Antique glass bottles like this one from the early 1900s are quite a collector's item. This one is quite interesting. At first glance, it appears to be made for chemical, pharmaceuticals or the like from long ago. With closer inspection, you'll find that this is actually a firematic collectible.

As with all of our vintage items, we have not cleaned this item so as to retain its integrity. The discoloration is on the inside of the bottle and can be cleaned with a bit of rubbing alcohol or mildly soapy water. As with all of our vintage items, we have not cleaned this item so as to retain its integrity.

The glass bottle reads:
FILL TO LINE

Under that, at the base, it reads (in script):
Duraglas

On the bottom of the glass bottle is an Owens ring, so it appears to have been machine made sometime from 1905 through 1915. You'll also find on the bottom the logo of the now defunct American LaFrance Fire Engine Company, in the form of a Maltese Cross, with the marks:
A
L  A  F
F.E. Co.
Followed by:
MADE IN U.S.A.

The bottle was probably delivered to the Fire Company customer along with their truck or engine. It may well have been for a oil, an additive, acid, or something similar. This was probably a corked bottle, but the cork is long gone.

This bottle is from the estate of a huge collector of firematic treasures. This is a great find for the seasoned or beginning Fire Fighting Equipment Collector, for sure.

The American LaFrance Fire Engine Company was once the preeminent manufactures of fire trucks, fire engines, aerials ladder trucks and other emergency vehicles and equipment. The company was located in Summerville, South Carolina. It began operations in 1873 and sadly, ceased operations through 2014.
