Nålbindung, aka Naalbinding, aka Nalbinding is a looping technique for producing warm fabric from meter-long pieces of wool or yarn. Originating with the Vikings, this old technique has been used throughout many cultures, but is usually associated with the Scandinavian countries of Sweden and Norway.
Such a technique required a needle with a larger eye and smoother surface. We love this hand-made naalbinding needle for weaving in the stray ends of our crochet and knit projects as well needle looping. It measures about 3-1/2 inches long.
These are also used for Viking and Medieval reenactments.
