was banned from Christian and Catholic churches. So, the Christians added some additional symbolism, seemingly to "make it work" appropriately for acceptance. The red berries represent the blood that Christ shed, the prickly leaves are reminiscent of the Crown of Thorns. Legend has it that the berries were originally white, until Christ died.
Not only the Druids, but the Celtic clans and the Romans also considered holly to be good luck. Now that the symbolism works for everyone, you'll find people of all beliefs decorating with holly in the winter.
This wonderful scrap sheet features five motifs decked with holly: a lovely wreath with a big red bow, two cherubs with ringing bells, a kitty cat peeking from an envelope that has been loaded with pine and holly branches, another set of bells and a Victorian shoe with a touch of holly.
Each scrap relief sheet is approximately 9 inches by 7 inches. And each sheet is artfully embossed to accent the expert die cutting - so well done, that very little trimming is necessary.

Vintage Golden Dresden Bell Ornaments with Strings - Set of 3
Our charming vintage Dresden bells don't ring - they are made of hard pressed golden paper. Measuring 1-5/8 inch long by 1-3/8 inch wide, hearts feature Cupids arrow running right through them for your Valentine and other projects. Each heart measures 1 inch from top to bottom and 1-7/8 inch from arrow tail to arrow point. These are reversible and are really made of two bells glued together. Each one has a silky twisted cord for hanging on your tree or attaching to a gift package.
We are not certain, but we suspect these to have been created in the mid-20th century.

We have long been enchanted by scraps and die cuts. Our large Krampus Devil -carries his switch for punishment as well as his pitchfork and chain. This mid-20th century die cut is superbly printed and trimmed. The colors, especially of the fire beneath his hooves is beautifully done.

Published in the first half of the 20th century, the Flower Fairies books, created by Cicely Mary Barker, are still beloved world wide. Flower fairies are tiny (none taller than 8 inches) and live in the forest, marshes, gardens and such. These lovely Victorian-style scraps are images of Ms Barkers that will help you create some charming projects.

These are highly embossed double-sided golden Dresden wings just waiting for their angels. Perhaps a bell will ring six times and six angels you'll make. Vintage Embossed Die Cut VINTAGE Scraps - Tulips
The superb die-cutting and vibrant chromolithography in these wonderful scraps will tempt you to treasure the sheet rather than use it in your artwork or craft project. There are six bouquets of tulips (and we have to admit, that tulips are our favorite of all the flowers). Each of the bouquets features a different grouping and different vase. Each of the bouquets, while different, measures about 4 inches tall by approximately 3-1/2 inches wide.
These were produced in Germany about 50 years ago (maybe longer) by the PZB company (Paul Zoecke, Berlin). This wonderful old family company closed in 1980 after running for 180 years. There are fewer and fewer of these wonderful scrap papers to be found.
