This odd artwork by artist William Lateef Yoder, 1987 features so many symbols, we're not sure if they are to be taken at face value and literally translated or to jump into the interpretation head first. Is the exercise the artist's - in trying so many images.
Or, indeed, is it the exercise of the central character in his circular movement. Or, is it an exercise of the senses - the hand and eye, the pop to the ear, the presentation of the left hand and the scent of the lotus. Which shall we see or hear or smell.
The only information we found on the artist himself was his residence in CORE in 1986/1987, a residential school at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
But, we do love this card!
