Green Rose Heart Necklace on Beaded Chain

This stunning reproduction heart made of a blooming rose is made of modern polyresin, but it could easily be mistaken for authentic Bakelite!

Hand produced, this wonderful retro-lite rose heart gives the impression that it has been hand carved, just as the Bakelite jewelry that was produced by Martha Sleeper - so popular in the 1930s and 1940s.*

We love the color - the green -adding a touch of surreal to the rose. The artful pendant is suspended from a green glass and silver link rosary chain (about 16 inches). The rose measures about 1-7/8 inch long.

* Martha Sleeper was a silent film actress, who is better known for her fantastic Bakelite jewelry designs. She was my Great Aunt Lillian's Sister-in-Law. Alas, my Grandmother and Mom gave away most of "Aunt Martha's" real pieces long ago!
