During the early 20th century, postcards were a most popular method of communication, with just enough room to write a little note to a friend, family member, lover or neighbor. They were so popular that millions of cards crossed through the mails.

Reproduced from an original postcard, this delightful note card features our favorite man of winter, Santa Claus. He's carrying a sack of toys on his back, with a little dolly peeking through, on his way down the chimney. His faithful reindeer are awaiting his return with a sled full of presents. All this among the moon and stars with a lighted up church in the distance.

One very odd thing about this image is the stocking hanging from the outside of the chimney. We would hope that the little kiddies wouldn't have to climb up to the roof to open their treasures!

The inside is blank for you to write your own holiday inspired holiday message.

On the front, it reads:

A Merry Christmas.

It is such an old-timey but universal message for the future.

On the back of the card is the image of the message on the original postcard (see our second photo). It was sent from San Francisco, California in 1908 and is addressed to:

Miss [blurry name]
33 Washington Alley
City

Years ago, if mail was to go to the same city from which it was mailed, all that was necessary was the word, City. It was implied that it was the same city. Oh, for such a simple life!

The message read:
Many Kisses
[signature unintelligible]
Interestingly enough, the artist did not erase the information about the purchase of the card. It reads:

CHILD - PHOTO       RKCA5X       3.50 lot

This, to us, is great news...that you can still find vintage postcards like this for a bargain...just keep looking.

This modern reproduction greeting card measures 5 inches by 7 inches and arrives with an appropriate white envelope.
