Did you ever wonder about the stages of hand carving? Beginning with a boxwood block and ending in a finished, polished bead, this progressive set shows you the life stages of the bead.
Our little musical frog (playing the flute?) has been created by a master wood carver in China. The final bead is based on a traditional Japanese ojime design. The progression is stunning - and just imagine the steps in between the 5 steps shown by our set. The detail is extraordinarily evident - even the teeny eyes are inlaid!
The entire set measures about 4-1/2 to 5 inches long. The beads and block are about 1 inch by 5/8 inch, depending on the actual carver. The final piece has been signed by the artist.
What a great teaching tool for classes in art, Asian studies, woodworking and more!
Your set will arrive in a brocade or silk sari bag for treasuring or gifting. We are showing a sample bag. Yours may differ.
