Beloved and prayed by many, the Serenity Prayer was originally written by American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr. It is believed that the first time it was heard was in his sermon in the 1930s.
After being published in a magazine in the early 1950s, the prayer took on many forms. Our post card represents the most common version, adopted by many 12-Step Programs.
Believed to be very comforting, it reads, in stunning calligraphy, surrounded by butterflies and flowers:
God grant me theSERENITYto accept the thingsI cannot change;COURAGEto changethe things I can;and WISDOMto know the difference.
What a lovely bookmark. Add it to a book you might be presenting to a friend.
