We could hardly believe how wonderful each and every one of these amazing Catrina beads are! Each one is different. Measuring only 1-1/2 inches tall by 3/4 inch wide, you'll be amazed with the detail in their faces, dresses and more. Even the back of the beads are gorgeous!
The stringing hole goes from top to bottom and measures just under 3mm, so it should accommodate many beading techniques. But, even better yet, she can stand up, too!

Genuine Quahog Shell
Just the word wampum conjures magical thoughts of long ago. Made from the shell of the quahog clam, wampum was used in trading and ornamentation by the Native Americans and early European traders and settlers in the Americas. The inside of the shells feature gorgeous purple and ivory or white stripings and solids. The purple stripes are indications of the growth of the shell.
Beads made from the purple shell are called suckauhock and were worth twice as much as the ivory or white beads, called wompampeage. We find it quite interesting that the species name for the quahog is the Latin mercinaria mercinaria, which is the root of the word mercenary (one who acts or works for merely reward or money).
The Narragansett Tribes in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic areas were the purveyors of the quahog shells and the beads and other adornments made from them.
We are proud to offer these special tube beads made in the traditional manner by Native Americans and non-Native Americans alike. The beads measure approximately 10mm long by 4mm in diameter and have slim stringing hole that works well with traditional and modern stringing materials.

Such gorgeous butterflies - and just the perfect beads for the Days of the Dead! What a lovely addition to a shrine or ofrenda these would make.
The gorgeous monarch butterflies that summer up north return to Mexico for the winter. They enjoy the protection of the oyamel fir trees. Anyone would welcome the lovely butterflies just for their beauty, but the local residents believe that the butterflies bear the spirits of their beloved ancestors, which are honored during Los Dias de los Muertos.
The stringing hole goes from top to bottom and measures just under 3mm, so it should accommodate many beading techniques. The beads measure 1 inch from top to bottom and 1-1/8 inch from wing tip to wing tip.
No two are painted the same and wing color differs, as does the decoration. Each little butterfly has a flower in her hair as well!

Mini High Fire Ceramic Hands
So very much detail is evident in this little set of hand beads. Measuring just a bit over 1/2 inch long by 1/4 inch wide and about 1/8 inch thick, these little hands are high fire ceramic - in a natural off-white finish with brown highlights, giving them an unglazed appearance. Hand-Carved Devil Ojime Bead

These hand-carved boxwood Diablo beads, are inspired by Antique Japanese Ojime - the sliding bead on the cord of the Inro Box. Each bead is hand-carved by a contemporary Chinese Master-Carver, who takes up to four hours to make just one. This fellow measures just about one inch.

Hand-Carved Turquoise Skull Bead
Each small (less than half-inch) turquoise skull bead is hand carved into a skull shape. Turquoise is such a soft stone, that it is not easily carved - it will crumble. Now we can't promise that SilverCrow's handmade Blue Evil Eye Beads can ward off such trouble, but given the right circumstances, perhaps the representation will help the wearer or owner. Such talismans turn jealous eyes away and grant protection from such harm. Each eye is hand made and is different from the next.
These flattened blue circular beads measure about 14mm by 8.5mm and are created by lampwork. The eye can be seen on both sides! The hole measures between 1.8 and 2.8mm, so there are lots of possibilities with these beads each bead.
Because they are hand-made, the beads will vary in size, shape, color, hole size and hole size. We think the variability adds to their charm.
