Post Structural-its (sic) Sticky Notes
Post-structuralism came into its own in the 1960s as philosophers, particularly on the European continent, rejected structuralism. Although quite a complex philosophy, some of the major thoughts of the post-structuralists have invaded our everyday thinking, for better or for worse.
It is the belief of these thinkers that the concept of self as a singular entity is purely a fictional construction. It must be understood, so they say, that text and conversation must be interpreted in the context of the self-perception of the individual reading or conversing.
In a much-too-simplified explanation, one might interpret this to be such as "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." - There is no definitive description or meaning of anything. One of our previous bosses used to say that "perception is the only reality." Perhaps his self-perception was himself was as a post-structuralist philosopher.
Our perception of this little booklet of sticky notes is that you don't have to be a philosopher to enjoy it! There are five little pads including

Frida Kahlo's life was short (from July 6, 1907 to July 13, 1954) but certainly full! A Mexican painter deeply influenced by indigenous culture, Kahlo suffered a series of physical traumas. She contracted polio at age 6, and at 19 sustained injuries in a bus accident from which she was plagued by extreme pain for the rest of her life. Her tumultuous marriage with painter Diego Rivera led her to take many lovers, male and female, including revolutionary Leon Trotsky. Drawing on her personal life, Kahlo's work is characterized by its stark portrayal of pain.

La Lucha Libre Notebook

Spiral Bound Oilcloth Notebook
Festive red oilcloth covers this great spiral-bound notebook from Mexico. Stylized fruits - bananas, apples, guavas and other fruits and blossoms randomly cover the notebook. It is made from the same modern oilcloth that is used for tablecloths - so you know it's sturdy. Of course, this is modern oilcloth - made of vinyl and not really oiled - making it much more practical for every day use. The notebook measures 12 by 18.5 centimeters and is ready for your recipes, notes or dreams.

Vere Foster's Copy Book No. 10
The pleasures and practicalities of hand lettering as practiced in Victorian times - in the workplace, in school and at home- were aided by Vere Foster's Copy Books. This, the tenth of eighteen titles originally offered, provides wonderful examples with 31 carefully-prepared variations of the alphabet.
Originally published in 1890, it still addresses the fact that
"Writing is almost as important as speaking."
Each page offers the examples with directional arrows on some, as well as lightly-lined areas for your practice. Or, indeed, use this as a unique journal.
