We are all philosophers, but none so extraordinary as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, in his voice as the Little Prince. This lovely postcard bears one of his most expressive thoughts in two simple pictures. Under the first, which is at the least, ambiguous, the card reads:
My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant.
Beneath the second (as we see inside the snake for those of us that need a clearer picture), it reads:
I drew the inside of the boa constrictor, so that the grown-ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained.
On the back of the postcard, the same thought is translated into French (the original), German, Portuguese, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and Swedish.
