The United States Declaration of Independence was a document that was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. Basically it announced to the world that the the 13 colonies of the new world (then at war with Great Britain) were no longer part of the British Empire.
Thomas Jefferson was the primary author of the document. On July 2, 1776, the Congress had voted to declare independence from Britain, well over a year after the Revolutionary War began.
This wonderful set includes a copy of the final version signed on the Birthday of the United States - July 4, 1776. It also includes a copy of the two page original draft created by Thomas Jefferson - complete with inclusions, scratch-outs and notes.
You might also consider using portions of this in a special collage or assemblage celebrating the United States.
