Our friend from Ojinaga created this wonderful framed picture. The drawing is an
original based on the famous Posada drawings that illustrated the Days of the Dead so
marvelously. The drawing is in black, whites and greys, but lends itself to be
highlighted with color if you chose.
The deep red frame is accented in metallic gold and measures 8-1/2 inches high
(including the concha trim) by 6-5/8 inches wide and is 1 inch deep. The concha
(curved part on top) measures about 1-1/4 inch high by 4-3/8 inches wide.
All of these measurements are approximate as each is hand made from recycled Mexican
fruit crates (rejas) and occasionally, of new wood.
The center of the concha features a small calaca, or Day of the Dead Skull fashioned
from dental plaster, as the artist's wife is a dentist!
Of course, you can replace the picture with our own, or add some mementos to it and
further embellish the frame. You might even choose to paint the image. Please be
careful adding color - we're not sure if the black lines will bleed. Please make a
test on the back before you try.
