Shiny Black Jester or Clown Dresdens
More Dresdens
More Circus & Clowns
These are highly embossed shiny black Dresden clowns are just waiting to make you laugh. They're perfect for a Circus Birthday - add them to a party cone or invitation! Very little trimming is necessary - making them even more attractive.
Long used for embellishing ornaments and glued to other paper scraps and decoupage projects, these wonderful motifs are even more special because they are black - a rare but favored color of many of ornaments of the Victorian period.
The embossing on these reliefs is superb, as is the cutting. These are new but are made in the same fashion as they have been for many, many decades! The largest motif is about 2 inches from collar to tip of hat and about 1-3/8 inch wide.

April Fool's Brooch from Maximal Art by John Wind
April Fool's Day (the first of April) finds its roots in so many different traditions, it's hard to sort them all out. The vast number of these histories seem to center around the Vernal Equinox, once signaling the New Year. As today, many were known to exchange hopeful gifts at the beginning of the new year. So, when the calendar changed to feature January 1 as beginning each year, many protested by making mock gifts and ceremonies. This negative reaction turned into the April Fool's Jokes we have today.
We were delighted to be able to offer you such a wonderful piece for such a fun holiday!
Fun-loving, festive and full of life, our little jester pin is from Maximal Art by John Wind. It measures 3/4 inch by 2 inches and is accented with Austrian crystals, glitter and more.
Like all Maximal Art jewelry, this sprightly brooch is designed by artist John Wind. This wonderful design features vintage style art, 14 karat gold plating and, of course, the Austrian crystals and glass beads.
Each brooch arrives in a lovely Maximal Art gift bag and is certain to charm even the most discerning eye! Many Maximal Art pieces become collectible as they retire.

More Circus & Carnival
From an original daguerreotype portrait taken by an unknown photographer in 1855, this wonderful circus performer is featured. We know that the image was taken on July 4, 1855. Mr. Worrell was a well-known acrobat who performed in Welch's National Circus and Theater. His elegance and stage presence are evident in this striking photo.

Vintage Carnival Prize - Bird Whirler
More Birds
More Vintage Stuff
Wow! This large (10-inch long) bird is made of cardboard and feathers. S/he was hand painted and has chopped up cellophane for hair! This great little pink, white and blue bird was probably originally red, white and blue. But, it's just as cool in its faced glory.
Each bird is attached to a wooden stick by a long string. Holding the stick, you swing the bird around your head and the bird will fly and make a squeaking noise. These are vintage, so please allow for some variation in color and expected wear.
Although it is not marked, we suspect that this fun toy was made in Japan. It is in great condition for its age, having been from some time around 1950. They were found in storage in the Columbus, Ohio warehouse of a carnival distributor.

We are absolutely delighted to present this terrific Barbara Schriber Designs notecard. It seems only natural that we'd offer such delightful images that are hand glittered with German glass glitter!
We're not quite sure what trick the chicks and bunnies are doing, but it appears that an elegant little chick girl is a trick bunny rider! The duo is directed by a chick trainer and watched by a little chick holding a glittery egg! The sentiment reads:
Loving Easter Greeting
The glitter accents are in just the perfect spots to highlight the image! Best of all, once the glitter is exposed to air, it may tarnish, which adds to the vintage feel! Of course, each card is accompanied by a matching envelope.
Because this card is accented with glass glitter, please use care when handling the cards, and of course, such products adorned with glass glitter are not suitable for children.

Circus Act Note Card
Susan Mrosek is the astonishing artist of these absolutely wonderful cards! The advice is meant for pondering:
I've joined a more spiritual circus act. The performers wear soft laps, dimpled grins, and rainbowed eyes. At dinner they bring gifts to the table - my favorite, the hand-milled kaleidoscope of all possibilities.
Such a wonderful thought along with such a special print of her watercolor - and in a note card! You'll want to pin this up nearby to remind you to live such a full and wonderful life. And, to remember the openings in the future porthole!
We suggest this card for anyone celebrating a new beginning, no matter what the circumstances!

Pop-Up Phobias Book
Fear of heights, fear of spiders, fear of flying, fear of death, fear of clowns--everyone is afraid of something. And these pop-ups place you in the hot seat--whether it's the dentist's chair as the drill comes spinning toward you; looking over the edge of a skyscraper whose sheer face plummets thousands of feet to the sidewalk far below; or the window seat of a plane as the oxygen mask deploys, your drink spills, and the horizon line shifts to an angle that is suddenly, terribly wrong…
Brought to life by outrageously macabre artwork and startlingly innovative pop-ups, The Pop-up Book of Phobias by Gary Greenberg is an engineering marvel and cult classic in the making--an offbeat treasure for your coffee table or for a gift (especially for a therapist friend)!

El Cirquero Nicho (Circus Performer)
More Nichos
We had this exciting nicho hand made and painted just for SilverCrow! The artist has adapted a traditional mini nicho (about 3-1/2 inches high) to feature El Cirquero (the Circus Performer) from a traditional Loteria deck. Individually hand-made and painted skulls and devils were added in brightly painted colors - perhaps highlighting the paradox of the circus itself! We just love these!
Because these are hand-crafted and hand-painted, please allow some variance in design. The basic color is a deep turquoise with bright circus colors added the exterior. The individual skulls and devils vary as well. Please let us select one for you as all of them are magnificent.
