Books like these are now a bit smaller and found at the check-out lanes at the grocery. We're not sure where this book was first sold, but we are sure that it's quite interesting - and, believe it or not, still informative. Some of the older techniques are quite useful today - especially the "setting your hair" portion, which has some clever tricks to add body to lifeless locks.
The back reads:
It is a dream to think that you could always have a good coiffure. Well, not, it's a reality, since you can use curling irons, blow combs postiches and wigs. Also it is not difficult for you to learn the technique of setting the hair and the art of the comb-up. Then you will always look impeccable, as if you have just come out of the hairdresser's, thanks to...
FLASH WORLD LIBRARY FOR MODERN LIVING
Book F39F in the library, Hairdressing at Home from Shampoo to Comb-Up, was published in 1970, so we're not guaranteeing any the techniques that are offered, but it is like any other self-help book - it's up tot he reader to decide.
This 4 inch by 4-1/2 inch by 1/4 softbound book is in pretty good condition for its age. Some of the binding adhesive is loose and the original 50¢ price has been altered to .25. These are old, unsold store stock that we found in Cleveland, Ohio.
There are some interesting illustrations and references to other books from the Flash World Library. With over 150 pages of advice, and tons of illustrations typical to the 1960s and 1970s, we're sure you'll enjoy this.
Some of the chapters are:
Make a Check-Up of Your Hair and Avoid Damage Make Sure You Know How to Choose Shampoo, Conditioner, Lacquer Your Own Coiffure The Right Accessories Cheating a Little with Wigs & Hairpieces & Tricks Thinking About Others
Books from this era of this type were expected to be tossed out after use, so they are few and far between, especially in this fine condition!

Reversible Hand-Made Pendant - Lipstick Fixes Everything - With a Mirror
More Necklaces & Pendants
My Mother wore very, very little make-up. But the one thing she always wore was bright red lipstick - so lovely on her. I just couldn't pull it off - just couldn't get it on with out getting it all over me and my clothes (yes, that's a hint that I'm a bit sloppy!) This fun pendant is perfect for a touch up at the table, in the car (only if you're a passenger) or anywhere you need one.
One side of the pendant is a mirror for just that! The other side reads:
Lipstick fixes everything!
We're showing two pendants so that you might see the front and back. The pendant measures just about 1-1/4 inch long by 5/8 inch wide. The hanging loop adds an additional 1/8 inch. We're including a jump ring as well so it will work with any necklace.
The pendant itself is made of mirror, glass and metal, so please be careful with it. Clean it with a soft cloth and please don't immerse it.

More Postcards
More Rabbits
More Cats of All Kinds
Famed artist Michael Sowa is always exploring the possibilities of anthropomorphizing animals. His delightful illustrations are always a delight and sometimes thought provoking. In this one such illustration, a young rabbit is standing in men's shorts - holding the waistband out and peering down. The title says it all: Tiger - Rabbit. So, this young fellow fancies him self a tiger!

Now just how many people would justify this lovely glittery ornament for someone on their shopping lists?! Just about everyone, we're guessing! Made of tin and then glittered profusely in white, the ornament is held by a curved wire going on top - making it equally cute as a sign on a doorknob or wall.
It measures about 3-3/4 inches and would be a perfect addition to a bow atop a gift package.

Day of the Dead Woman Doing Her Own Hair
What a special day at the hairdressers these lovely ladies are having! This neat diorama measures about 5 inches wide by 3-1/4 inches high and 2-3/4 inches deep. You might be better able to tell the story of the ladies in the salon, but we suspect they are speaking of the men in their lives, whilst they all are smoking (not the hairdresser, as that might be dangerous!). A long mirror reflects in the background. The front of the diorama reads:
"Salón de Belleza" (Beauty Salon)
All of our Day of the Dead figures and diorama boxes are made by traditional artisans and are hand sculpted and painted by traditional Mexican artisans. Each is a bit different (and colors may vary) as they are all handmade! The ladies' positions may vary slightly as well. Please let SilverCrow choose one for you!
