Little Metate Stone Grinder
More Little Things & People
Stone grinders are found throughout the world amongst many people. Classically associated with grains and with spices and herbs, the grinder has much in common with a mortar and pestle.
The classic metate is a flat slab of stone, sometimes with carved legs. The top of the slab features a depression, not by design, but from use - as the stone wears away over the years. The metate may seem old fashioned, but it is still used to pulverize grain for tortillas and for chocolate that is used in many Mexican recipes.
Our little replica measures only about 7/8 inch long by 3/4 inch wide and 11/16 inch high.

Small Plastic Saint Jude Statue
Tiny St. Jude Statue
Saint Jude is one of the most popular saints. He is known as the Patron Saint of Lost Causes and Hopeless Situations. People have prayed to St. Jude for help out of the most desperate of situations and insist that such supplication has been a valuable asset in their healing.
This finely detailed, sweet little statute measures just 2-1/2 inches tall and features a young Saint Jude in his traditional pose holding an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and with a Pentecostal flame emanating from his head
Because this is such a small statue, it is wonderful for a tiny altar or nicho.
Although we do not ever advocate small items for children, it has been suggested that such statues as these be taken to church with the children instead of toys.

Xiuhtecuhtli - Lord of Darkness (of the Night)
More Hispanic & Latino Items
We thought these wonderful statues were sold out, but we found several more hiding behind other merchandise!
Xiuhtecuhtli is the oldest of the Aztec gods. He is the caretaker, the personification of light in the darkness, warmth in coldness, and life in death. He is a god of light and fire.
The Aztec century was 52 years. At the end of each century, the Aztecs feared that the gods would discontinue their agreements with mankind. Feasts in their honor were held to appease the gods, particularly Xiuhtecuhtli.
Mexican artist Angel Cerón has created a unique rendering of the famed god that almost appears to be an antiquity. Each statue measures about 9 inches high.

Hand-Made Tin Mano Poderosa (Powerful Hand of God) Ornament
More Ornaments
More Jesus
More Milagros & Such
The Mano Poderosa image has been brought to us from Hispanic influences far back in to the beginnings of Christianity. Known as the Powerful Hand of God in English, the image features all kinds of symbolism - the stigmata, angels, the baby Jesus, saints and the Blessed Mother among others. There are clouds, halos, swords and more.
The artisan has created these one-of-a-kind ornaments by cutting out the tin, painting it and lightly découpaging a holy card featuring La Mano Poderosa.
The backgrounds may differ in color. Our main image is orange, blue and black with green and yellow accents; while the smaller image features blue with red accents. No two are alike, so please let us choose one for you.

Talavera Cross
Talavera pottery came to Mexico from Spain around the 15th century. It has its roots in the Majolica that is made in Spain and still treasured by collectors today. Once the pottery craft came to the New World, Mexican artisans created their own styles reflecting the bright and colorful ways of their culture. The name Talavera is derived from the center of the industry in Spain (part of the Toledo region) called Talavera de la Reina.
Today's talavera pottery is generally associated with Mexico and is still produced in many regions using many of the same techniques and skill and certainly the same cultural patterns and influences that have developed over the centuries since first made in the New World.
The style is recognized by its strong colors and detailed patterns that reflect the colors and designs throughout Mexico.
Our lovely scalloped cross was made in the Castillo region of Mexico and features a vibrant flower forming the arms ant top of the cross. It measures 8-1/2 inches high by 6-3/4 inches wide.
Of course each of these hand-made crosses is different due to the hand preparation and painting. The general design is the same as the one pictured.

Hand-Painted Retablo on a Hand cut Recycled Tin Cross
More Retablos & Shrines
Each one of our beautiful retablo crosses has been hand cut of recycled tin and then hand painted with images of saints, the Virgin Mary or Jesus as well as with supplicants asking for help and blessings from the heavens.
The subjects and saints differ on each of the crosses, but they all resemble the one in the illustration. Colors are antiqued blues, greens and browns and will age over time. Expect the metal to age gracefully over time. In fact, we love that part.
Traditionally retablos are created to thank, entreat or venerate saints, angels, Jesus or Mary. Many are hung in the backs of churches (sometimes with milagros added). Once the supplicant felt that prayers had been answered, the retablo was then removed to the home.
Retablos are often painted by artists as not all the faithful have talent enough to render their prayers visually. Most retablo art is somewhat primitive and was once considered outsider art.
With help from Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and their contemporaries, retablo art has become quite collectable in its own right. Seeking to preserve Mexican and other Latin American traditions, Kahlo and Rivera began collecting these wonderful spiritual treasures in the last century.
The traditional manner for hanging such retablos is with with a single simple nail hammered through the top of the tin right into the wall. Because it is made of tin rather than paper, it will stand the test of time even in this manner.
The cross measures 13 inches high by 9-1/2 inches wide.

Retablo Santo Daniel of Padua
Saint Daniel of Padua was martyred in 168 AD. His works were forgotten until almost 10 centuries later when he became the beloved patron of prisoners and those who have lost their way. He is also known to protect soldiers and their spouses who await their soldiers' return.
Created by traditional Filipino artisans, this primitive style devotional figure has been crafted of wood and resin. Historically, santeros (those who carve religious images) create statues of holy figures such as Jesus, Mary and the saints with a harmonious blend of European Christian form, Asian styling and Filipino primitive art. Our Santo Daniel measures 2-1/4 inches wide by 4-3/4 inches high.

Triple Microscope Slide Mailer (aka, Mini Shrine Base) - Package of 5
More Collage & Assemblage
More Mailers, Envelopes & Such
What a great find! Of course, lots of artists have been using these for some time, but we still love them! The original purpose for these is to hold three 1 by 3 inch glass or plastic microscope slides securely for mailing. Created from chipboard, the mailer opens like a book and inside are three recessed wells to hold the slides.
The rounded indentation at the top of each well is a finger notch to make it simpler to place and remove each slide. Of course, you can do just about anything you want with these - stamp them, paint them, collage or découpage them. Create a little shrine or use it as a special frame (with microscope glass to cover the indentation.
The chipboard is a bit over 1/2 inch thick, so it is nice and sturdy. When closed, the mailer measures 4-3/8 inch by 4-5/8 inches. And, you can actually mail a little shrine to a friend (after securing it so it doesn't open) because each double mailer conforms to US Postal Regulations regarding minimum size for First Class Mail!

Epiphany Blessing Set
Plastic Mary Bottle of Lourdes Water
River Jordan Holy Water
More Incense
With origins in the third century in Egypt, the Epiphany is also known as the twelfth night of Christmas. Its celebration predates the celebration of Christmas itself.
There are many customs surrounding Epiphany and one of our favorites is the home blessing. For years, someone would inscribe what seemed to be a secret message atop my parents' door frame in chalk - both front and back doors. We later found it to be the Epiphany House Blessing. My parents are gone now and just last night, I discovered that our dear friend, Jan, was the mystery blessing giver.
The inscription is the year surrounding the letters CMB and, for 2010, would be inscribed as such:
20+C+M+B+10
The inscription offers a blessing to all who enter the house in the year indicated. The central letters have two meanings:
* Caspar, Melchior, Balthasar (the 3 Kings)
* Christus Mansionem Benedicat (Christ Bless this Home)
The crosses between the numbers and letters represent the protection of Jesus and the holiness of the Magi. It is important that the writing is in chalk as it is a product of clay, recalling the human nature of Jesus as he became man.
This wonderful set from Germany features the Gifts of the Magi and more:
* a golden incense plate * 24 incense cones scented with frankincense and myrrh
* chalk for the inscription
We have added some extras:
* Holy Water from the River Jordan in the Holy Land (to bless the chalk)
* an explanation of the tradition and custom
* the prayers to accompany the inscription
What a wonderful host/ess gift for the Holiday Season!

Little Bottle of Holy Water from the River Jordan
There are holy water fonts at the entrances and exits of Catholic churches worldwide. It is believed that holy water is a means to spiritual wealth. It is a sacramental that will relieve those blessed with it of venial sin. Because of this blessing, many Catholics keep holy water with them in their homes to help guard the soul during disasters.
Holy water from the Jordan River is believed to be extra special because, not only does it come from the Holy Land, but Jesus was baptized with water from the Jordan.
The bottle measures about 1-7/8 inches high.

Single Microscope Slide Mailer (aka, Mini Shrine Base) - Package of 5
More Envelopes & Such
Double Slide Mailer
What a great find! Of course, lots of artists have been using these for some time, but we still love them! The original purpose for these is to hold a single 1 by 3 inch glass or plastic microscope slide securely for mailing. Created from chipboard, the mailer opens like a book and inside is a recessed well to hold the slide.
The rounded indentation at the top of the well is a finger notch to make it simpler to place and remove the slide. Of course, you can do just about anything you want with these - stamp them, paint them, collage or découpage them. Create a little shrine or use it as a special frame (with microscope glass to cover the indentation.
The chipboard is a bit over 1/2 inch thick, so it is nice and sturdy. When closed, the mailer measures 1-1/2 inch by 3-3/4 inches. And, you can actually mail a little shrine to a friend (after securing it so it doesn't open) because each double mailer conforms to US Postal Regulations regarding minimum size for First Class Mail!

Small Our Lady of Guadalupe Wooden Santo
Our primitive wooden hand-carved santo offers tribute to the Patron of the Americas, Our Lady of Guadalupe. This item is hand carved in Central America by traditional artisans who use the time-honored traditions and skills that have been handed down to them for generations.
Our Santo features the much-loved Blessed Virgin with a halo above her head.
Such rustic pieces as these are created specifically for a small home altar or nicho. Each Santo is made individually, so please allow for the variation that only true artistic craftsmanship has to offer. You'll know that you have a unique piece of folk art! Our Lady measures about 6 inches high and 1-1/2 inch wide.
Colors of Our Lady's gown may vary. Two statues shown for variation.

Mini Hand-Painted Reproduction Retablo
Hand-painted on recycled, rusted tin sheet, each of these lovely reproduction retablos features a supplicant praying in request or thanks for a special personal miracle. Each retablo is hand-painted and different from the next. There are men and women and different saints, as well as different stories hand lettered below the original painting. Expect the metal to age gracefully over time.
You might consider framing your retablo in a simple wooden frame (without glass is best!) or shadowbox wooden nichos. We like to hang them in the traditional manner with a single simple nail hammered through the top of the tin right into the wall. Because it is made of tin rather than paper, your nicho will easily stand on an easel as well.
Each of these mini retablos measures 3 by 4 inches approximately and already has a hole at the top for hanging. Some feature the painting 4 inches high by 3 inches wide and others are the opposite - 4 inches wide by 3 inches long.
Every single one is wonderful. We have a nice selection which currently includes Our Lady of Guadalupe, St Michael the Archangel and Our Lady of Grace. We will try to honor your request the best we can. So, if you have a preference for a special saint, we will do our best to honor it. We don't think you'll be disappointed with any one of these wonderful paintings.
Several retablos are shown for illustration.

Hand Painted Statue of San Simon
San Simon is also known as Maximon. He is not recognized by the Catholic Church as a saint. Nevertheless, statues of him have become quite popular.
Our little plastic statue measures just 3 inches high and features San Simon with his money, cigarettes and liquor, just like the life-sized statues found in Central and South America.
San Simon's origins appear to be in Guatemala, where he is found on many folk charms, and is named Maximon (pronounced Mash´- eee - mon). This name is derived from a Mayan deity, so his origins are in folk religion as a combination of the Catholic as well as the Indian.
He is always dressed in a black suit with a red necktie and a large-brimmed hat and is usually sitting in a chair with a cigarette and an alcoholic drink. He also balances a bag of money or coins on his lap or in his hands and holds the staff of a flag or pennant.
Sometimes he is associated with the underworld and sexual prowess. But, as a Mayan deity, he is primarily a bringer of rain and fertility. Because of the items that are depicted with him, he is sometimes associated as the patron saint of gamblers and drunkards. And he is thought to bring worldly wealth to those who pray to him.

Small Resin Santisima Muerte Statue in BLACK with Amulet Charms
More Shrines & Shrine Supplies Santisima Muerte Medal
This little (measuring only 3 inches high) resin statue of La Santisima Muerte is more that you see at first. Herbs amulets and special charms are sealed in clear resin at the bottom of the statue (see the image on the right).
La Santisima Muerte's (the Death Saint) roots are in the cult of an Indian goddess whom the Aztecs called Mictlancihuatl meaning the “Lady of Death”. She is closely associated with the Day of the Dead and is frowned upon by the Catholic Church, although she is believed by many to be an incarnation of the Blessed Mother, in much the same way as the Virgin of Guadalupe.
La Santisima Muerte is often depicted as a female Grim Reaper. There are three figures that are used in this cult - a white one, a black one, and a red one. The white one is for cures and for luck. The black one is for protection and vengeance, and the most commonly used one is red - for love spells, for which she is most famously successful.
Some versions of this folk saint have her holding a scythe, like the grim reaper, while others have her holding a set scales. With these scales, she weighs the good and evil of your life. If the good you have done in your life outweighs the bad, Santisma Muerte takes you in one direction, and if the bad outweighs the good, she takes you in the other.
Two statues shown for illustration only.

Mini Icon of Saint George, Patron saint of Soldiers & Protectors
Mini Double Icon: Jesus & Mary
Sterling Silver St Michael the Archangel Icon
Our little wooden icon features an elegant image of St George Slaying the dragon. It is hand-made with a technique similar to découpage, but with a golden foil image and measures 2 inches by 1-3/4 inch.
Saint George is highly venerated in both the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches. He is the patron saint of soldiers, those who work with horses and protectors of all types. He is best know for slaying a dragon to save a princess.
Because of his chivalry (protecting women, fighting evil, having great faith, depending on the might of arms and generosity to the poor), Europeans became quite devoted to Saint George after the 10th century. And, in the 15th century his feast day (Roman - April 23, Orthodox - November 3) was considered as important as Christmas and was just as popular!

Mini Dream Catcher
More Native American Indian Items
More Metaphysical
Dreams have always held many meanings us all, and in particular to Native American Indians. A very old Ojibwa tradition is to hang a dream catcher in each family's lodge. Both good and bad dreams float in the night air. A hanging dream catcher moves catches dreams as they float by.
Sweet dreams know the way to their dreamers and slip through the hole in the center of the swaying dream catcher, then slide down so softly that often the dreamer below doesn't even realize that s/he is dreaming.
Bad dreams are not as wise. They do not know their way to their dreamers, so they become entangled in the dream catcher's web, much like spiders' prey. These nightmares perish with the first light of the dawn.
Most traditional dream catchers are much larger than ours, at 1-1/2” to 2”. Wear one as a necklace just add a strand to protect your daydreams. Certainly, one would make a delightful embellishment to a western-themed project. Or, add one to a card as an extra gift.
These are hand-made, so each is unique. All are earth-tone. Please let us choose one for you.
These dream catchers are imported. They are not Native American Indian produced, a Native American Indian product or the product of a particular Native American Indian, Native American Indian Tribe or Native American Indian Arts and Crafts Organization.

New Mini Icon with Jesus and Mary
More Icons, Milagros & Amulets
Icons of Jesus Christ often picture the image of Christ Pantocrator, meaning Christ, Ruler of All. It is one of the first images of Christ painted by devoted early Christians and is still the central figure of icons of Eastern Orthodox Church.
Christ is usually pictured holding the New Testament of the Bible in his left and and is making the familiar gesture of teaching and blessing with his right.
Our little wooden icon features one image of Mary with the baby Jesus as well as Christ Pantocrator. It is hand-made, with the traditional sensibility of Byzantine art. It measures 2-1/8 inches by 3-1/2 inches when open. The hinge allows it to close for portability and for display.
The images of Jesus and Mary vary slightly as does the finishing as each of these are made by hand. Please let SilverCrow choose one for you.

Perfect for a warm day in church, young and old alike can create a comforting breeze with this old-fashioned plastic filigree fan. Widow's Mite - From the Time of Jesus
More Vintage
More Coins & Tokens
This is a genuine bronze coin minted in the Holy Land over 2,000 years ago, during the reign of Alexander Jannaeus. What makes this coin of great historical and religious importance is its two references in the Bible, in the books of both Mark and Luke, which relate Jesus' observations of a poor widow's exceptional charity. This coin is identical to the ones she would have had. Coins such as this have been known to collectors for hundreds of years as "Widow's Mites".
The two symbols found on the coin are an anchor within a circle, representing a diadem and an 8-pointed star. They are derived from earlier Greek coin designs that were used in the area. When these coins were originally issued, they were very crudely struck - most examples show odd shapes and off-center partial images. They were the lowest value coins of the period.
Each coin arrives in a small plastic folio, measuring 3-1/2 inches square, with the coin featured in the center. Every coin is different, but each one measures around 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
Even without the religious significance, the coin is a great collectible and arrives with the story of The Widow's Mite, along with a Biblical reference and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Hand-Painted Retablo on Recycled Tin: The Angel Prays (in Purple)
More Angel Retablos & Other Angelic Items
Our sweet Angel Retablo was painted by traditional artisans in Mexico - on recycled, rusted tin sheet. She is almost 9 inches by 12-1/4 inches. Each retablo is hand-painted, so each will differ slightly. Expect the metal to age gracefully over time. In fact, we love that part. We have a similar angel in our bedroom to watch over us and every year she becomes more ours with the aged patina.
This particular retablo features an angel in golden and purple robes praying with her wings spread elegantly behind her. The tone of the piece is purple and blue and will accent a child's room nicely. Retablos such as this make wonderful gifts as giving a Guardian Angel, if only a painting, tells your friend how much s/he means to you.
You might consider framing your retablo in a simple wooden frame (without glass is best!) or shadowbox wooden nichos. We like to hang them in the traditional manner with a single simple nail hammered through the top of the tin right into the wall. Because it is made of tin rather than paper, your retablo will easily stand on an easel as well.

Mini Triptych Byzantine Icon with Mary & Angels
More Milagros, Amulets & Icons
Icons are associated with the Byzantine rite churches. This lovely handmade triptych (three panel) wooden icon has been hand-carved on the back and individual icons have been découpaged to the front. The images feature Mary in the center with Archangels on either side.
The angel panels are attached by hinges allowing them to close up so that only the wood is seen from the outside. This style was originally created centuries ago for the persecuted who believed in the angels, saints, Mary and Jesus, to be able to hide their images from the persecutors.
The images are highlighted with metallic golden paper, and, in some cases, gold leaf. The entire piece measures 2 inches high by 3 wide inches when open. The hinges allow it to close for portability and for display. When closed, it measures 2 by 2 inches.
The images of Mary usually include Jesus, but a few feature Our Lady alone. Usually one of the angels is St Michael the Archangel, some feature Gabriel or Raphael.
Because these are handmade, each is different from the next, so please let us choose one for you.

Tiny Bible Key Chain

More Key Chains
While we have not turned nor red every single page of this sweet little Bible, it seems that all, or at least most, of the Old Testament is really inside its diminutive covers. Not including the key chain itself, the little holy book measures about 1-3/4 inch high by 1-1/4 inch wide and barely 3/8 inch thick. There is a nice little self strap attached to the plastic cover. This holds the book closed when not in use.
Amazingly enough, the print inside is extremely clear, although we needed a pair of magnifying glasses and a pretty strong magnifying glass to read the contents.
You can remove the key chain and just keep the little Bible, if you prefer.

Talismanic Seals Set
More Milagros, Amulets & Talismans
More Metaphysical Items
The talismans, or seals, included in this set are authentic reproductions from the book which is some times called Moses' Magical Sprit-Art. According to tradition, the designs have many magnificent powers. They were taken from ancient Hebrew Holy Books (including the Talmud and the Kabala) and have been passed down through the ages. Even today many believers carry or use them with faith in their effectiveness to bring results by magical means.
The legend is given, although no claims of supernatural powers are made for the talisman. They are carried in purse or pocket as a secret possession, and usually protected by placing them in a small bag or carrying case, usually made of red fabric, such as flannel.
The set we offer is a complete set of 52 seals in a colorful velveteen pouch. WE have also included a golden or silvery charm of one of the seals. A printed explanation of each seal is included as well. The seals are printed on vellum-like paper in a deep red ink.
These are wonderful pieces to add to your sacred or magical artwork or shrine. Each seal differs in size and there are many shapes. Most of the papers measure around 2-1/2 by 3-1/4 inches.
Seal charms vary, so please let SilverCrow choose a set for you.

Small Our Lady of Czestochowa Stickers
Enamel Czestochowa Pendant
Originating in the 15 century, the Black Madonna is most often associated with the portrait found in Czestochowa, Poland. Some say that the extraordinary power of the Black Madonna is a strength that is not expressed in portraits of the lighter-skinned Mary, who is most often associated with purity and obedience. While the Madonna is still the Mother of Jesus, the diverse representations are not only images of her likeness, but symbolic of her spirit as well. Others suggest that there is a closer connection between the Czestochowa and the archetypal Earth Mother of many cultures, who intercedes for fertility and transcends both life and death.
This sheet of 18 small round stickers - each the same - is accented with metallic highlights. Each sticker measures 1 inch in diameter and would make an excellent addition to a shrine or nicho.

There is a primitive glaze applied for the firing which makes these absolutely stunning in their simplicity and old-world look.

Handmade Mini Tin Heart with Blank Banner
Our larger heart with banner is so popular, that we were delighted to find these mini ones! These wonderful heart banners are just fabulous for presenting a personalized gift. Simply create your own personal message in pencil on the banner and then complete it with a marker or paintbrush. There is a little pin built in on the back of the heart as it was originally designed as a brooch. But we like to use them in making shrines, nichos, etc.
It is really difficult to see the three-dimensional effect of this wonderful piece. It measures about 3 inches from top to bottom and about 2-3/4 inches across. Of course, each is different, as each is hand made one at a time and the style may vary slightly from the one you receive.

Saint Francis with Crow Bulto Nicho Retablo
Animal and nature lovers have long had a sincere connection to Saint Francis of Assisi, and he has become one of the most popular saints of all time. Although his home was in Italy, the Franciscan Friars brought their love for him to the New World. Many missions in Mexico and the southwest United States were created by the Franciscans.
We commissioned this lovely nicho and Santo in much the same way that the original settlers did - unless they were talented enough to make retablos or Santos themselves. The original versions of such religious artwork were often made for small chapels and the settlers' homes and created by itinerant artists.
Each of these is handmade of recycled wood - Mexican rejas (fruit crates) and then hand painted. The entire piece measures just about 15 inches high. Each is handmade, so please allow for some variation.

Retablo Cross of Lamentation
After Christ's death on the cross, the cross itself came to be venerated as one of the most important Christian symbols. Alejandro Chávez shows an empty cross, graced with a portrait of Jesus. Ladders reach to beams where ofrendas (offerings) have been placed. Figures in traditional Andean dress kneel below the cross, their eyes lifted in devout prayer.
Known as a retablo, this traditional diorama is housed in a colorful chest crafted of wood and painted. Chávez carefully models each figure from ceramic plaster and paints them by hand; the retablo receives an antique finish. So, please allow for slight variation.
The Cross of Lamentation resembles the Curanderos Cross so often seen in Mexico.

Mini Saint Jude Statue
Saint Jude is the Patron Saint of lost or impossible causes. It is believed that this patronage has been derived from the confusion by many early Christians between Jude and Judas not understanding the difference in the names. No one ever prayed for Jude's help, and devotion to him became something of a lost cause.
Made famous by comedian Danny Thomas, St Jude has come to represent hope and much more than just lost causes. St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, created by Danny Thomas after his prayer was heard, provides treatment for children who suffer from catastrophic medical conditions, without regard to the family's ability to pay.
This tiny statue is a symbol of the spirit of the saint who has given so much hope to so many. Made of resin with a metallic silver finish, the statuette measures about 1 inch tall.

Of course this ink is not really made of dragon's blood. In the ancient tradition of writing out magical spells, petitions, prayers and wishes, the strongest entreaties were written in blood. Dragon's Blood Ink is made of Dragon's Blood Resin, from the red sap of the Dragon Palm Tree.
Over the centuries since Medieval times, scented red inks were gradually substituted for the original inks. Our 1 ounce bottle of Dragon's Blood Ink is still made from the Dragon Palm resin. Traditionally it used for talismans and petitions involving power, protection, courage and spirituality. The same resin is used in other forms for natural healing remedies, as well.

Sixpence Coin - for Luck and Good Wishes
Long associated with a bride's good fortune, the sixpence is a coin of the British Empire. It was introduced in 1551 to represent 6 pennies. The last of the sixpence coins was produced in 1967.
Superstition was widespread in Medieval times. Almost every part of life was controlled by evil spirits, that needed to be assuaged. Talismans and tokens, including lucky coins, were the most popular of the amulets in use. Because they especially felt the presence of the spirits during ceremonies, many of these traditions have continued today.
Traditionally a gift of silver was made from the groom to the bride, and a sixpence (then totally made of silver), came to represent this token - and was usually included as a part of the bride's dowry - now making the gift from bride to groom!
The sixpence is now a symbol of good luck for any occasion, but especially for a wedding:
Something old Something new Something borrowed Something blue And a sixpence in her shoe
Start a new tradition in your family and use the same coin for your daughter's (or daughter-in-law's) slipper as you wore in your wedding!
Our sixpence are authentic and arrive in a decorative bag for a special presentation. Most are from the reign of Elizabeth II (1953-1967, when the last was made). Of course, each coin is different, so please let us choose one for you.

Art Postcard - Mano Poderosa
The striking image on this wonderful post card finds its roots in the Roman Catholic traditions. In English, the image is known as the Powerful Hand, and in Spanish, as la Mano Poderosa. It will make the perfect background for a shrine or ofrenda.
The central image is the right hand of God with fingers and thumb stretched upright. The palm, with its stigmata, faces us.
Atop the four fingers are St Joachim and St Anne, the parents of the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph and the Blessed Mother Mary herself.
Christ, as a child, is illustrated on the thumb. The most common representation of the Powerful Hand includes small winged cherub-heads (putti) floating in the clouds above the hand. Four young female angels surround the hand (usual two on the left and two on the right). These angels are holding the tools of the crucifixion of Christ: One of the angels holds a bowl to capture Jesus' blood. The next holds a spear, a vinegar soaked-sponge, a hammer and nails. The third, uniquely gazing at the ground, holds the cross. And the fourth holds the notorious crown of thorns.
Most popular in Mexico, but celebrated in all the countries practicing the Roman Catholic Religion, the Mano Poderosa symbolizes the all-powerful nature of God, and is probably based in pagan symbolism as well - as they prophesized the coming of an omnipotent Christ.

Turkish Evil Eye Bead
Evil Eye Charms also Available
Legend has it that the evil eye of jealousy from friend or foe can trouble you, or, indeed, cause you harm! Now we can't promise that SilverCrow's handmade Blue Evil Eye Beads can ward off such trouble, but given the right circumstances, perhaps the representation will help the wearer or owner. Such talismans turn jealous eyes away and grant protection from such harm. Each eye is hand made and is different from the next.
These flattened blue circular beads measure about 14mm by 8.5mm and are created by lampwork. The eye can be seen on both sides! The hole measures between 1.8 and 2.8mm, so there are lots of possibilities with these beads each bead.
Because they are hand-made, the beads will vary in size, shape, color, hole size and hole size. We think the variability adds to their charm.
Seven beads are shown for illustration.

Akin to Santisima Muerte, the representation of death need not carry a negative meaning. Because the bead is flat on the bottom, most of these can be used as tiny statues. Of course, each bead is hand-made, and therefore, unique. Please let SilverCrow choose one for you.

Kabbalistic Sephirothic tree Charm
More Talismans, Religious Charms and the Like
As one of the Four Sephirothic Trees, this symbolism of this silvery charm discloses the organization of the hierarchy controlling the destiny of creation.
