Charles Maurice and Edward Julius Detmold were twin brothers born in 1883. They both loved art and continued their education with their uncle and then at the Royal Academy in their native London. At 15, two years after entering the academy, the brothers produced their first portfolio of etchings.
They worked jointly on their etchings and illustrations and also were starting lucrative individual careers when Maurice committed suicide at the age of 24.
