Statue of Liberty & Times Square, New York City Reversible Charm
More Charms
More New Year
For lovers of New York City and retro images, this is the charm for you! A stylized version of the world's most exciting city is the backdrop for the Statue of Liberty on one side. On the other is a vintage view of the exciting center of New Year's Eve in the United States: Times Square!
We love the vintage look of the images and how perfectly they come across in the charm.
The charm measures 3/4 inch, the loop adds an additional 1/8 inch, and about 3/8 inch from front to back.
It is a nice size for a bracelet or necklace and is light enough to make earrings, too!
Each of these elegant 2-sided charms is set in a bezel of white metal plated with antiqued sterling silver plate. An actual photograph is encapsulated in a washable, dry-cleanable, non-yellowing and non-scratch resin - creating a glowing almost 3-D effect.

Hand-Made Patriot Blue Goose Feather Sprig from Sandy Elliott's Christmas Bazaar
More Ornament Components
These are sprigs made of real goose feathers - the same way they were made in the early days of holiday decorating! Each is handmade from dyed goose feathers. The feathers are applied individually in the same manner as in 19th century Germany.
These were designed and created for Sandy Elliott, who pioneered in recreating vintage Victorian Christmas items for display and for crafting. Alas, her business no longer exists, but we were fortunate enough to be able to obtain some of these wonderful sprigs before she closed. We recently rediscovered them and are proud to offer them to you. These are still made by other manufacturers, but we were quite taken by these.
Each sprig is just about 2 inches long and 1-1/4 inch wide with a 1-1/2 inch stem and is finished with a berry tip. This Patriot Blue sprig sports a bright red berry at the tip.
Now you can reproduce all of those wonderful Victorian Ornaments. Let Santa carry one as a miniature tree. Combine some reproduction Christmas Die Cuts with some stretched Krausbouillion and one of these sprigs, sprinkle on some mica (a little glue helps!) and voilà - a Victorian ornament.

Vintage Die Cut Dennison Gummed Seals - Small American Flags - Package of 5
More Vintage Stickers
More Ephemera
The packages containing these wonderful old Dennison gummed stickers were beyond repair, so we removed the stickers and packaged them safely in groups of 5 seals.
July 3, 1959 was the last day that the USA flag featured 48 stars as do the flags on these seals. However, the packaging makes us estimate that these were produced in the late 1940s or early 1950s.
Each seal measures 5/8 inch by 1/2 inch and are in superb condition.
Most of the gummed adhesive appears to be in fine condition. If you choose to use this in your artwork, we suggest that you moisten it with a damp sponge, or even better, use your own glue just to be safe.

More Reproductions
This report was originally published in 1868 on the progress of the Pacific Union Rail Road, west from Omaha, Nebraska. It lists everything from the officers of the company through the costs, the benefits and the connecting roads. There are some really great timely illustrations and the chapter titles feature beautiful calligraphy of the times.
On the back, it features an advertisement for the purchase of their mortgage bonds at $1,000 each - imagine! That would be approximately $15,800 each in 2010 dollars!
There are clear and concise descriptions of the difficulties encountered during the construction and their are accounts from many sources from company men to reporters.
Though its aim was to raise mortgage bonds for the company, it reflects the vitality and drive typical of the American spirit, where anything is possible.
This facsimile reproduction is in paperback form, printed clearly on its 48 pages. The book measures 8-1/4 inches by 5-7/8 inches

Rare Vintage Gettysburg Photo Stamps - Complete Set of 2 Folders
More Vintage Labels & Stickers
Manufactured by the Photo-Stamp Co. Saginaw, W.S., Mich., this wonderful and rare set of stickers is complete! Each booklet features 2 sets of 12 scenes - 24 stamps total.
These are gummed seals, meant to be moistened with water to activate the adhesive. As we are not certain of the actual adhesive, please moisten with a damp sponge or cloth (instead of licking the stamps). You might even choose to use an additional paper adhesive in lieu of the original.
Each booklet measures 5 by 2 inches. The stamps inside measure not quite 1-1/2 inch by 1 inch each.
These are original, never used. The only wear we have noticed is some bending on the cover for someone to look at the stamps inside. This does not detract from their value. Although we do not know the exact date that these were produced, they appear to be from the late 1930s or early 1940s.

Each great vintage glass bottle has been silk screened:
Fruit Shake
in all its finery. These were made by the Stetz Bottling Works from Charleroi, Pennsylvania - lots of years ago. Each Bottle features pictures of happy fruits - lemons (or limes), oranges, grapes, cherries, pineapples and strawberries, and reads:
SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FRUIT DRINK Fruit Shake BEVERAGES Made with REAL FRUIT JUICES
LICENSED BY FRUIT SHAKE CO., CINCINNATI, O. BOTTLED BY STETZ BOTTLING WORKS CHARLEROI, PA.
CONTENTS 10 FLUID OZ CONTAINS CARBONATED WATER, SUGAR SYRUP, FRUIT JUICE, FLAVORS ARTIFICIAL COLOR AND LESS THAN 1/10 OF 1% BENZOATE OF SODA
These bottles are definitely old-style with extra design features and show some wear and tear as they were returnable bottles. We've not completely cleaned them as we don't like to harm the value. They have been dusted off, but you might decide to clean them further.
The bottom of the bottle has been impressed with serial numbers and other information.
These were found in the Old Mission Bottling Company in Donora, PA (once an ice house). Donora is the home of SilverCrow Creations. The Donora Volunteers bought the building for storage. We thought this a great way to support the DVFC and their valiant efforts.
Annie's Dad was a firefighter for over 60 years here in Donora - and he never wanted to throw anything away. We thought this a great way to remember him and honor our local heroes.
Each bottle measures 9-1/2 inches high by 2-1/4 inches (the bottom diameter).
We will donate the entire profit from every purchase to the Donora Volunteer Fire Company. Only the difference in shipping it will be deducted from the price!
What a great vase for just a few wild flowers, or a nice display bottle. Or, buy one of our old-fashioned laundry sprinklers and use this bottle when you're ironing.

Old-Time Reproduction Paper Mask: George Washington
More USA More Masks More Famous People
Living in Pennsylvania, as we do here at SilverCrow, we are quite familiar with signs on buildings reading,
GEORGE WASHINGTON SLEPT HERE
This always makes us laugh. If George Washington slept everywhere these signs are, then he'd never had time to fight in the Revolutionary War - let alone, serve as the first President of the United States! But he was our first president; his presidency spanned from April 30, 1789 through March 4, 1797.
This mask measures 10-3/4 inches across and 6-3/4 inches high. It arrives flat and is simple to wear with black ribbon on either side for securing your mask.

Vintage Lenticular Kitchen Aid with Metric to USA Conversions
More Lenticulars
More Specialty Tools
We've always enjoyed lenticular (winky, blinky, flicker) images - especially the vintage ones.
This really neat Vari-Vue lenticular features a conversion chart to help folks in the United States convert metric recipes to USA measurements and to help the rest of the world convert to the USA measurements. Of course, when this was created, there were other countries that were not metric as well.
Each measurement is converted to its metric (or in the case of temperature, it's Celsius) equivalent and vice-versa. This is accomplished as each is shown separately as you move the card and the angle of the flicker is changed back and forth. We had difficulty photographing both angles, so you'll just have to trust us on this one!
Although this card is not officially marked Vari-Vue on the back, it is represented in the 1970s Vari-Vue files.
The card is approximately the size of a business card or credit card: 3-1/2 inches by 2 inches.

Vintage New York World's Fair 1964-1965 Daily Pass Ticket
How much fun my Mom and I had at the New York World's Fair. My Dad didn't like it much because it was so big and he was so protective. But did he ever love seeing all the emergency personnel when I suffered from heat stroke - the one and only time I fainted in my lifetime!
We were there for an entire week and I remember most of it! But, I don't remember the ticket!
This authentic ticket is unused and is a daily pass. It reads:
NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR 1964 - 1965 CORPORATION
Daily Pass GOOD FOR ONE ADMISSION ON DATE STAMPED BELOW (there is no date stamped)
On the left, under the illustration of the Unisphere, it reads:
UNISPHERE presented by USS United States Steel

On the right it reads:
The privileges extended to the holder of this Pass shall at all times be subject to the rules and regulations of the New York World's Fair 1964-1965 Corporation.
Each ticket has been stamped with a number at the bottom to identify the particular pass. It reads:
NOT TRANSFERABLE - VALID AT PASS GATES ONLY
Two tickets are shown for illustration of front and back. The back design is a series of tiny Unispheres.

More USA & American History
When the Civil War started, there were two types of money in circulation in the North: The largest part was "hard" money - silver and gold coins of the United States Government; the rest was paper money issued by prominent state banks. As the war progressed, more and more hard money disappeared as people began to hoard coins.
In 1862, the U. S. Government began issuing "Greenbacks" (as Federal currency became called) to supplement the states' paper money. Greenbacks were soon in widespread use, amounting to more than half of the currency in circulation. Fractional currency ("paper coin") also became prominently used.
The Federal government passed strict banking laws in 1863: these laws along with heavy taxes soon caused most of the paper money of the private banks to disappear. The laws did not become effective in the South until after the Civil War was over in 1865
The reproductions in this set include antiqued parchment reproductions of original banknotes - they even feel old! This set includes:
$1 Pennsylvania 1865, Bank of Montgomery County
$1 Illinois 1861, Bank of Quincy
$1.50 Washington, D.C., 1862, Farmers & Merchants Bank
$1 New York 1862, Merchants Bank
$2 Maine 1861, Sanford Bank
$1 Nebraska 1863, Bank of De Soto
This is a wonderful way to study history and to preserve the knowledge of one of the most horrible periods in American history.

Vintage Tab-Style Pin Back Button from the 1960 USA Presidential Campaign - KENNEDY
More Pinback Buttons
Tab-style buttons like this were all the rage when John F Kennedy was running for the office of the President of the United States. These little unused buttons were passed out as freebies for Kennedy supporters during the campaign.
Made of metal (probably steel), it has been coated in white and then emblazoned with the name KENNEDY in dark blue. The pin measures 1 inch wide and about 7/8 inch high when unused. To wear the pin, fold the metal at the top of the name piece and press the back tab into the back of your lapel. There's a little bit of a sharp point to make it catch on the fabric.
These are unused stock that has been stored since the election back in 1960. What a treasure for the collector.

How much fun are these!? We've tried to learn to roll Fimo & other polymer clay into sticks or rolls and we always end up with marbleized clay - a fancy way to say we couldn't come up with a picture. With these, we don't have to worry. The picture has already been rolled into the sticks. So, all you do slice and bake. Don't worry, the instructions are included.
This amazingly detailed roll of polymer clay features the American flag. We've not really counted all the stars, but it looks close enough for a charm or bead!
You can slice them to any depth - and can even make the diameter smaller or larger (instructions for this technique included, too). To make a bead or charm, just make a hole before you bake.
Rolls measure 50mm long by 15mm in diameter (about 5/8 inch). So you can make a bunch of beads, components or charms from just one roll!

The Hacienda Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas was once a very trendy spot. It was built in the early 1950s and was quite popular until its implosion on New Year's Eve 1996. In fact, it is known as "the hotel that wouldn't die" as there was still a substantial portion of the building left the next day!
This wonderful little pinback are quite detailed with the image of the Hacienda's Matador astride a handsome steed and the the Hotel's name below. Each is presented in a little plastic case with a foam base. The pins arrive without the backing clutch. Art Postcard - Celebration, 1945
More Peace
This is not the famous photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt on V-J Day (August 14, 1945) in New York City. But, it might well have been. Much of the pose is the same, only the background is different. It may have been taken by Eisenstaedt himself as one of a series, or it might have been a photo by a passer-by taking the same shot from a slightly different spot. In any case, we're not sure if the subtle difference is as important as the messages of the day: Victory, The War is Over, Peace.
There are so many reasons to use such a postcard - a save-the-date for a military wedding, a valentine, a message of peace, a memory of the year, the day, the generation.

Vintage 1939 New York World's Fair Cabochon
What a find! This little plastic cabochon (12mm in diameter) features golden orange lettering and captures a stylized image of the 700-fott high Trylon, the Perisphere (180 feet in diameter) and the Helicline (950 foot ramp).
The theme of the fair was The World of Tomorrow. Right outside this interesting building was the fair's main attraction - Democracity, a utopian city of the future. Fairgoers viewed Democracity from above on a moving sidewalk, under movies displayed on the sides of the sphere. This was all so very modern at the time. And, we guess that we're living in that world today.
The domed cabochon appears almost like a glass paperweight as the image appears to be projected from the bottom with a clear domed top.
This is truly a rare find and we only have a few of them.

The most celebrated society portraitist of his day, American painter John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) spent much of his life in Great Britain and continental Europe. His study of European art undoubtedly helped him develop a virtuoso ability to handle paint, based on the loaded-brush style of such European masters as Hals, Manet and Velázquez.
Today, he is renowned for the sensual richness of his brushwork, inventive composition and the refinement and flattery of his portraits. All these qualities are evident in the sixteen beautiful portraits reproduced here as pressure-sensitive stickers. Included are Miss Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth, Doctor Pozzi at Home, Lady Agnew, Teresa Gosse and a dozen other striking portrayals.

Reproduction Parchment - Emancipation Proclamation
The American Emancipation Proclamation consists of two executive orders that were issued by then President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. The first one was issued on September 22, 1862. It declared all slaves free that were in any of the Confederate States of America that were not in Union control by January 1, 1863. The second order was issued on January 1, 1863 (100 days later) and named the states where it applied.
The issuance of these orders was amidst much controversy at that time. Slavery was an emotional issue from every angle. The Proclamation itself is widely associated with the freedom declared all Americans in the Declaration of Independence. It has come to represent much, much more than the original document outlined.

The Constitution of the United States of America
In 1787, Americans given the right to practice the religion of choice; given the right to say whatever without persecution. In 1787, it was written that house and property were secure from unreasonable search and seizure and that each an every one was given the right to a public trial.
Fifty-five men sat in a sweltering hot room as they fought and argued for all Americans. They created the document that gave rights to all citizens of the United States of America.
The Constitution of The United States of America, inscribed and illustrated by the master calligrapher Sam Fink, brings to life the issues underlying the triumphs of this abiding document. Originally published in pen and ink in 1987, Sam has, at the request of Welcome Books, gone back to the original black-and-white art and painted it entirely, creating a full-color masterpiece.
Each amendment, each article, each word so thoughtfully placed in the Constitution has been given Sam’s profound touch. With a powerful intelligence and a wonderful sense of humor, he has provided us with an entry point, allowing us to read this essential document better, more clearly.
The Constitution of The United States of America is the document ach American must read again and again. There is no more important document in our country. It is the document we must have an intimate knowledge of. It is the document that we must never forget. In 1787, Americans were entrusted with a living document. Have we kept it safe? To begin, we must read it. This, Sam, in his direct and unadorned way, respectful and loving, helps us do.

Indian Head & Buffalo Nickel Buttons
Made from genuine American copper Indian head cents from yesteryear, you'll just love these buttons for clothing, book closures, bracelet and necklace clasps and more. These are made from real copper pennies and have a shank on the reverse to allow for attaching to you final project.
Of course each of these is different as they are authentic pennies that have been circulated for commerce, so the wear on each will be different and dates on each vary. Because these coins are no longer minted (they were only produced between 1859 and 1909), they will make any project ever the more special.

Natural Quahog half-Shells (Wampum)
More Items of the Sea
Most often associated with Rhode Island, the quahog bi-valve clam is used for food as well as to make jewelry. At one time, wampum beads (fashioned from the purplish-cream inside of the shell) were used in trade between the settlers and the natives in North America.
These elegant shells are beautiful as is, giving a special touch to any shell collection. But they also shine as display dishes for pearls and jewelry, smaller shells and beads.
Native American Indian wampum was colored both purple and off-white, but the largest association is with the purple shells. All of our half-shells have some purple and the exterior is left rough, as found in nature.
As far as we know, the quahog shells offered to you by SilverCrow are the bi-product of someone's dinner. The hand-dug clams were eaten, and, rather than waste the shells, we have purchased the most elegant ones.
