Saint Christopher has long been known as the protector and well known as a patron of the traveler. His legend is mighty: As a powerfully built man, he was enamoured with the world and set off in search of adventure.
At one point during his journey, he came upon a hermit who assisted people across a treacherous stream. He decided to also assist these people, but instead of leading them across, he carried them on his sturdy shoulders.
One day he carried a small child across the stream. Although it was just a child, the weight nearly crushed him. When they arrived on the other side, the child revealed himself as Christ, and he was so heavy because he bore the weight of the world.
Two medals shown for illustration.
