St. Anthony of Padua was a Franciscan monk who lived from 1195 to 1231. He has long been known as a helper in finding lost things, and is one of the more popular patron saints in the Catholic Church.
Because Saint Anthony helps us find things, some believe that he will also find true love. It is thought that if you light a candle and place a statue of St Anthony by it side - upside down (yes, upside down!), that the dear saint will help you find an appropriate mate.
With candle lit, pray to St Anthony to help you find someone to keep you warm, just like you are keeping him warm with the candle.
These statues are handmade by artisans from Quertero. You'll find some variation from one to the next, so please let us choose one for you. We're showing you 3 little statues so that you might see the slight variation.
If you prefer, this little statue will stand upright on his feet, as well.
When you light your candle, be careful not to place it too close to this primitive statue, as it is made of paper mache and may be flammable.
