The message is the same today as it was when the symbol was introduced: PEACE.
However, it was originally designed to mean Nuclear Disarmament in England by Gerald Holtom. A conscientious objector himself, he was commissioned to design a logo for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in Britain.
The ubiquitous symbol encompasses in a circle the semaphoric representations of N (two flags down on either side - almost as if in despair) and D (one flag upright the other straight down).
No matter the origin, it is one of the most widely recognized symbols in the world today.
Our pinback button measures about 1-1/4 inch in diameter.
