Antiqued Bronze Little Prince (with his Scarf) charm
More Charms
More Things French and of France
More Journeys
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince) in 1943. It is beloved even more today than when it was written. Ostensibly a children's book, there are so many instances in the writings that might be meant for adults to learn - perhaps to be young again.
Our lovely charm features the little prince in his almost-too-big slacks with his scarf trailing in the Sahara wind. Speaking to the businessman who felt he owned the stars:
The little prince was still not satisfied. "If I own a scarf, I can tie it around my neck and take it away. If I own a flower, I can pick it and take it away. But you can't pick the stars!" ... "I own a flower myself," he continued, "which I water every day." ... ...it's useful to my flower, that I own it. But you're not useful to the stars."
The little prince was still not satisfied. "If I own a scarf, I can tie it around my neck and take it away. If I own a flower, I can pick it and take it away. But you can't pick the stars!"
...
"I own a flower myself," he continued, "which I water every day."
...it's useful to my flower, that I own it. But you're not useful to the stars."
This larger charm measures 1-3/4 inch high by 1-1/8 inch wide (at the scarf). It has a nice profile of just over 1/16 inch and is nicely detailed. The back is hollow but hangs flat.

Reversible Mystical Ouija Board Pendant

More of the Metaphysical & Mysterious

The first talking board, similar to the Ouija board was used in China around 1100 BC. The origins of the name Ouija are less known and more highly debated. The first modern Ouija board was patented in 1891 and was quite similar to the ones we know today.
Our Ouija Board Pendant is a tiny replica board framed in silver metal and glass covered. The pendant measures 1-3/4 inch by 1 inch. It is water resistant, but not waterproof, so be careful when cleaning it - use only a soft cloth.
This is the same pendant we use for our Mystical Ouija Necklace. We had so many requests for just the pendant - so here it is!

We just love letterpress cards and letters. The elegance of vintage stationery is all but forgotten. And, of course, because it is letterpress, you can feel the letters with your fingers.

Sun or sunflower Nicho
More Nichos
Our Sun Nicho has a tiny niche - only 1-5/8 inch high by 1-1/2 inch wide and just 1/2 inch deep. The glass door opens from the front and closes with a traditional looped metal closure.
The entire piece measures 6 inches high by about 6 inches wide. The sun rays are all hand cut, so these measurements are approximate. We're really impressed with the cutting as we're not so good at cutting paper - let alone tin. The aged coppery color finish is a bit shinier than usual and we think it works nicely with such a heavenly image as the sun.
Truth be told, some of us thought this was a flower, not the sun, so perhaps it is a sunflower. In any case the cheerful tone of the piece makes it a lovely gift for someone. Why not add some mementos or a special photo?

Perfect for fountain pens, fountain pen rollers and glass pens, this water-based ink is non-toxic and pH neutral, lightfast. It flows smoothly and is fast drying. You'll also love to use this special ink as a wash with any of your assorted brushes.

SilverCrow is delighted to bring this wonderful ink to you. Each squared bottle of 30 ml is labeled in French.

The first known Advent Calendar was produced by hand around 1851 in Germany. Mainly a Protestant tradition, chalk-lines were ticked off as the days grew closer to Christmas. The first Advent Calendars didn't have windows to open. These were added early in the 20th century.
Our enchanting reproduction (from 1955) Moonlit Village Advent Calendar is approximately 19 inches wide, 8-1/2 inches high and over 11 inches deep. As you open the calendar, the three-dimensional scene of a winter town unfolds miraculously!
Young and old alike will marvel at the simple pleasure of opening each window, anticipation building as nearer the date you arrive! This calendar is not glittered, so you may choose to add a hint of mica glitter flakes to reflect your holiday lights.

La Luna (The Moon) Nicho
More Products of the Heavens
This simple nicho has been made in the likeness of the man in the moon. Facing either direction (we cannot be sure which ones we will receive in an order), it is fashioned in the liso style - simple and smooth, allowing you to add your own decoration or leave it simply as is for a dramatic appearance.
The shadow box, or niche, opens in the front with the traditional curled metal closure. You might add a picture or some mementos. But, please don't let the traditional use limit your imagination! Although any ofrenda would be meaningful, this nicho is especially suited for romance as the moon represents the night or evening.
Of course, the niche's depth allows for additional items to be added - perhaps a tiny flask of sand from your favorite beach, a small candle or milagros. Each Luna Nicho is made entirely by hand, so the dimensions and even the final shape will vary, making yours ever so much more especially yours. Each measures approximately 5-1/2 inches from top to bottom and about 2-3/4 inches wide. The niche is 2-3/8 inches high by 1-5/8 inch wide and it is just about 1/2 inch deep.

They are also fantastic for your collages and assemblages - to glue on or inlay. We think these to be made of tin, but they just might be aluminum.

Art Postcard - Dead, 1983 by Gilbert & George
More Friendship
Gilbert and George are two modern artists who met in the 1960s and have worked together pretty much ever since. Their artwork is at once surreal and real and representative of London's East End art scene. Or, perhaps, they defined the scene. They are really Gilbert Proesch and George Passmore and work together as a duo, although it cannot be confirmed that they are partners.
They are quite prolific and much of their art has to do with death and doom and extremes. This piece is entitled DEAD and features the artists in the lower right. We're not quite sure what is dead or if it is a dream. Such is the surreal, is it not? or, is it?

Letterpress Note card - Most of the Shadows...
We just love letterpress cards and letters. The elegance of vintage stationery is all but forgotten. We're simply delighted that some smaller companies are offering the same high-quality papers and designs with a modern touch - so we can offer them to you! The simple design represents the simple sentiment so well. And, of course, because it is letterpress, you can feel the letters with your fingers.
Known for his acute sense of self-awareness, and able to translate it to advice for the masses, Ralph Waldo Emerson is often quoted, as he is here:
Most of the shadows of this life are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Such advice is perfect for me, and it is certainly an important point to make to anyone who needs encouragement.
The 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inch size is large enough for a love letter and small enough for a shy missive to your beloved. This fine note card is accompanied by a matching envelope and is printed by hand on an antique letterpress with soy ink on 100% post-consumer recycled cardstock.

Reach for the Stars Charm
What better advice than this:
REACH FOR THE STARS
This lovely charm is fashioned from lead-free pewter and measures about 7/8 inch high by 5/8 inch wide. The hanging loop is in the back, so that it will also double as a small pendant or focal point of a necklace. There is also a tiny hold in the back that allows you to add a charm or bead to hang between the two bottom points of the star. But, if you choose not to do so, the hole is hardly visible.

Vintage Embossed Die Cut Chromolithograph Scraps - Astronauts
More Scraps, Dresdens & Die Cuts
From the mid-20th century, these fantastically illustrated scraps feature lots of space scenes.
As with many of the scraps and die cuts made in the 20th century, these are children in adult situations. The advent of space exploration in the 1950s and 1960s, led to many products such as these. Rather than intricately die cut motifs, these are nicely expressed vignettes that are die cut into shapes - probably meant for découpage.
The scrap relief sheet is approximately 9 inches by 7 inches, ready for you to clip and use in your artwork. And each sheet is lightly embossed to accent. The shapes make these perfect for accenting boxes, pencil cups or other such items.

Many Moons - Art Postcard by Duane Michals
Duane Michals' moons are clever and curious, definitely evoking a smile.
His black and white drawing of a many-moonlit night is accompanied by his poem:
WHEN I WAS A LITTLE BOY, IT SEEMED TO ME THAT THERE WERE MANY MOONS. MY GRAND MOTHER HAD A MOON, AND MY OTHER GRANDMOTHER HAD ONE TOO. WE HAD A MOON OVER BACKYARD, AND MY BEST FRIEND ART HAD MOONLIGHT IN HIS BEDROOM FROM HIS MOON WHEN WE VISITED OUR RELATIVES IN CHICAGO, I WAS NOT SURPRISED TO DISCOVER THEIR MOON. THEN ONE NIGHT, AS WE RETURNED FROM A VISIT TO MY GRANDMOTHER I WATCHED OUT OF THE CAR'S BACK WINDOW AND SAW HER MOON FOLLOW US HOME. HER MOON WAS OUR MOON THERE WAS JUST ONE MOON ! NOW THE SKY SEEMED SO EMPTY.
