This Asian ceremonial metal-leaf paper is used in rituals and celebrations to ensure that we don't dwell too much on monetary pursuits. The papers are burned or torn, representing the riches of this world. Because of this, joss paper is also known as Spirit Paper.
The old style sheet are vintage and made of thin rough tissue and created in a primitive style.
New Style sheets are made of heavier pressed paper and are made uniformly.
Each sheet of paper is accented by a piece of silver leaf that has been attached to the sheet with adhesive. The golden sheets have been washed with orange ink and the silver leaf is adhered - creating the golden image.
This is spirit paper and has been created for ceremonies. We have known artists to create artwork representing spiritual intention.
The leafing techniques are old - similar to silver and gold leaf today. This is not genuine silver or gold.
