Red Cloud, known to the Lakota People as Makhpiya Luta was born in 1820. As a war leader of the Native American Indian Tribe of the Oglala Lakota Sioux Nation, he was one of the most capable world leaders of the 19th Century. Until his death in 1909, he continued to lead his people even in reservation life. Red Cloud rejected leasing land to the US Government and remains highly respected because of his conviction and honesty.
