Small Vintage Christmas Dish or Ashtray

The dish was not expensive when it was originally sold, so it's really neat that we have found this one. We love the little candle design with just a touch of pine. This has all been painted by hand as well. There are slight imperfections in the painting as can be expected with such a little dish.

 

Once inspected, you'll find that this little tree is an ashtray, with a "slot" on the tree trunk that will hold a cigarette - real or candy or gum! Because the slot is part of the trunk, even we did not suspect its original use.

Even better yet! The tree will stand on its tree trunk base, so that you may display it as well. Be careful when you stand it as it is ceramic and you don't want it to fall and break - even though it is quite sturdy.

You'll find that bottom rim is not perfect. This is normal for such a dish - and was probably there when the dish originally was purchased. On the back was the original tag, but it was already gone when we purchased it.
