DESCRIPTION

This holy card features a vibrant, traditional Byzantine depiction of the Mother of God and the Christ Child emerging from the sacred font, symbolizing Christ as the source of our salvation.

The image was inspired by the story of a 5th Century blind soldier who was guided by Mary to a sacred spring. Upon drinking and washing his eyes with the water from the spring, his blindness was cured. This soldier later became Byzantine Emperor Leo I and under his leadership, the first shrine on the site was built.

The Orthodox Church celebrates the Life-Giving Spring with a feast day on the first Friday after Easter.

The card has been printed on light-weight card stock and has a glossy finish to the sacred image. While, the back is blank except for a faint colophon at the bottom, leaving plenty of room for custom imprinting with your own message, or a place to write a note to a friend.
