Antiqued Silver Irish Blessing Möbius Pendant
More Pendants & Necklaces
The Irish have long been known for their lovely toasts and blessings - wishing well to many and ill will to few. This lovely silvery pendant features one of those wonderful blessings:
May you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, laughter to cheer you, those you love near you and all your heart might desire.
Created in the form of a mobius strip, the blessing only seems to repeat itself. The mobius band is quite the curious shape. There are all kinds of wonderful characteristics within it. While it dates back to ancient times, the actual mathematical properties were not defined until the mid 19th century.
This curious circle has the distinct feature of having a surface with only one side and only one boundary and it has no orientation. If you were to draw a line, or (as in our pendant) write a verse, down the middle - the line (or verse) will meet back at the seam but on what appears to be the other side. Because the "sidedness" is eliminated, a line twice the circumference will be made in this manner.
The pendant measures about 1-3/4 in diameter. The thickness varies around the bends.

Reversible Claddagh Token
More Pocket Tokens
More St Patrick's Day & Other Irish Things
More Friendship
Cast in pewter, this simple pocket charm features an elegantly cast claddagh image - the heart, hands and crown, encircled by a lovely Celtic knot design.
On the reverse, it reads:
Friendship, Loyalty, Love
The symbol of the claddagh is well over 300 year old and was originally developed as a ring. There are so very many symbols held within the image itself. And, when worn as a ring, it has many more.
This pocket token features the heart - for love, the hands for friendship and, the crown represents loyalty. Originally, the heart was a stone and with a hand on either side of the heart, it represented the vast oceans that may come between loved ones. Of course, the Celtic circle around the the perimeter of each side of the token represents endless nature or eternity.
What a lovely gift for someone whom you hold dear to your heart. The token measures about 1-1/4 inch in diameter

The Claddagh replaces the Crucifix on this lovely gold-plated bracelet. The prayer beads are pearlized emerald (of course) green glass. The Claddagh features a green stone as well. The bracelet should fit most wrists and is adjustable due to its design.

Holy Cards - Saint Patrick
St Patrick Medal
More Holy Cards
More Saint Patrick & St Patrick's Day
Many saints have their days of patronage, but March 17 is probably one of the best known and most celebrated - for St Patrick. Born around 387 in Scotland, he was captured and sent as a slave to Ireland. He became devout and converted much of Ireland. During the Middle Ages, Ireland was known as the Land of the Saints, mainly due to the teachings of Saint Patrick.
He is patron of the Irish, Ireland, New York and those who suffer from ophidiophobia - the fear of snakes.
Each set includes five standard-sized prayer cards, all the same. On the back of each card is an Irish blessing:
May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields and, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His Hand.

Celtic Design Coloring Book
More Coloring Books
More Celtic, Irish & St Patrick's Day
The designs in Celtic illuminated manuscripts represent a distinctive fusion of native Irish, Germanic and Near Eastern motifs. Graphic artist Ed Sibbett has brilliantly captured the intricacy and beauty of this original art tradition in 37 drawings based on illustrations in the Book of Durrow, the Gospels of St. Willibrord and the illustrious Book of Kells.
Among the motifs are the characteristic Celtic interlacings, geometric animal combinations and decorative initials, plus powerful ornaments and symbolic abstractions of animals and people. A portrait of St. Matthew appears as a center spread, not backed up, that may be taken out and framed. Captions identify the source of each picture and explain the iconography.
The publisher's note at the beginning of the book allows the student of Celtic art a great explanation of origins and meanings.
This Paperbound coloring book measures 8-1/4 by 11 inches and arrives with a free mini box of crayons.

Smashed Penny - My Lucky Penny!
My Lucky Penny Necklace
More Smashed Pennies and other Pocket Tokens
Coins like these have many names, but our favorite is smashed pennies, aka elongated pennies and pressed pennies. The first elongated penny was created for the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus during 1892-1893. There are some who believe that there were such coins produced earlier, but the experts have singled this celebration as the beginning.
A smashed penny is is made by forcing a penny (or other coin) through two steel rollers. There is an engraving on one of the rollers (sometimes both sides). A crank (mechanical or electronic) forces the coin through the rollers and squeezes it with extreme pressure. This smashes the coin from round to ...you guessed it...elongated. The pressure pushes the engraving into the penny at the same time it is smashing it.
We've been collecting these since we were children, and now our grandchildren collect them, too. Made from shiny pre-1983 pennies, there is a higher copper content than if created with today's pennies.
This special little penny will hopefully bring you luck (of course, we cannot promise that it will, but we'll hope for you, too!) The penny features a dotted border, an upturned horseshoe and two 4-leaf clovers along with the sentiment:
My Lucky Penny
Because they are smashed in the process of impressing the message, these souvenir pennies are super thin, yet sturdy. The new oval shape measures about 1-5/16 long and about 13/16 wide. This makes a wonderful keepsake for your wallet or pocket. And, it's a lovely little token to give to your beloved.

Saint Patrick Medal
Saint Patrick was actually born on the British mainland and then kidnapped and shipped to Ireland as a slave, working in the mountains as a shepherd. Saint Patrick is often associated with driving the snakes from Ireland. While it is true that there are no snakes in Ireland, this may be more mythical, representing his effort in converting the Irish.

The Wonder Of It All (Hand-Pressed Token)
More Amulets
At a carnival in the 1950s, I made one of these wonderful tokens on a very special mechanical device. After thinking for what seemed to be ages of just the right sentiment, I impressed my name. 40 years later, my dear friend, Juliana and I found ourselves high atop a New York City landmark, and behold another of the very special machines!
This time, at Juliana's urging, we each made one just like the one in the illustration above, with the sentiment:
THE WONDER OF IT ALL
These machines are no longer manufactured, but you can find them few and far between at old-time amusement parks and other special places.
We found a wonderful new buddy, Tom, who has a machine of his own and he was kind enough to make these one at a time so we could offer them to SilverCrow's customers. He not only made them one at a time - and each letter had to be selected and then individually impressed manually on to each token!
If you can behold each day with wonder and treasure each of your friends as I do Juliana, then you'll need one of these for each of you. Add a simple ball chain key chain or necklace to compliment that old-fashioned feeling.
Each silvery token measures about 1-1/4 inch in diameter and features a four-leaf clover in the center, surrounded by the words:
GOOD LUCK
