Our little cameo charm is vintage, but we're not really sure of the age. We're guessing it's from the 1970s or 1980s. The cameo features a frosted opaque silhouette of an elegant woman with the classic Victorian updo. This sits upon a jet-black cabochon. The entire piece has been set in a scalloped brass charm setting that has been coated for protection from patination.
We don't think the cameo is real shell or mother of pearl, but it resembles it closely. We believe the cameo to be resin or plastic, but it's certain a great imitator of glass, because it was hard to tell.
We've hung the charm from a single glass pearl on a glass pearl and golden link rosary chain.
The chain measures 18 inches and features a gold-plated screw-type barrel clasp. Including the upper hanging loop, the charm measures 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch.
