A 7-1/2 by 11-1/2 inch booklet opens up to reveal Dickens' Victorian neighborhood. The story of A Christmas Carol has been abridged. And within it, the numbers for each window or door are listed - so that you can follow along the story and open the appropriate window which represents the incidents. What a great way to introduce youngsters to great literature!
Start a new tradition by reading this each year. Be sure that you open the last one on Christmas Day itself!

Old-fashioned crinkle wire, just like the tinsel used on antique European holiday ornaments. Use it as is or stretch it out and use it in its crinkly form. Wrap it around your project, bunch it up it up, just play with it. You might even want to use it as a curly tinsel garland for a feather tree!
SilverCrow offers our olive Krausbouillion in generous 1/2-ounce packages. Although silver Krausbouillion is the traditional color used in most older European ornaments, we think that you'll be able to fashion some wonderful newer ornaments with this fun olivine crinkle wire, too!
The original Krausbouillion is made in Germany and Austria. Ours is made by a modernized process that plates copper wire, so it is less expensive. It's quite beautiful and lends old world elegance to any project.

Hand-Crafted Panoramic Advent Calendar of Cathedral Place
The first known Advent Calendar was produced by hand around 1851 in Germany. Mainly a Protestant tradition, chalk-lines were ticked off as the days grew closer to Christmas. The first Advent Calendars didn't have windows to open. These were added early in the 20th century.
This lovely reprint of a vintage 1947 calendar is as elegant as the original. There is a traditional Christmas market scene that folds out in front of the Cathedral, making the entire scene three dimensional. The Advent windows open in both sections. Once opened, it measures 8-1/2 inches high by 17 inches wide.
Place your Cathedral Place in front of a light source for the windows to illuminate, enhancing the old-world charm of this hand- glittered specialty.
Young and old alike will marvel at the simple pleasure of opening each window, anticipation building as nearer the date you arrive! This calendar has been hand-glittered in the traditional manner.

Old-fashioned spun cotton mushrooms have graced Christmas trees, corsages and other items for decades. These lovely vintage amanita mushrooms were created of spun cotton back in the mid-20th century and are in wonderful condition. These old store stock beauties measure about 3/4 inch from the bottom of the stem to the top of the cap.
The brown caps are hand stained to look real. They are are highly lacquered and are dotted with little white spots - just like the real mushrooms! The stems are wire wrapped in green paper.
These pretty mushrooms might really be toadstools, not to be eaten in the wild - and, our spun cotton version should not be eaten either! It is rumored that Santa's reindeer pranced around in a flying frenzy after eating these little beauties, allowing them to help Santa travel throughout the world and deliver presents.
Amanita mushrooms are considered good luck in many cultures, especially in Germany. You'll often see them pictured with gnomes, elves and fairies in children's literature.

Rare Vintage Tinfoil Tinsel from US Zone Germany

These fantastic lametta hails from US Zone Germany from the 1940s or 1950s. The packages are intact, but show their age. The icicles themselves are in fine condition and can be used for your holiday décor, or of cores in your artwork.

After World War II, Germany was divided into Four Zones. The Soviet Zone later became East Germany. And the three other zones (US, British and French) combined to become West Germany. Immediately after the war, however, the zones were managed, or occupied by the different nations. During this time, German manufacturers were banned from exporting goods to the United States and some other countries.
American authorities permitted the sale of toys and holiday decorations, as long as they were marked:
Made in US Zone - Germany
'The controlled districts and the manufacturers within were regulated during 1946 and 1947. Even though the regulation was lifted in 1947, the same tooling for the manufacture was used, so some items produced in the early 1950s may bear the same markings.
US Zone items are not as well known as those made in Occupied Japan, but they are of the same ilk and are highly treasured when found.

Valentine Cuties Dresden Ornament
This wonderful heavy-weight red Dresden base is just what you need to create old-fashioned paper ornaments for Valentine's Day, Christmas or any other occasion. Add a little scrap picture with a dab of glue to the center (or even a Victorian-style sticker), maybe a few pieces of angel hair or krausbouillion and you'll create a brand new heirloom!
The base of the ornament measures about 3-1/4 inches in diameter (from one point to the opposite). The loop on top is for hanging and adds about 1/4 inch more. This striking Dresden is metallic red on both sides and is weighty enough to be the base for a complex design.
The embossing on these reliefs is superb. These are made in the same fashion as they have been for many, many decades! Some trimming is necessary, just as it was for the originals.

Tiny Plastic Bunny with Skis Charm
He's only about 7/9 inch high, but he packs a lot of fun in that little yellow backpack of his! This little charm is a design from the early to mid-20th century and was hand-painted! Made of composition (an earlier plastic), he's as sweet as sweet can be walking along carrying his skis. He is 3D (not flat on the back) and sports an exciting green and red suit with black shoes!
These sweet little charms are created by a small family run company in Germany. Skilled artisans, using old-world techniques and plenty of time, have been creating these miniatures for over 70 years. The exquisite quality of these miniatures comes directly from the workmanship of the molds, tools and especially from the artisans who create them.

These wonderful old Santas are about 9/16 inch in diameter. The wreath circles that surround each of the faces of Father Christmas are reminiscent of chenille roping. Of course, you can trim closer to Santa's face if you like.
These vintage scraps are embossed to accent the images. This piece is well trimmed with expert die cutting - so well done, that very little trimming is necessary. The entire piece measures about 4-5/8 inches by 1-3/8 inch.

These wonderful aluminum star ornaments hail from World War II. They were actually sent to the soldiers in the trenches! These are original store stock and are quite modern looking despite being over 60 years old!
The star is made of aluminum with a glass center - the glass centers are on both sides of the star. We like the convex side, but the opposite side seams to reflect light better.
Each star measures about 6 cm in diameter and has a tiny hanging loop at the top. These are original, unused old store stock, so they are in wonderful condition.
We will try our best to honor your requests for center glass color, but we cannot promise that we'll have your choice. So please let us choose one for you. The close-up shows several of the variations.

We are so very delighted to offer this wondrous old golden garland! It was made in Germany in the early 20th century and is a sight to behold! The 1-inch wide tinsel is made of real metal and attached to a cotton string through the center. The string is wrapped with a very thin wire, which makes it easy to model the garland. This is wonderful for making vintage style holiday ornaments for for using on a feather tree.

Vintage Chenille Santa Package Tie-On
Chenille pipe cleaners have been used for crafting for ages! We were lucky to find these vintage Santa Claus Package Tie-Ons - Each with a little cap and coat made of velvety paper and accented with chenille pipe cleaners - even for his beard! The little lack belt is made of shiny paper as well.
Use him to decorate your old fashioned holiday tree, or add him to a friend's holiday package. From tip of cap to bottom of coat, he measures about 2-1/2 inches The tie-one chenille stem adds additional length, and, because it originates under his coat, it can be twisted so he can stand up on your tree or package.
These are vintage items and have been used, so they show some fading and wear, but how much more special that makes them!

Our rare tinsel stars are from Germany and were made around Nuremburg before World War II. Each star is made of tinsel that is just a bit crinkled for fullness. This crinkle also creates the most beautiful shimmer when holiday lights reflect. These are old store stock and are in superb condition.
Each 6 cm ornament is packaged in a protective plastic box and may need a little fluffing for fullness. Or, you might want to flatten one and add a vintage die cut scrap for a special ornament. There is a self hanger for your convenience.

Authentic Vintage Authentic German Spun Glass Wing in 2 Sizes
We at SilverCrow were lucky to find a source in German for real, vintage spun glass components so that you can create Victorian style ornaments for Christmas, Valentine's Day, or just because you want to make them!
These pieces were made by hand in a factory in Lauscha, Germany well before World War II. They are certainly elegantly crafted by highly-skilled artisans who were undoubtedly proud to work.
Spun Glass is a form of fiberglass, so it can be irritating and is not recommended for children. And, even though these are in excellent shape, because of the age of the pieces, we suggest you be quite careful when using them for crafting.
These wheels are traditionally used as wings for angels, birds, butterflies and moths. But they may also substitute for the Spun Glass Skirt or Tail.

Vintage Hard Plastic Santa Treat Containers
These circa 1950 treat containers have a loop on top for hanging on a Christmas Tree or holiday package. Each measures 3-1/2 inches tall and is made of hard red plastic.
This old stock Christmas collectible is half translucent and half opaque! They were originally sold with candy already in them. Since vintage candy is a bit risky, it has been removed.

Our striking mini flying heart tin ornament is cut by hand in Mexico and then hand embossed and painted. Technically, it is a Christmas ornament, but we think it is perfect for anytime. Each is different (but the painting and design are similar) as the ornaments are wrought by artisans who treasure the artistry of generations of Mexican craftsmen. The ornaments are about 4-3/4 inches from wingtip to wingtip and about 1-1/2 inch high, but, because they are handmade, they will vary somewhat in size.

Little Skater Couple Die Cut
This reproduction of an antique scrap is new, but in the tradition of Victorian scraps and die cut ornaments of old. This little couple seem to be expert skaters on the local frozen pond.
This can easily be used as a delightful gift tag, or an old-fashioned ornament or as an addition to your holiday artwork. Use a bit of mica or glass glitter and you might even fool someone into thinking this is an old one. Golden Dresden Ornament Base
This wonderful heavy-weight golden dresden base is just what you need to create old-fashioned paper ornaments for Christmas, Valentine's Day and more.
